So.. this looks like something I maybe want to get into. I didn't see any like "THIS IS HOW YOU PLAY" topics around so I'm not sure how to do that. Best way to learn is to simply dive into it and read all the guides available. Just make sure you have enough time for all this, this takes a ton of time. basically, learn what the roles do and start playing i advise playing the sc2 mafia UMS for an introduction before graduating to forum mafia
Roles are not the essence of mafia actually. Read the guides, then start playing, the SC2 UMS is not really good preparation, as its too fast paced and has next to no focus on behavioral analysis. I would actually argue that it builds bad habits if anything

Agree with GM, cause he's baller.

Haha sc2 Mafia is funny. The average lynch is because of someone's name. I have a 100% win rate as a VI

Wow. That was massive.
I doubt I've absorbed all of that, but I think I get some of the basic principles at least. Guess I'll have to wait and see. Thanks a ton for the guide, Ver, I'll probably be re-reading that sometime in the future once I understand the game a bit better.

I was reading through old threads, and found this guide, its also really solid and worth a read, so I thought I would link it here for the convinience of any newer player reading this thread.

Yeha I learned that the hard way since

It's a shame this was a PM game. It's such a great guide.

Are people good at this game yet?

part of the OP written by Ver is referenced in my after game write up for Death Factory Mafia 2. After the age of Vivi/Amber/Shikyo a new mutation has popped up that even I, the great one, could have never foreseen.

What was the age of Vivi/Amber/Shikyo?

That game is also a good example of why dreamflower is imba

I hate reading on screen, so I took the time to compile the guide and relevant parts of the discussions into a document. You can view/download said document here. If you have any comments or find errors etc, feel free to message me.

yes true, I played mafia in real life and some sc2 mafia in the early stages. Both is way different... when I played now my first forum mafia I was amazed by how slow it was and ended up asking for a modkill.
I think the fact that threw me off this game so much is how much it actually differes from the fast paced real life game with its heated discussions and the action centered sc2 game. It doesn't necessary mean that mafia forum isn't a game I don't like, it's just wai different from what I expected... I'll try it again when I have more time over a longer period and read one or two games maybe.

You heard him. We need more heated discussion and action!
I propose that all players be given a post quota that they must exceed every cycle. Players can donate posts from their own quota to another player to ensure they will be extra spammy. Plus everyone gets nukes.
