Radfield part of the problem here is that you're assuming way too much. This is not a game with 50 people in it with a wide range of bad players playing. This is an 18-man invitational game with people the hosts want to have play in their game. So it's really not likely we'll hit a scummy blue or bored green with our day 1 lynch. I don't think we're going to have some kind of rabid clusterfuck only to have to rush a lynch at the end, too.
I do agree that if someone is lurky or inactive we should kill them. I hope this isn't going to be the case on day 1. Anyway, with everyone being active it's easier to catch scum. That's the point of the whole "kill inactive/lurkers" policy in the first place. But anyway, here are some points that I'm trying to get out.
1: You don't "get" some kind of magical bonus lynch by not lynching. If you want to hope that things will end up in lylo with a no-lynch on day one instead of a mylo if we were to lynch day 1, three or four days (or more) down the line, I really don't know what to tell you.
Sheesh, that sentence even confuses me and I wrote it. But I hope the point is there. Let me try again.
If you want to gamble that the lynch cycles work out so that we get a lynch later instead of a lynch day 1 without giving the mafia extra kills overall, it had better be a really crappy day 1.
2: Anyone pushing for a no-lynch dies, plain and simple. I'm okay with "this argument doesn't make sense, I'd rather no-lynch than lynch this person" if there are no other options but I seriously doubt that "no other options" will ever be the case for a non-scum paying attention to the game.
3. Everything about confirming a DT is a myriad of assumptions. Okay, we may or may not have a coroner. In addition, we may not have a medic to protect the confirmed DTs. We may not have any DT, too. So yeah.
A false DT claim, in addition to whatever resources the town wastes, also will probably waste the town's time as well. You can bet everything in the game will be focused around the claim, so after the ordeal ends however it ends that's probably at least two days with very limited information coming out of it.

Ding Ding Ding. Finally someone notices their own mistake, whether legit or not.
This is why I said -

It's mind boggling to me that some players would not notice this, or they're doing it on purpose. I wonder why.

Scamp, I basically agree with all your points. We really only disagree on the small details.

Fun Fact: I've survived past night 2 five times. Twice as mafia, once as vanilla town, once as Bulletproof town and once as Bulletproof SK. I'm surprised that lynching me Day 3 isn't standard policy....

Anyways, who are you killing tonight?
On a quick re-read, I became curious as to why Fishball asked this question and why RoL didn't answer it.
Also let it be known that I will simply flat-out ignore Caller's direct and unsubstantiated attack against me. There's nothing to respond to.
From playing previous games with him I know that he does like to post and play in that style no matter what his alignment but I suggest (and this goes for everyone, really) a change to a more active and sociable style. Hanging back and speaking minimally will likely get you killed.

2.) Since there is no flip there is no way to confirm dts. So we hang any dt who claims to have found mafia and then we lynch their claimed check. No questions asked, this is a good trade for the town 1:1 and a terrible trade for mafia. With this policy we keep the mafia from fake claiming to fuck with us.
I Am deeply troubled by this post.
First of all, having blue roles is always better than having no blue roles. I'd rather play a game with 9 greens 5 blues 4 reds (Numbers may not be accurate, but if they are, I take all credit) than a game with 14 greens and 4 reds.
Secondly, lets think, have we ever played a no reveal game where blue roles were used? Yep! TL Mafia XXXVI In this no role reveal game, greens were instrumental in pinning down and hunting the mafia from a near lylo situation. In fact, Gmarshal was in it, and he saw how blue claims preformed in the game. Gmarshal should know that blue roles are extremely useful, even if they cannot be confirmed.
Now this makes me pretty suspicious of GMarshal, but keep in mind, he probably prepared the post before game and would post it no matter what alignment he got. Of course, he's not the first one with This Idea

stupid enter key.
Anyway, this is a closed setup XXXVI was semi-open, this means that fake claims are a lot easier to pull off here. If I claim something like Funerary House Director and make up powers to go along with it, well then, how are you going to prove me wrong?
Also IIRC the only claim that was carried out in XXXVI was a fake dt claim by the mafia, to get a SK lynched, which was only counteracted by some screwiness with missing PM's for the serial killer or something like that.
Still its been a while, and I've learned a lot about playing mafia since then.

post already i want to see all the people that i have personally shot to death. with my bare two hands.
thats right. i shoot people to death with my hands. My fingernails bypass medic protection and the only thing harder than the force that they hit with is my penis.
|
also i'm claiming Drive-By Shooter which is a shooting role where I pick three people and the following three verbs: shoot, save, sodomize. So tonight expect one person to die, one person to be saved, and one person to be waking up the next morning wondering just what they ate last night. Possibly not in that order.
