I plan to update and maintain this blog to help further my development in Starcraft 2. My current goal is to go from Bronze to Gold. A little history about myself, I'm a former Counterstrike 1.6 player from 2002-2007 with several LAN tournament victories from Tx to Va. I joined the military effectively ending any gaming consistency from 2005-2011 and got out of the military in February of this year. I've been dabbling in Starcraft 2 since I got out, but tonight I decided that I want to be good at this game.
The only notable, if this even counts, Starcraft 2 accomplishment that I have is 1st place Bronze in my division. I play as Terran, but I don't consider myself a good player by any stretch of the imagination. I never played Starcraft I. Sometimes I wonder if I should change races... I like Terran, but something about Zerg intrigues me. Sometimes I get annoyed when my friends say that Terran is the easiest race to play. Zerg is harder for me, and there is no question about that. But I feel like Zerg just has so many little things going on like larvae injects, creep spread, droning/army that make it more of a nuisance to play and puts a beginner at a significant disadvantage. After all, I do play this game to have fun. I haven't been playing with any regularity, which is why I suspect I haven't been moved up to silver. I play as Terran and pretty much the only strat I use is the 50 food Stim/Concussive Shell(or)Combat Shield timing push. When this initial push fails, which is rare in Bronze, I seem to do alright expanding behind the push and going to medivacs/bio with Thors eventually popping out. I'll be documenting my progress from Bronze to Gold, but for now what are some things that you do in order to improve your gameplay? Practice maps? Informative youtube videos? Let me know. Any advice is appreciated!

Protoss is the easiest race to place. I don't care who tells me differently.
The easiest race to win is still debatable.
Play the race you are the most comfortable with. Are you familiar with Day [9] and his ways of helping you? http://blip.tv/day9tv#!page=15

As for tips on improving watch Day9, replays, VODs and play xD IMO the first thing you should focus on is the unit counters as in which unit counters what, and the hotkeys of buildings and skills. It'll help a lot

That's why I don't care :B

You can argue semantics but protoss and terran are both pretty easy to learn.
|
Protoss is easiest to learn on, terran is the easiest to be a cheesy bastard with (for low skill ladder jumping)
|
I found Terran easier than Protoss when I started playing the beta, not sure why, I guess everyone enjoys a different playstyle. You could argue the point for hours...
Then again I played Terran in BW too, so y'know. Great work on your achievements and best of luck with your SC journey

Don't pick the race which is easiest to play.
Pick the race that you want to play, if that is Zerg, switch to Zerg. Check out the strategy forum/watch VODs/replays to get a better understanding of the different things you can do, to get better the most important thing is to play!

Thanks for suggesting Day9. I do watch his videos and will continue to watch once he gets back from his 1 week break.
I've been working on unit counters and I think I have a pretty good grasp on them. I'm past the keyboard block that I've heard most people have. Around the 4th day or so I was pretty solid building only w. the keyboard.
Thanks for the feedback everyone!

I found turning on that option in Gameplay that shows the hotkeys is amazingly helpful, especially when I'm playing 4v4 as Zerg or Protoss. Helped me learn them a lot faster

Picked up protoss as i read somewhere that terran required more micro, not sure was correct as i'm finding protoss pretty heavy on that to be effective. Stay with terran, marine/mouraders are amazingly good and cheap and you can win most matches with early pushes, then you can develop from there. I'm thinking of switching to zerg myself but surely will take time and many losses.
