masteries 21-0-9 get the doran ring, or mana crystal or whatever. you will need it. early catalyst works great in this setup. unless you are playing a character that isnt very reliant on mana of course. masteries 9-0-21 Regen or mana crystal, as you wont need the mana regen. | ||

1. Dorans Ring / Shield (Shield offers more staying power) 2. Boots 1 3. Guinsoo 4. Finish either tabi / mercury 5 / 6. Atma + Bloodthirster Cleanse / Ghost / Flash are viable summoner skills. I don't like Dorans Blade. Always run elixirs if you are above 13 lvl. You might wanna run some mp5 runes if you are always low on mana. | ||

maybe it's just my playstyle or something, but I just have never been happy opening doran's blade on anyone. I've always thought I'd be better off with a longsword or vampiric scepter or regen amulet or anything else that's not doran's blade. | ||

edit: I usually get doran blade on twitch just because I stack 4 of them to dominate mid game. Shield is much better as starter item if you aren't planning to do so :p | ||

Point remains, it's a horrible item on a hero like Jax, especially as you're supposed to go AP on him. | ||

If it's a good game I'll get BF before the game ends. Otherwise it'll be a long-as-hell game where I have the ability to get IE and sometimes more. But that's like one-in-five, at best, for me now. I'm in Brees' boat. Twitch's farming power and speed sucks too much to waste money on dead-end items, but whatever works for you, until it stops working ;p Edit: Not to mention this is even with my team always working to delay the end of games as long as possible for me to get farmed. Even so games usually end in about 30 minutes or less. Everyone and their mother knows the longer the game goes, the more likely Twitch will have one good attack on your team and turn the game around. | ||

Lifesteal value is about 12%/450 gold (from vampiric scepter), so the value of the lifesteal is ~ 600 gold AD value is about 25/925 gold (from pickax), so the value of the AD is ~ 888 gold HP value is about 430/1100 gold (from giant's belt), so the value of the HP is ~ 1227 So the value of 4 doran's swords is equivalent to about 2715 gold worth of basic items. Doing a less hypothetical analysis, you can get similar bonuses to 4 doran's swords by just buying a vampiric scepter, a pickax and a giant's belt, but you'll end up paying 735 more gold, having 1 more AD, 4% less lifesteal, and 50 less HP. I did this sort of analysis, and it (along with suggestions in this thread) led me to try stacking doran's swords. It's just never really worked out for me, and I wouldn't recommend people do it. I suppose it makes sense when you are playing a character that sucks at farming and doesn't expect to get more than about 5K throughout the course of a game (enough to get LW, treads, + 4 doran's swords) or plans on spending a buttload after that on the next item and wants some midgame staying power. I just find myself building towards 2-3 items after my treads, and stacking doran's swords just slows down my builds too much. | ||

By the way Mog, assuming you start with a DSword you only need 3 more, so it's actually like 1305. To which I say I'd rather keep going for a BF sword or just buy a Pickaxe/+18% crit cloak, and that's usually what happens for me :x | ||
