montreal is an old city, just driving around is cool, lots of old stuff to see. Mainly however you'll drive down the street and see liquor store porn store liquor store porn store sex toy store. Also the french are very angry people OR very nice people so be wary. Mainly Eat POUTINE and look around, there isnt much to do per-se unless you wanna go watch sports.

Check out Ottawa for sure. It's the capital of Canada and very close to Montreal.

Seriously lacking details. How old are you? How long are you going? Are you driving everywhere? Where are you planning on sleeping? What kinds of things would you want to do?
|
We're both 18 and driving, we had are planning on staying just for a day unless we can find some cheap place to sleep (maybe even in the car, not sure).
I want to see some of the history of Canada, nature, culture, food, pretty much whatever makes Canada different from Boston. Something that I wouldn't want to leave Canada without doing/seeing.

If your 18 you can drink in Quebec. The times I have been in quebec I have enjoyed it and the stereotype (French are assholes) has not been true. The women have some sort of vibe that is addicting..... You'll like quebec
|
imo Quebec City>>>Montreal
QC is split into the "old city" and "new city", and the old city still has the old stone walls around it, tons of really old and cool architecture, cobblestone streets, etc. you should be able to take a guided bus tour pretty cheap, or just walk around and look at all of the cool stuff. i've been twice and it's a really fascinating place. you can tour old war fortresses, castles, old churches, there's a really tall overpass where the city commissioned a bunch of graffiti artists to paint the giant pillars supporting it. there is a ton of cool stuff to see there. i'd also recommend staying overnight and spending 2 days there at least.

If you're on your way to Montreal, you might as well want to stop by Ottawa, my hometown. Downtown has some very nice places to eat, shop etc. Montreal is also my favourite city, you for sure want to make the most of your time there.

Like he said, In quebec if you have 18 you can do whatever you want, its the legal age for anything. Ottawa is ~2 hours away from MTL and Qc City is also ~2 hours away from MTL, so you might want to go take a look a these 2 great cities. Im a french canadian from MTL and we are NOT assholes, well there is some, just like in any country.
|
Montreal >>> Quebec City in my opinion.
I love how everyone must give disclaimers on how Quebecers are not assholes.
If you go to Montreal, go to Schwarz's for lunch. Amazing deli.

I guess its better than st jean sur richelieu but not by much! lol Actually there is some pretty cool scenery in Montreal, as I was only there for 3 months I don't really know the exact locations though >.< but going sight seeing is a definite must
+ Show Spoiler +club super sexe at night? I think so. lol

This will heavily depend on your budget.
For sight-seeing, probably you want to go to Ottawa. But this is a long way from Boston.
Toronto is not bad either. It's a big city like nyc, except cleaner.

I was in Montreal earlier this month, and everyone told me to go there. I didn't -- so I regret not going.. But hopefully, I'll go next time. Heard their food scene is pretty amazing too. I went during a super touristy time, so I couldn't get any reservations at any super exclusive restaurants.
Montreal is a pretty nice city. Though there's a lot of smokers there... It's not that big of an issue, but I'm not a fan of smoking. :\
The metro system is pretty nice too!

WTF?
I'm in Montreal Kezzer, so if you want to do something, let me know!
Quebec City is not better than Montreal. Montreal has both the old city (and old Port Montreal, a very popular tourist spot) and the new city + Mont-Royal.
There is nothing in Quebec City while Montreal incorporates over 65 Ethnicities and their foods, culture in forms of festivals and such.
There is also the Jazz Festival this summer that you should check out.

You better not come to vancouver.
|
dont come to calgary. its SOO boring and the stampede is the most overrated shit ever
|
Don't come to Winnipeg.
We don't got shit.
|
Go to Toronto, its great and youll find everything you're looking for.
|
If you're driving from Boston you are pretty restricted in where you can go, I would suggest Quebec City, Montreal and Ottawa. Anything else will be pretty far. If you are feeling up to it, Toronto and Niagara Falls!
Drinking age in Quebec is 18, Ontario is 19.
EDIT: Just saw that it was Daytrip, you are pretty much just going to want to go to Montreal; there is enough there to fill 1-2 days and it is the closest.
