In this thread I am going to give my life direction in order to push out of being miserable and unsatisfied with myself as a person so that one day I might be comfortable with who I am
I just came back from holiday and this is the time to stir everything up and get things moving, at long last
Your comments are welcome!
Where I was + Show Spoiler + alcholic, drugs, browsing forums, watching sc and tv and anime, no friends, MMOs, unemployed, rediculous diet and weaker than a girl, emotionally fragile and immature
Where I am + Show Spoiler + unsatisfactory job, poor budgeting, messy apartment, occaisional lapses with alcohol, cigarette smoker, watching shit and browsing forums, irregular gym (once every 3-4 days), okay diet, no savings, no direction
Where I want to be + Show Spoiler + have a SKILL, have a more satisfying job with less travel time, have a motorbike and camera and more independence and self-dependence, stop having alcohol and depression lapses, have friends and not feel awkward all the time, more discipline and controlled lifestyle (okay with going to bed early), less worry about each and every thing
What I need to do NOW - not what I need to "consider" for another 6 months or "feel like I should do it once i've finished watching youtube Let's Plays or caught up on the dailies" + Show Spoiler + skill - pick a language to study. SPANISH.
budget - figure out how much i have and allocate it to FOOD, EXPENSES and SAVINGS. then stop paying out for rediculous things like £6 McDonalds because i know that money can go into my SAVINGS.
future - pick a COURSE to save up for and commence. TEFL (teach english as a foreign language) looks like a shit course (2 days for £250 what the fuck) but if its what i need then i need to do it asap.
job - this is a bloody hard one but the first step is to go round to local places and agencies and get it moving. it shouldnt be too hard to get a job at a nearer location so im not spending 2 hours a day travelling.
gym - ive done well so far, need to pick it back up, with the things ive learnt. cutting out internet/computer time will help here
food - need to budget and get some recipes. no more sticking pork in the oven then dunking it in ketchup 5 days a week. need to find out how to make it taste nice and different, even if that just means sprinkling some herb shit
friends - i know i really enjoy larp/d&d so find out where people do it in my city i guess. joining a "martial art" is a possibility but idk
smoking - cut down to 4/day for a few days, then less, then quit. for good. gym will help here
learn to dance - LEARN TO DANCE. hang out with girls when you have no fucking clue how to dance is a recipe for everyone being disinterested as fuck in you
well thats a start. the big ones really are New Job, Quit Smoking, Gym and Nutrition, Budgeting, Future, and most importantly of all - the Skill.
for the Skill, i like studying language, its kinda simple and complex at the same time. idk if Spanish is the right choice for me for sure. im not too keen on Spanish culture, but i DO wanna live somewhere nice and hot, and teaching english seems like a good enough job for me. my other choices would be Bulgarian, Japanese, possibly French. but Spanish is 100x easier especially since i have spanish friend etc. i have been fucking around with this consideration for years, without ever actually fucking making the choice and getting down to it. so i think its important for me to pick motherfucking Spanish and start learning properly right now!!

Seeing the £ signs shows that you're also British.
Oh man I feel for you. I kind of am/been in the situation you are. Meaning that I have had a pretty shitty year so far (2 family deaths, surgery and a lot of distress) and I'm kind of stuck in limbo at the moment.
I think picking up a martial art is a great choice. Not only do you have fun, but you also learn stuff you wouldnt learn in a gym and of course you get amazing exercise. I'm doing Taekwondo at the moment and its crazy exercise. You probably wont need to go to the gym anymore as well. I dont know about you but the gym is fucking boring in my opinion.
Also I think that getting a better job is extremely important. Not only would get rid of that "fuck I dont want to go to work today" feeling in the morning but you will find that everything else slowly falls into place. Like, if you feel depressed about your work, you wont exactly be in the mood to cook a decent dinner would you? I dont think there are much worse things than having a job where you spend 40+ hours a week there and hating it. And trust me I have had such jobs. Job satisfaction = very important.

