Today I feel like venting, so keep that in mind when reading this laundry list of complaints.
1) Windows
It's awful. Right now I am experiencing two distinct issues. The first is the infamous blue screen of death. Windows just stops in the middle of what ever I am doing and crashes. It does not matter if it is starcraft, web browsing or word processing. Little common connection between the timing.
The second issue is that Windows will freeze and emit this awful noise from my speakers that sounds like someone is torturing small cute animals until I hold the power button down long enough that the machine shuts down.
Both of these are especially annoying when I am in the middle of a match. This is upgraded from annoying to frustrating when even after a clean reinstall of windows does not fix either of these problems. Good news is that it rules out a lot of issues, bad news is that it does not rule out enough. I am going to spend the day fiddling around with drivers.
This is why do most of my work on my Linux hard drive.
2) Cheese
First off let me say that I am really okay with losing a match. I don't measure my self worth by my win percentage. However I like to improve when I play and getting cheesed does not further that end. I know it should be easy enough to deal with and that it happens less at higher level but when I lose to it there is less to be learned than when I lose to a proper push or superior tactical command. Cheese is a reality we all have to deal with and I accept that but that fact does not make it any more fun.
3) Netflix Streaming
Netflix has become bittersweet for me. I love using it because it is so nice to have all those shows and movies on demand for a flat rate. I don't know how I could live without it. However I brought back my Wii with me this summer and as many of you may know from commercials or personal experience it is possible to stream movies though the Wii onto a TV. Great service but the lag it produces makes Starcraft II unplayable for me. So I am caught between a rock and a hard place insofar that I don't want to be an asshole and boot my family off of my Wii so I can play my game but it is my Wii (I worked a job to pay for it, it was not a gift) and I don't think I should be inconvenienced by it. Because of this I have probably put more hours into Day[9] Dailys than I have put into playing the game itself.
All in all not huge complaints in the grand scheme of things but relative to my situation they really do suck.
Till Next Time,
