We are looking into ways of letting you switch between servers, no matter whether you buy a European or American version of the game. As for the second question you won't be able to play in the same game using different servers, as we have never had global servers for our games. It is our goal for the future, but won't be there for release. Source.
So, both cross-server play and chat channels are coming post-release. I guess Blizzard is listening to the community after all. Now all we need is better privacy options and bnet2.0 is starting to look pretty awesome

THAT IS SO FREAKING NICE TO HEAR. So this solves the problem of participating in international tournaments but also if you want to play against friends from other continents :D Practice partner thread anyone?

Taking back all the bad things I said or thought about Blizzard. They really seem to try hard to make all our dreams and wishes come true.

This has been said already in the past days, although maybe not as clearly as here.

THATS SO FREAKING BAD TO HEAR. comming one day.... perhaps..... and not sure if it will cost money. dam this a bad news not good ones.
i think this are no nice to have options. like: "oh thx bliz for adding such features". this are essential options. its like : you want to drive with your car in a other city. Yeah we will do this in a upgrade but for moment pls stay in your city with it.
so this what they say is : "done when its done" was the past. game is ready in upgrade nr 20 is future...

Just wondering how soon after release this will happen.

I hope everyone will stop whining so much now. We'll be getting some form of chat channels, clans, and cross-server play post release. LAN is yet to be seen, but I'd put my money on there being something worked out in the end.

Considering the fact that they've previously stated that cross-realm play wouldn't be in the game at all, them saying that it's actually coming is waaayyy better than the alternative. and i'm not saying "oh thx bliz for adding such features", i'm saying "thank god you came to your senses, Blizzard"

i'm pretty sure we'll have to pay for that, i hope the price won't exceed 5 or 10$

This is great news .

Bad to hear? They weren't even planning on doing this in the beginning. Now they listened to the community and wants to add it in. Blizzard has always been using words that only gives an approximate timeframe, nothing new here.
Your comparison is terrible.
None knows if it will cost money or not, so stop this stupid shit. And anyway I prefer paying $5 for cross-server than buying a new copy for $60 (and later on $120 for both expansions)
