The Liquipedia Review - Volume VII
Brought to you by the Liquipedia staff! Happy Anniversary!
It's been a while since the last update, and while we know that all you avid folks have been browsing Liquipedia like mad, we'd like to bring you some news from on stage and behind the scenes.
1. ANNIVERSARY!
Before we plunge into what's new and hip in wikiland, we'd like to point out that Liquipedia has been around for 1 year!
That's right, on June 6th 2009, Liquipedia saw the e-light of internetday for the first time. We're pretty excited about this joyful event and have prepared a couple of special birthday events to celebrate our jubilee!
Podcast!
To start off we're releasing a podcast - Members of both TeamLiquid and Liquipedia staff talk about past successes and failures, current issues and projects and our plans and hopes for the future. Download now to listen to a reminiscence of one year of Liquipedia and get updated on where we're going.

Contest!
So you think you can write? Well, put your skills to good use and help Liquipedia out! We're going to run an article-writing contest and are giving away a Hwaseung Oz shirt to the best one. The details are in this topic.
2. Popularity!
We are well above the 2 million view mark, and we have over ten thousand edits! Although we appreciate the work done, we want to remind you to log in when editing so we can thank the right people! Since the beta is going to shut down, you've got a couple options:
- Help fix Liquipedia II! Some talented members with an eye for detail (who?) have been helping with quick grammar and style edits, and others who understand the game are adding even more to the wiki.
- Browse Liquipedia I. No doubt you will experience some nostalgia at TL's summer camp this year, and you'll want to read about old rivalries and games between players.
3. Strategy
Our Strat section has been gaining some more articles but we're still missing the most basic builds and openings. As Liquipedia, we strive not only to document, but also to be a tool for beginning players to learn from. We therefore introduce the BronzeProof icon - recommended builds for beginning players to use. Help us add these builds!
4. Leagues, Players, Teams
by Flicky
There has been an exciting occurance that is happening more and more frequently: Liquipedia being used as a platform by professional organisations. For a while ZOTAC admins have been adding to the ZOTAC Cup pages and even more recently, Serious Gaming made pages for their entire roster. Having these people in the eSports industry starting to recognise Liquipedia as a place for all StarCraft knowledge is a great thing that makes us feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
On from here, you may have noticed the increasing numbers of player pages as well as a fancy new Players Portal to make browsing that little bit easier. We're really starting to branch out and getting a lot of top players here as they begin to establish themselves before the beta comes to an end. With the arrival of these Asian leagues we are starting to flesh out the server that is just that little bit harder to cover but with your help, we can get this rolling.
One fine addition to the Players portal is the Teams section that aims to include information about all the top clans worth knowing and having links to the players involved. With this new section, we can bring more and more information about your favourite players to you. With replay packs, interviews and results being released all the time, we need you to help us out and keep information about your favourite players up to date! I'm looking at you TLO Fan Club!
5. StarCraft community by country
Another fancy new page on the StarCraft II wiki is our article on http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/SC2_communities_by_country . Apart from international events, there are a bunch of national and local events taking place as well. Per country we're trying to list the useful information for its Starcraft loving inhabitants. Contribute by adding what's going on int your country so that your fellow countrymen may find their way there.
6. Tournament section
by Julmust
During the beta the number of tournaments has been nothing less than overwhelming, coming from making three tournament pages in a year to this has been exciting, fun and a bit scary. Every time I look trough the forums there's a new tournament forming. The downside to this is that I only have a limited amount of time on each page, and I want to give deL a huge "thank you" for helping out, so all the individual pages has been done by "Form 1A" which is something I didn't want to do but had to do to be able to update everything.
So while the beta is down the tournament pages will get a revamp and my goal with this is to get some individuality to each page. So when the beta comes back up I'll make sure to have the pages done, I'll also add some new tournaments to the section and if you know of a tournament that has been missing on the portal either post here or PM me.
As previously mentioned my thanks go out to deL for updating pages but also to the Zotac guys for updating their own page. Not only does that make my work easier, it also ensures that all the information is correct and that reppacks gets uploaded.
7. Liquipedia I
We're proud to announce a whole new section being added to the wiki: http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft/Portal:BGH is a new Portal dedicated entirely to Team versus Team play on Big Game Hunters. This map and its consequent gametype have been pretty popular among the foreign scene, with its own set of followers and strategies. We've seen some action on it in the recent Beta Key giveaways, and we'll be sure to see some great brawls on it in the Betaless weeks to come. So, check it out to read up on your daily dose of BGH and help us improve, what we like for it to become, the ultimate BGH reference.
Ah, and before I forget, massive props and thanks to 2pacalypse, who set this entire thing up almost single-handedly!
See you on the Wiki!
