The problem: When my corsair or speed shuttle encounters scourge, I make a bee-line back to my cannons. If I move the trajectory at all, the scourge usually catches up and kills the fella.
The question: How the heck do pros like Bisu twist and turn their flying units around so that the scourge doesn't catch up? Is there a certain angle I'm missing?
I'm completely baffled by this mystery, and if anyone could explain how to dodge scourge, I would much appreciate it.

I belive there is a certain angle that makes the scourge fly the other way. think it's like 120 degrees or something, but I'm most likely wrong here.
|
i too would like to know this... everytime i try to be cute and "fake" the scourge out, it doesn't work at all...
|
Just go to the cannons when they get close make a slight adjustment to throw off the attack and continue if you have shuttle speed you accelerate faster i believe cuz zig zagging won't do much unless you can zag when the scourge zigs.

thanks, im also had interest in this

As a zerg, I rarely have to deal with enemy scourge (unless zvz, but usually it never gets past the 5 pool part of the game), but I think its like the concept of when your worker is being chased by a speedling, how do you move so that it never catches up?
|
the real question should be:
How to dodge the scourge while maintaining air unit speed?
maybe i'm wrong and this is impossible, but when i watch pro zvzs they seem to scourge dodge/attack while moving at constant speed.

Nice link
edit: lol @ the commentator actually makes a funny compliment to savior at the end.. savior true hero to all zerg players

this is impossible, the speedlings are much much faster than any worker.

Against normal lings, workers are the same rate as them, so you can dodge with good micro.
Pros dodge speedlings by trickery. They switch direction, do a lot of funny business, clip through minerals, etc. etc. It confuses the AI so that their scouts don't die.
What isn't obvious in progames is that both players are furiously microing their scouts/lings to keep their scout alive or to kill the scout, but it isn't obvious the the casual viewer.
To the OP, you can't dodge scourage with sairs. You just have to fly them far enough so the scourge doesn't catch you or until you can fly over cannons or something and the scourage has to back off. The key is always, always maintain airspeed - if you stop or forget about your sair, it's dead.

i believe it was something like 30 - 45 degree angle? erm from the line the scourge will follow to kill ur unit... but this is temp and if you are not good enough will only get u killed rite after...seeing how dropships (cept zerg?) accelerate and therefore will be slow initially if it stopped after "missing" the scourge
|
Yeah you can sort of fly at the scourge, which confuses them because scourge are stupid creatures and they'll sometimes even flat outstop just before the target. This can be seen sometimes in tvz and stuff, so if you dance it right that can happen but it is a bit tricky.

OMG, i feel i'm soooo noob now, i didnt even know about these triangles, and even now that i read about it i'm sure i couldnt use it, it looks far too difficult. *feels ashamed and goes to watch the TL - YG english cast

We're not talking about computers here, I hope.

it's not about playing computers, it's about tricking the AI that controls the scourge. So it works if your opponent just selected his scourge and right-clicked on your unit. Which is what most people do.

I think you guys got i all wrong.....in Korea, scourges dodge pros.
Nah just kiddin, I saw a highlight of Rainbow where he did something with his corsairs, he made them dance over the cannon and the zerg pulled back when he realized that the cannon was owning stuff...

I think the computer just can't micro

Can anyone link to a progamer doing this? Usually I just see them bee line for other shit as well. If you watch a video you see what they are doing = learn.

if you have enough sairs, u wont have to worry about dodging scourge
