Mafia LI + Show Spoiler [Important Posts] +
Introduction: Mafia is an educated guessing game of epic proportions. The objective of the game is to lynch or kill all mafia members before they outnumber the rest of the town. It's much like a game of poker because mafia members are also part of the town during the day and may manipulate the vote to their liking. If the mafia at any time outnumber or equal the townspeople, they win. The town's goal is to lynch all the members of the mafia.
The game is typically very active, so the thread will get big quickly. However, it is essential to read the thread to play the game. If you do not have the time or patience to read the whole thread, do not play. I will not compensate for ignorance.
Rules: Cheating: Cheating includes (but is not limited to): 1. Posting after death. You may have one polite goodbye post, but it may not contain any potentially game-changing information. 2. Ruining the game by doing something like hand out your mafia's member list to the town. 3. Logging on to someone else's account to get their role or looking over someone's shoulder to get their role. 4. Comparing role PM times to determine roles. 5. Posting screenshots of your inbox. 6. Posting or sharing any PM you receive from a host. 7. Getting yourself modkilled to help your team. Your non-majority-decided death may not be used as a bargaining chip. 8. Signing up more than once using smurf accounts. 9. Betting items outside of the game in exchange for in-game benefits. 10. Sharing accounts with other players. Cheating is not tolerated here. The punishment will be severe.
Posting: Mod Font: This is mod font. It is reserved for moderators. Please do not use it.
Question Font: This is question font. Use it to ask the moderators questions about the rules. Please do us a favor and read the rules before you ask anything.
Activity: You must post in this thread once per day/night cycle and vote every day while you are alive. If you fail to do so, you will be modkilled.
Smurfs: Must PM me, if you attempt to smurf without informing me, and I find out, there will be consequences.
Spam: Spam is not tolerated, nor is any off-topic material. Do not discuss Proleague here. Do not talk about Starcraft II here. Play Mafia here.
Editing: Editing is not allowed for any reason. Editing will result in a warning. After that, you will be modkilled. This is the one part of the site where it is okay to be double posting, even triple-posting. While I ask for everybody to post as concisely as possible, post again if you have to edit anything.
Inappropriate posts: If you want to post something insulting or inappropriate and know the TL mods would have a problem with it elsewhere, don't post it here. I will straight up ban/warn you. This is still TL, while aggressiveness is acceptable, I'm still holding you to the same standards I would elsewhere on TL.. The hosts have the final say on what is inappropriate. If you do not like how someone is talking to you, please PM me.
Reporting posts: The report button is a nice feature for regular TL, but not for this forum. We prefer to deal with things in house if possible to avoid confusion among the TL staff. If you have a problem with how someone is posting, talk to me. Before using your report button. Please do not use your report button for anything other than inappropriate posts which you feel are not being dealt with adequately. If you do, I will know, and I won't be happy.
Ban discussions: Please wait until this game is over to talk about modkills and bans resulting from this game.
Play to win. This means you play your best to help your team win while you are alive and in the game. However, this does not mean that you should try to win by being a jerk to the other players so they all want to quit playing.
This also means that you cannot leave the game without a good reason without a ban. These situations will be dealt with on a case by case basis. PM your host if you need to leave the game.
You have been warned.
Out of thread communication: It is common for mafia (and town circles if PMs are allowed) to use a medium outside of TL such as QuickTopics or IRC to communicate during the game. Please be mindful that other players may be more tech savvy than you and they may attempt impersonate members of your team or attempt to infiltrate your chat. You use these media at your own risk.
Voting rules: 1. Voting is done in a separate thread, located here. Please keep votes there, and only vote there. Do not PM me your vote. 2. Please vote in the following format: ##Vote: GMarshal Votes not done in the correct fashion will not be counted. I will update vote counts whenever I get the chance. 3. No conditional voting. 4. You may vote for yourself. You may not vote for anyone dead or outside the game. 5. This game uses Extended Majority Lynch. That is, at the deadline the player with a majority of votes is lynched (majority = 1/2 the remaining players, rounded down + 1), if no one has a majority then no lynch will take place. 6. Voting is mandatory. You may NOT abstain. You MAY vote for a no lynch by posting ##Vote: No Lynch
Signups: This game is open to anyone. Signups will remain open until all 30 spots are full..
Game-specific rules: Modkills: This game follows the TL Mafia Ban List. If you are modkilled, your punishment will go beyond being eliminated from this game. Please refer to it for questions about your punishment. If you want to use this game to sit out your ban, please PM Flamewheel or post in the Ban List.
Replacements This game uses replacements. Replacements will be made in the game until I can't find any more "volunteers". If a player is modkilled during the designated time, then they will be replaced by a player on the replacement list.
Clues: There are NO clues.
PMs PMs are NOT allowed in this game.
Time Cycle: This game will follow a (24 hour night/48 hour) day cycle. In case I am not able to post around deadline, any votes after the 48 hour mark will not count and the game will be put on halt until the night post is up. Currently the deadline is 02:00 GMT (+00:00), but that is subject to change. Actions/votes will be accepted up to but not including the posted time (so votes at 10:59:59 will be counted, votes at 11:00:00 will not)
Credits: Thanks to anyone who has ever hosted a game. This list grows ever longer. Thanks to everyone who helped balance this game. Thanks to Zona for allowing the use of ZBot.
