You need to keep the terran's numbers containable by your level of tech. Zerg have lots of cheap units, but they're not quite as game-changing without masses of them. So you have to be at mutalisk if you want to keep him in his base early midgame, but if he's well prepared, harass will be hard. At the same time, you need to be teching lurkers. He's still in his base, so you can contain him better than if you were trying to defend with lurkers. He'll need to wait for a tank to break out (or dmatrix if he's a baller, but you should be targeting his units with lurker spines to hit the most infantry anyway). Try to scourge vessels. The longer you can keep him without mass vessel, the better. It's worth getting a spire for NO OTHER REASON than to scourge vessels mid and late game. Chill explains this very well in his ZvT Commentary. After that, there are two ways to play - one is hard economy while you contain, and then busting out with ultras, and the other is to use defilers. Defilers are SO MUCH HARDER, but they're the better choice by far. Guardian is almost never a good option unless you have mass hydralisk and speed/sight lords, and even then, you should be using ultra hydra defiler (and ling). Muta base runs do sometimes gain big advantages lategame, though, when you can mass up enough to take out a bunker without losing significant mass. Watch out for vessels, though, and get used to splitting irradiated mutas. It's the most important part of muta micro in ZvT, by far.

thats why its called harassment its just for taking out small bits and pieces of his army in the building and damaging his econ as much as you can, as well as keeping his pesky marines and shit inside his own base so as to enable yourself to expand and get GAS!! :D:D while you're doing mutalisk harass u should be building hydra den if u haven't done so already and getting lurkers. unless ur trying to do some all in mass mutalisk thing - _-a which is usually not a very good idea unless ur really really good with your mutalisk micro like savior or julyzerg...which i don't thnk you are from your description of yourself

There's nothing I can really say to help you immediately. As I said, Zerg versus Terran micro is the hardest in Starcraft. Most of the specific help people are giving you is useless at your level; just keep playing ZvT until you're comfortable at it. As of now, ZvT is my best matchup (despite ZvP bveing rumored as "imbalanced") and the matchup I feel most confident in. If you ask more specific questions people may be able to help you more.

The only thing that really matters is to play a lot. Anyone who is quite good played a shit load to get that way. Analyze reps you lose in as well. This will help you see timings and openings in yourself and your opponent.

Make sure to spread your hydras/lurkers and burrow your lurkers within range of his mnm Oh and I was gonna say this too. At low low level using mutas or trying to do nuanced high level strats is really pointless. Go with bold shit, learn how to expand your ass off and power and be greedy.

Or is it just one of those things encompassed in "innate talent" that everyone has a set amount of? It rises as you get better. I started playing at the start of the summer and my APM was at like.. 25ish on my first game, but now I get about 110-120 on almost all my matches. It's nothing that a good amount of practice can't help. ![]()

so lurker lingmuta and then try to get hive with ultralisks. you should try to harass the terran as much as you can too. use lurkers on cliffs or lurkers near their mineral line.

If you have 40 APM, you're somebody who's attack clicking and WATCHING. Keep yourself occupied.