i would say clean your apartment up first.. being around and seeing clean stuff makes you want to be more organized and what not. it may just be a mental thing but its more than a start.. get clean get organized! once ur organized, you know your schedule, setup a time everyday to go to the gym and commit to it no matter how tired you are.. a way to get ina good habit in going to the gym is when you know and understand how to workout rather than just doing whatever.. you need to have a laidout play. i suggest http://www.simplyshredded.com/ and reading such and such on there and finding yourself a workout that fits you.. from there you will SEE you have the commitment to get fit... then you have the courage to drop your "shit" job and find one that suits you! and i mean just keep up the good work and everything will fall into place.. its like a puzzle.. getting the edges and such together is hard, but once you finish that, filling in the rest is easy.. you just need to know where to start it seems. thats all that i can give you. Good Luck!

haha well thats what put me off from martial arts in the first place i focus on gym and dont think i can cope with anymore physical stuff maybe if i get a nearer job then ill feel like i can fit it in also see how i feel after cutting out Internet/watching stuff because the priority is to replace this time with Skill (learning a language)
gym is not boring as i do Starting Strength (TLHF) !
ive written out my list of things to do for today + Show Spoiler + sat 1. santander 2. money in house 3. budget (simple) 4. bus passes 5. bus to town, look for trini 6. printer 7. potatoes, milk, meat, sauce, mop 8. investigations --- jobs --- spanish --- tefl --- budget 9. clean
now im gonna go do them!

Native spanish speaker who loves teaching here.
I'm in the same ship that you in the language part. I would like to move to another country and teach spanish.
After more than 10 failure language exchange propositions I will eat my pride and offer you my help. I will teach you as much as I can about spanish and spanish culture, etc, and you can in exchange teach me about english and your country culture, etc. You will learn to teach english and I will learn to teach spanish.
If you like the idea send me a PM. But plz don't be like the other 3 TL ppl. Send it!
Cheers.

An easy way to budget is to choose a certain amount of money your allowed to spend each day and really stick to it. For example only take 10£ with you for food and food only. This will stop you from binging on anything.
Be careful with picking that many hobbies. Dancing/martial arts/gym/spanish + a job will pretty much take 100% of your time. Remember that most of those require you to study alone and not only go to the classes. Not to mention those hobbies are going to be a big money drain, if you're having any money problems.

dude i have huge support for you man. It seems like you're in a tough place but i know you can get through it, and everyone has to go through something like this, seriously.
Join a dance club, like a SALSA CLUB this will satisfy multiple items on the list, Dancing, making friends, working out, and maybe practicing spanish too
YOU CAN DO IT

i went to a flamenco dance class at one point (didnt realise what it was lol) and it was soooo awful and embarrassing i would totally do one-on-one lessons if i can afford it, or maybe take my friend from work she might be up for it

If you want to be a true boss, ballroom is the way to go. Salsa dancers only know cool moves, but they don't know how to make their body and actions look good. If you do ballroom you can totally do salsa too, but your salsa will be way better than actual salsa dancers, even if they do know more moves than you. Basically, salsa is the dance ballroom dancers go to if they want to win a world championship ezpz. Plus salsa clubs are chock full of creepy guys, and are very clicy.

Why hello again ffgenerations it sounds like you have some really good goals that you have set for yourself. I guess my biggest piece of advice is to take it slow and not expect any super results right away.
It is really easy to set 100 goals and then be really motivated to do them for a day... and then day 2 your exhausted and you kind of do your goals.. then day 3 your miserable as you do your goals... then day 4 you just stop doing them. I am not saying this is going to happen to you, but I know this can happen from experience as I have gone through this cycle 100 times in random activities.
If you just take it slow from the beginning, just making small changes with a big one here or there then, at least in my experience, you will be better able to stick to what you are doing and be happy as you do it.
I have also found that when i start something like working out hard again I instantly expect results, and I am always surprised with just how long it takes for good results to occur. So I guess what I am saying is be patient and don't beat yourself up too much if you think you are moving too slowly or take a day off to browse the internet or whatever.
I am impressed with your plans though and it sounds like you have some great ideas. Best of luck with your personal remodeling project!