If you have not read all the rules, go back and do so. I will not compensate for ignorance!

Fluff
It was an ordinary day in the royal court, at least for you, oh there was the usual talk of conspiracies and anti-monarchist movements, along with the subtle plotting and usual bickering that is simply a part of daily court life, but nothing was out of place. Or so you thought, until you found a letter, with an extraordinary waxen seal, somehow left upon your work desk, with your name written out in perfect flowing calligraphy. With curiosity getting the better of you, you broke the seal, and read the contents of the letter. The letter was brief, and written in the same flowing calligraphy as the name on the outside of the envelope
You are cordially invited to attend the royal masquerade, two days from now, in the Chateau de le Pendere. Only you and a select few Ladies and Gentlemen have been invited to this extraordinary event. Be present for the chance of a lifetime.
The evening promises to be most entertaining.
Do not forget to wear a costume of both taste and originality.
The party will begin promptly at 7 PM
~Lady Tourment
The night is here, and so are you, standing in a costume before the imposing doors of the mansion. It is far too late to turn back. It is time to learn what this "chance of a lifetime" really is. Let the revelry begin.
Roles and Setup information
This is a semi-open setup, that is, exact role counts will not be known, but the possible roles will be known. All roles presented here are not necessarily in the game, but no roles not included here are present.
Town Roles Nobles Wincondition (Town)- The Nobles wins when there are no Anti-Monarchists (mafia) left in the game
Lord or Lady (Vanilla Townie) - A regular attendee of this party, when the macabre game starts you are terribly shocked. You have no special powers or abilities, but every day you will vote to try to kill the anti-monarchists, before they can kill you. Use your brain and your vote, or you will surely all perish.
Traitorous Lord (or Lady) (Traitor) - the name says it all, you have betrayed the monarchy in an attempt to save your own hide. You have the same win condition as the Anti-Monarchists, but none of their powers, you don't even know who they are. You win when they outnumber the remaining town. Investigator checks on you return Innocent. Otherwise you are a regular Lord or Lady for all intents and purposes
Royal Spy (Tracker) - Licensed by her Majesty in person, you were sent to this "party" to find out what is happening. Now that you are locked in you can put your vast skill at following people undetected to good use. Every night you may watch a single player and find out the first person they visited that night. (in order of resolution)
Undercover Investigator (Detective) - You have been pretending to be a noble for quite some time now, having been placed in that position by high Chancellor to try to sniff out any Anti-Monarchists among the nobility. Every night you may observe one of the attendees at this party and see if they are really harboring anti-monarchist sentiments. Your checks return either Innocent or Guilty. Your sanity is not guaranteed, as serving in this position may have twisted your perception of reality. You may be either Sane, Insane, Paranoid or Naive.
Perspicacious Lord (or Lady) (Watcher) - You have always been among the most observant in the nobility, and at this party that ability is going to be extremely useful to you. Every night you may watch a player and see everyone who visits him that night.
Monarchist Defender (Vigilante) - You are the true paragon of the nobility in these dark times. You knew something was afoot (as the cousin of the Queen you are truly well informed!) and you brought your pistol along with you. Naturally it only has one bullet, but its better than nothing. During any night of the game you may choose to fire at a player, this works exactly like a mafia hit. If your shot stacks with a mafia kill or another vigilante, it will not be refunded, if you are roleblocked, you will not lose your shot, even if you intended to fire that night.
General (Veteran) - A General of the glorious army, you were promoted to nobility after your stunning actions in the great war. You are incredibly canny and tough, and are ready to react to the slightest sign of trouble. Because of this you have an extra night life. This functions exactly as if a medic were protecting you from one KP until such at time as you lose this night life. This ability can be roleblocked, and medic protects are resolved before veteran lives. You will be notified when you lose this night life.
Fortune Reader (Medic) - A lord or lady who believes in the arts of astrology and the tarot. Every night you may cast the cards for another attendee at the ball, and see if they will die. If you discover that they would be killed, you prevent that kill. Your ability isn't strong enough to stop more than one kp though. If you stop a hit both you and the target will be notified.
Priest Confessor. (Mason) - A leading member of the church, you managed to get in thanks to the fact that you know all the gossip about everyone in this town. Because of your Priestly status, you have the ideal excuse to pass messages among different members of the party. Every night you may visit another player in the game and add them to your secret gossip circle. All players in the circle will talk in the same qt.
Secretive(Miller mechanic) - Any town role may have the "Secretive" trait. This makes them return the opposite of what they should to Undercover Investigators, that is if a sane Undercover Investigator checks a Secretive Lord, he would return Guilty. Secretive players do not know that they are secretive
Overly Inquisitive(Wandering townie mechanic) - Any town role may have the "Overly Inquisitive" trait. This trait causes them to wander at night, visiting people at random, Overly Inquisitive people tend to congregate where there are more people, so the more people visiting a target, the higher the chance of an overly inquisitive person showing up there. Overly Inquisitive players do not know that they are Overly Inquisitive
Mafia Roles Anti-Monarchist (mafia) Win condition- The Anti-Monarchist's wins when they equal or outnumber the remaining townies or nothing can keep that from happening.
