There was never any confirmation from anyone else that they had met User11 in the Netherlands. Passion offered to meet him, but it looks like he was "too busy". There's also no proof that he met any of the TL admins: Meat and Nazgul never confirmed having met him. He did work for Meat over the Internet, but there's no indication that they ever really met. He offered to meet users at the Out Back Bar, but no one replied saying they were there. No word from "jelmer" he was supposed to meet either. Didn't give Jelmer's TL username.
The way he rejected Meat's offer was a bit strange: if he really only had 100 euros in donations on his paypal, and needed at least 150 more + some to pay back his friend, then 8 euros / hour would have been good money. 8 euros per hour is still a decent salary for cleaning a house in 2011 (11 USD/hour, way above minimum US salary). Working 20 hours would have given him the 150 euros he needed. He said he wouldn't clean the TL house, but "im still looken for work that doesnt involve me cleaning your room and u pointing and laughing.... ANYTHING :D" anything? Cleaning a house doesn't sound so bad.
He also never upload any picture of himself or friends, or of his ticket (blacked out of course) or any kind of proof other than his words.
The only things in his favor: he still posts, he gave his facebook (could be fake) and no one, including the admins, called him out on it or said anything.
So, this could be true, but... I think this definitely could be a scam and some people don't want to see that possibility. There are some good scammers and you should never believe a good story from a stranger without some kind of proof.
As i look back now i dont know why i turned down the extra hours of work i could of had cleaning meat and nazguls place.
This really intrigues me, why would you reject such an offer, specially if you were an "old bw gosu" as you stated in your first post, i don't see why reject the offer to clean the TL houses.
It's not about "turning down extra hours of work", it's more about turning down the opportunity to meet Nazgul and Meat. That seems really odd, specially if you were such a bw fan, and a TL fan.
I doubt they would have laughed and pointed at you, as you decided to take the job and clean their houses, and somebody that is in such a dire situation won't think like this.

i already have stated that when i look back now i really dont have any idea why i turned it down. Maybe it was the stress? who knows.
It would be fun to travel with a fellow TLer but i believe my travelling days are up for now. haha ^_^

You guys should really read at least more of the thread and not reply to posts that are a few years old. Hint: he went to the embassy and they could not help.

Read the whole thread until the story ended, on my mobilephone, taking the most od my 4h train ride. I didn't end up studying as much as I would have wanted too to ^^. Either way, it was worth it, definitely a cool read.
Also, if you are going to post in this thread, at least read a few pages so you understand the concept. This wasn't necroed for nothing.

You obviously didnt read the whole story, and decided to troll the guy instead?

Read the entire thread, it did feel pretty epic, but I wouldn't have belived it, I mean, seriously, who walks around with 1700 bucks, specialy when that's all they've got?

holy fucking shit.
just read up to when user11 posts again in 2008.
just gotta say, WHATTA FUCKING EPIC STORY.
being a naturally skeptical person, i thought this was a massive scam, and a little bit of me still thinks it is. but perhaps, this is the case when someone genuinly needed help, and tl was obviously so fucking awesome to help him. ofcourse, there are the obligatory flamers/trollers/haters, but man this guy was so smooth rollin them over.
however, i hope u learnt some lessons from this, e.g. always having a backup. as much as i really hate the flamers, they did have some points which you should always do when your travelling from now on. u need to always have backup money. u need to have insurance.
this is meant in the nicest way possible, and im glad u made it home
wow, you seriously could write a book about this and the power of the internet. tl is such a frickin awesome forum.

OK I want to ask you all this:
The guy is a KNOWN Canadian BW player... I'd say around B-/B level if I recall He was going to WCG Canada... friends with Fayth, Veg, hell, maybe even Testie... so him being Canadian adds up.
He was tracked to a Netherlands IP address how can people not believe this story?
