Alright guys, since I heard about the GSL Code S October having so little protoss, as a toss player myself I was curious to watch and hope that a protoss comes out and does really well. Hoping to see the protoss Nestea, but no protoss made it to round of 8.
I mean we all know Mvp is the Nestea of Terran, but who the hell is our protoss hope? MC used to be that star in the sky for us. I looked up to him as a player like no one else. But after his upsetting lost vs HongUn in the GSL, it has been downhill. He used to be THE feared protoss, it was expected that every foreign tournament he would win. And than he just dropped off. I mean Hero did better than him in Code A, not bashing Hero, but we are talking about the player who at one time had won the most money in prizes in SC2.
Who will be our hope? Or is protoss just a race you should play in the lower leagues and leave the Code S to the terrans and zergs?
I would watch replay after replay of MC learning his builds down to the second.
Is HuK going to become our Nestea, after training heavily with Puma and Idra?

There's no definitive way to tell...I mean as it is now Protoss is just stagnant. It's reached a point in the metagame where some Bisu-esque breakthrough is necessary, if it is even humanly possible, given the poor design Blizzard has ultimately bestowed upon Protoss in SC2.
But yeah, you gotta remember a good game takes time to patch. Nothing is set in stone yet and with the release of HotS, I'm sure Blizzard plans to make amends to Protoss so it can be played well at the highest levels again.

I'd say that Sage is the brightest star on the Protoss heaven right now, he is really a joy to watch and comes up with such a unique way of playing Protoss.
|
JYP is showing very impressive play against zerg, but his problem is that he is very weak against terran. So I will have to say there is no protoss Nestea, but the best protoss is probably Sage.
|
At the moment I'm looking hard at Sage and JYP. Both very good up and comers, but I think Sage is a bit farther ahead.
Code S players like Genius and Killer have been there for a while, and while they are pretty good, they are not improving, which is the most important part of sc2 atm. Sage and JYP have come out of relative nowhere and are tearing it up, and improving.
They are the most likely protoss heroes, but so far, its no one. we will just have to wait and see =]

Huk is awesome cause he's a foreigner in Code S and stuff but I don't think he's beaten anyone good except Nada

Ugh I want White-Ra to be the Protoss Nestea, but his special tactics arnt as solid as they need to be

MC will be back. He was going through a slump, and also the patch has lessened the danger from 4-gate specialists. He is still the man.

He beats "good" players on a regular basis on ladder he just seems to get nervous or something at events :\

I got this guys i got this! Just gimmie a few months! dont worry!
But seriously looking at code A theres alot of protoss at the moment that seem to be "up and coming" ... Also i dont think MC is done yet he just seemed to hit a slump in quite an epic fashion im sure he will be back!

Sage has some really great games and the only match up he doesn't exactly own in is PvP, so he makes a good hope for P.
HerO is pretty awesome in every match up I've seen him play.
Tails just beat MVP and Nestea back to back in the MvP vs IM Semi Finals in Teamleague, although lucky that was pretty awesome.
Plus there's JYP, who's also very good and Creator.Prime.WE. Both of them had a very good showing in the semi final of TSL vs Prime.

It's JYP.
lost to dimaga 2:0 at IEM then complained about imbalance, so nope
He isnt.

I think Puzzle might be the guy to pull Protoss out of hell.

Quite frankly, there isn't one.
There's no Protoss that pushes his way to the end of the GSLs, regardless of the competition (until he hits Nestea, MVP, or another really good Terran).
It's as simple as that. It'd be nice for someone to step up though

Yeh, I dont think there is one atm, there's a few potentials that have yet to prove themselves. Maybe soon one or two (or more) will breakthrough/return to their former glory, but right now no protoss can contend with Nestea's status imo.
|
There isn't a protoss nestea atm. Nestea has amazing results, unparalleled by all except for MVP. He's feared by basically everybody but the very top level terrans.
The same goes for MVP, but to a higher degree, he is by far the best TvT player, and his TvZ might even surpass MMA. Nobody's seen his TvP for ages, so maybe that's his weak matchup.
Sage, JYP and Oz are still up-and-comers, Nestea hasn't been an up-and-comer since...err, GSL1? Still, at that point he was known for his bleak BW background as a 2v2'er and coach (I think it was coach?).
So basically, until MC comes back or one of these Code A protoss really get it on in Code S we don't have a representative.

HUK is the protoss bonjwa!!! I believe!!!

I don't think there will be a single hero. Just builds getting tighter, stargate play being more vicious, timings coming earlier etc. Oh. And an EMP nerf. I kid, I kid.
