This a rant. Be warned.
I ordered a Viewsonic gTablet from Woot.com last Tuesday (that's almost 2 weeks ago), which was shipped through FedEx.
They first tried to deliver it on this Wednesday, which I wasn't home, so they slapped a door tag on my mail box.
On Thursday, I stayed at home to wait for the package. They delivery person came, but COULD NOT FIND MY APARTMENT DOOR. Instead, they slapped another tag on my door mailbox. Yep! I was at home waiting, while the delivery person was one floor below me.
When I found out about this on Thursday, it was already too late. I called FedEx, left them a detailed note as to how to get to my apartment, as well as telling them to NOT deliver on Friday as I would not be home on Friday to accept the package - instead deliver on Saturday instead.
So, today is Saturday, 5:28pm. Nothing got here, so I called them again and ask them what happened. It turned out it was ALREADY DELIVERED ON FRIDAY. However, I did not see it in front of my door, nor did I give consent to leaving it on front of my door. Essentially, I spent two days waiting for it, and it not only is not here, it got lost. Suffice to say I am raging right now.
The item after tax is 300 dollars. I really, really, really should have bought it at Sears for about 50 dollars more - at least I would be receiving it right-a-way. It's about two weeks already since I placed my order and I really wanted it ASAP.

Yeah well thats delivery companies for you. My dad ordered a 1500 dollars saw off ebay for a housing project and the ups guy was bringing it off the truck but he "left" his dollie at the local place or something and dropped it and it broke. Since he bought it off ebay there was no possible refund and UPS won't reimburse. Such bullshit. My family feels you lol.

reminds me of a package I got this friday. UPS tried to deliver to my home adress but I was not home so they called me and came and dropped it off at work instead.
3 days shipping and excellent service

Delivery companies can be unforgiving. My brother works at a UPS warehouse/distribution center, and he says 90% of the people that work there have no regard for your items, regardless of the warning on the boxes, shit falls all the time, they get stepped on like they were trash, and they get thrown around.
Its really sad that the deliver guy couldn't go up to the apartment office and leave it there, or ask where your apartment was -_-.

as long as they don't have a valid sign of you receiving it, you should be able to take legal actions against it. If someelse signed for it, legal actions against that person!
|
Logistics from these companies can get pretty bad sometimes.
|
Reminds me of the time the delivery person was some lazy ass bastard and just slapped the tag without ringing the door once. I got chewed out...
I camped near the door all day waiting for the lazy sob to come.
I wish I knew who did that- I want to punch that person in the face.

fedex said my gf's birthday present was on back order until august so I bough another one at the store

I ordered my old phone off fedex they "came" 3 times none of which they bothered to use the security code thingy or just walk in and knock on the door and we ended up having to go to them roughly 40 minutes away to get it.

I have no idea where they put it. I have the option to put my door tag on my door and allow FedEx to put the package in front of my door. I did not do this on Friday.

This is my problem, too. I really wanted that tablet, but the way it looks now I might not get it soon. Should I buy another one? Then I risk this one getting here magically somehow have encounter the problem you described (it is still 300 dollars). Should I not buy one? Then I won't have one for many days.
FFFUUUUUU

Or what happens to me is that you sign the paper authorizing them to leave it at your doorstep, tape it onto your door, and right next to it they stick another one of those sheets -__-

Are you sure your fedex offers Saturday delivery?
I believe Fedex only makes 3 delivery attempts so he probably had the option between leaving it at the door or sending it back to the regional facility and you would have to drive out to get it, so he probably took a gamble.
I'm pretty sure it's their unofficial policy to not leave electronics at the door so you will probably be successful if you make a complaint.

They make 3 attempts. Friday was the last attempt. However that doesn't mean they can leave electronics on the floor.

The "fragile" tag means throw underarm only!

They leave stuff all the time, electronic or not. We ordered a 42" flatscreen tv and waited for a week, I check the tracking and it was delivered 3 days prior. Location: back door.... Turns out it was left in an obscure part of my yard under some back windows and covered with some plastic. No notes or anything at front of house or mailbox. It had been storming for the past three days as well... Good thing it worked fine tho

These guys are all on schedule so they couldn't care less about your stuff. I've had some guy throw a package with a 23 inch monitor into my patio. No knocking, no delivering anything. Just throw and leave like it's a newspaper. If I wasn't there it probably would've been stolen. My brother had them deliver an empty, ripped box. The package contained a dense and heavy item and apparently it fell through the packaging way before delivery.
If you can't make the deliveries, call the corporate support number and have the desk person put a hold at location where you can go and pick it up. I'd rather drive out and pickup all my important packages instead of waiting for a careless delivery person.

Nah after he called the main office or whatever and they wouldn't reimburse he said that it wasn't worth his time because he's pretty busy right now and complains about being aggravated x.x

This is what I wanted to do, but they don't provide that service for the region I am at -__-

Wow what? I'd sue them for that money back. I can't fathom that their employee DESTROYS your package contents and you aren't refunded what so ever. If anything you could lodge a criminal complaint against the delivery driver for destruction of personal property :D.
