Was dicussing with Zatic earlier via PM about the EURO 2012 Sub Forum and why there was one for EURO 2012 considering its only 4-6 weeks long and only 16 teams enter and compete. So it got me wondering why not divide up the Sports and Game forum into Sports sub forum and Games forum. Thus more active threads and specific viewers into each thread. So it could get new people looking around inside it.
There is alot of games TL people play as well of the ususal SC2 we all come here for, but i think they need to be divided up atleast into seperate sub forums now as its getting pretty big in there. The content in both forums of OPs are really high level and well thought out. F1 2012 Thread NBA Playoffs Thread Then you have Football 2011-12 Thread Which just seems all out of place and out of date in the new forms of what we have of quality posters on this site now, and i just think it could be worth looking into a seperate sub forum for Sport in general if not just for Football itself.

I've been pushing for a long time to separate the Sports forum from the Games forum. I think it's absurd that we cram everything in there together, and deliniating between the two would make so much sense. I thinks it's even crazier to give one specific sporting event it's own forum, why not give MLB playoffs their own forum? Wouldn't need it's own forum if sports had a separate one...

Yeah i thought about that when writting half way through was just picking due to EURO 2012 sub forum for something thats maximun 6 weeks long and its only 16 teams and Europe only. But i hope TL think about Splitting games and sports, would be good.

I fully support this.
On the other hand you realise that if the admins permit this, then everyone could request a subforum for any other sport. And that's bad cause we will have 40 million forums unless the moderation goes ''no you cant have one, only for bball and football, the other sports are not that popular'' and that's kinda douchy towards the other fans.

I want an underwater basket weaving subforum. :-P
Honestly though S&G hardly has any active topics anyway, if we split it further they'd be even more dead. (Not an official response, just an observation)

Well, all the sports topics are very active, in my opinion, and well all the GW2 topics seem active enough too me? And theres always something new game wise for people to talk about? I just think if you added a sub forum for EURO 2012 for 4-5 weeks off limited european football you would think about dividing up Sports and Games. As im sure it will become more active than some of the other sub forums you have. Plus it means more license to start threads in each cateogry too and to keep up to date.
If you could re change the title of this thread as well to possibly "Sub forum for each Sports and Games" as well just to make people aware before they click!

True, but TL Mafia doesn't have many topics either, but that doesn't mean we should merge it with the BW forum. Obviously they're two completely different things and deserve separate subforums. That's how I see S&Gs. It just seems bizzare to me that a forum built around a PC game doesn't have a dedicated video game forum. That makes like no sense to me at all.

You should really keep this discussion separate from the Euro subforum. The Euro 2012 forum is temporary and will vanish again after the event is over. We have had the same for Euros and World cup for years.

Feel free to change the title to Sub Forum for Sports and Games pleaese Zatic.

I agree with this i am very active in the sports threads but not so much games and find myself lost scrolling the list sometimes

I can just imagine the epic trolling and flamebaiting, too. Certain... leisure activities... are embroiled in age old troll type arguments about whether they "qualify" as sports, based on literal vs arbitrary definitions.

You could make it "Sports & Hobbies " and solve some of what you say though JingleHell. Either way I don't think it would be a big issue tbh.
But I am with the OP on this. I don't know the specific view-counts or visitor-regularity data to those threads/sub-forums or TL in general be able to fully justify it, but from just visual observation, I would say it has more of a chance for success than failure. As a sports junkie I always find myself going into "last posts" to see responses and keep up to date on those threads or having to click on "sports & games" to navigate to what I want. First world problems of course (=P) but it is a good idea brought up that might merit some consideration.

Are there any easily collectable stats as to this fact? I would be interested because I do think that quite a lot of us talk on these threads whenever it involves an important sports event. But you are right whenever nothing important is going on then it can be quite dead.
PS +1 vote for underwater basket weaving subforum.

Underwater basket weaving could also be classified under "Sports & Hobbies" so win-win

I'd much rather have a football sub forum but I don't think there's enough contributors to create the populated forum I'm imagining
A Chelsea sub-forum wouldn't hurt though ^^

I'm starting to think that there should be two separate subs.
One for sports
One for games
Right now it's sort of a mishmash of both of them and they aren't really related.