Anti-Monarchist (mafia) Powers - (all mafia have these, unless specifically stated otherwise) All mafia may vote, as ordinary Lords or Ladies. All mafia may communicate with each other outside the thread, by any means they wish, and know who the other mafia are. As a group, the mafia team have kp equal to the remaining mafia/2, rounded up, each night, which they may use however they want.. They also have the Delay power communally. That is, any night, they may choose to take -1 to their KP (minimum 0), and instead have + 1 kp the following night. The delay power may not be used on consecutive nights. The Mafia may choose who on their team conducts the kills, but anyone using a power may NOT also kill, unless there is no one else available to perform the kill, in which case he may both kill and use his power.
Anti-Monarchist Scum (Mafia Goon)- The lowest of the low, you have no special powers, outside of the usual Anti-Monarchist powers. You won't let this brilliant chance to strike a blow against the monarchy get away though. Slaughter the nobles and return to the position you deserve!
People's Noble (Godfather)- You are a noble, yet you hate the monarchy. You will lead this rabble in order to establish yourself as the new ruler of this puny empire. Because you are actually a noble Undercover Investigators checking you, will conclude you are Innocent. You have access to all the normal Anti-Monarchist powers.
Politician(Framer) - You are a rabble-rouser, but you've always had a way with words. In addition to the usual mafia powers, you may talk with a player each night, making them spew Anti-Monarchist propaganda if they were Monarchists, or the opposite if they were not, essentially framing them. This means that any Undercover Investigators will recive the opposite result of what they should. That is, a Sane Undercover Investigator checking a framed Lord would return Guilty
Astrologer (Medic) - An Anti-Monarchist who believes in the arts of astrology and the tarot. Every night you may cast the cards for another attendee at the ball, and see if they will die. If you discover that they would be killed, you prevent that kill. Your ability isn't strong enough to stop more than one kp though. If you stop a hit both you and the target will be notified. You have the usual mafia powers.
Anti-Monarchist Opium Dealer (Roleblocker)- An Anti-Monarchist with a stash of opium, every night you may convince a player to try this new drug, causing them to fall into a deep sleep, and preventing them from performing any night actions. Roleblocked players will be notified that they were roleblocked. You have the usual mafia powers.
Anarchist (Vigilante) - You don't really belive in this teamwork thing, but it was the only way to get in here. You managed to smuggle in a gun with a single bullet too. Now go out there and cause some chaos. This bullet is essentially a one shot mafia kp. You have the usual mafia powers as well.
Stealthy (Ninja Mechanic) - The Stealthy trait may apply to any Anti-Monarchist, if someone is Stealthy, they may not be watched or tracked. This affects both any powers that person may have as well as any kills they may conduct. Stealthy players will know of their stealthy nature. What this means is that a tracker targeting a Stealthy Anti-Monarchist Opium Dealer who targets someone at night would return "stayed home". If a watcher watched the Stealthy Anti-Monarchist Opium Dealer's target, he would see everyone who visited that night, except for the Opium Dealer.

A few GMarshal specific tidbits
1.) Play nice. This is a refined game, I expect you all to behave like Gentlemen (or Ladies, as the case may be). I will not hesitate to modkill or outright ban you for excessive behavior
2.) Don't spam. This isn't IRC, try to consolidate your posts, its horrible when pages 20-80 are all one line posts between two players yelling at each other
3.) Activity. Yes, the guideline is one post per cycle and a vote, but I'll be disappoined if that is the most you do. I do keep track of activity levels, so if you are really inactive I'll make sure you don't get invited to any of my future invitationals, or get preference in signups. Too inactive and I might blacklist you altogether.
4.) Memes. While I don't mind the occasional funny one, it gets old really, really fast when you people spam them, especially the unfunny ones. Before you post a meme, think if its actually worth it, because it makes me sad when you take an old and overused meme and post it again, it's just sad. It's better to be original and funny.
5.) Every single role has custom fluff, it is perfectly ok to claim this fluff, but beware, the mafia has received safe claims Vanilla townie safe claims, and a total of six additional safe claims for other roles of their choice. All they have to do is PM me their selections. Mafia team, try asking me with lots of time, rather than when the town wants you to claim within 3 minutes or be lynched, as I'm not always on, and writing role fluff takes me a little while.
6.) You may claim your role in full if you so desire, with all the attached fluff, and there will be no consequences, you do not have to paraphrase it. You may not include the time when you received it however.
7.) Have fun. This is a game, the point is to enjoy yourself, so by all means, roleplay to your hearts content, lynch mafia, kill townies, dance and have a ball, there is no point in stressing out over a game.

It seems that, unlike usual Traitors, mafia cannot communicate with him once they identify him. Correct?
Also yeah, I gotta play some normal games for once
