If you do try in the next few turns 1.Rome will be conquered and offer peace 2. Greece will want you to form a friendship(could help us fight Iroquois) 3.Japan will start to expand like crazy around you so be weary of their incoming cities 4.Iroquois will declare war and you are in for the battle of your life
I guess it's to me now, again. I vote to restart, on Emperor. Danjoh, if I could ask you a favor to remake the game (everything the same except Level 6 Diff.) with your non-DLC infected Civ 5, could you please?

Emperor restart sounds fine to me... no matter what happens we'll have an easier spawn than we just did lol

dude it's np, i think i should have just settled in my initial city location... I forgot you can't be very greedy in Deity. We had to spend time producing units for war which set us back... etc etc. It only takes a minor setback to trigger a cascade when you're playing on the hardest setting.

I can start one (DLC free) if you give me a bit (at home now). Huge/Continents/Standard/Emperor/Random leader sound about right?
(Giving me a bit since MLG is distracting )

Damn! China would of been amazing for Diety considering the Chu-Ko-Nu being amazing for City Defense and the increased spawn rate of War Generals. And the Paper Maker for a Science win / make up for the scientific advantages the computer gets... ugh, it's amazing how much better China would of been then Britain, haha.
The starting location actually looks much, much better for founding a city since we have the river and two luxury goods. This will be an easy win, but I guess it depends again on us getting unlucky with militaristic personalities for civilizations spawning near us.
edit:
Also, tyvm Danjoh for making these games! I probably won't even be able to play this one, but I'm still very appreciative since its actually a lot of fun to read the progression. I'm greatly enjoying the Civ 4 and Dwarf Fortress succession games as well.

You can still play! It's a great way to learn and just have fun. It's really not about winning so much as it is about getting to play with people and see the merging of play styles.
And yeah, the problem with Deity setting (and any version above King) is that the early advantage of the computer can sometimes be obnoxious. I had a game on Emperor and only 100 turns in to the game there were two civilizations that had over 9000 gold (no joke), no wars were declared, they had no gold / silver / gems as luxury goods, and they only had a few cities while I had six gold mines and plenty of other luxury goods but only had a few hundred gold with less than 100 gold per turn. I had no idea how they managed it, but I quit as soon as I saw they had that much gold... it's not a fun game if you or the computer can just mass purchase units and defensive structures if you attack them.

I tend to watch streams on mute, I'm not big on music when I play (or do anything for that matter)... I always have sounds off unless I'm listening to commentary or I forget to turn it off.

So this time, we have a pretty average start. Settled on the Sugar. Went NE, and only found sheep. Went Scout ---> Monument, Pottery ---> Writing

Got Mining from the Tech hut. Got 2 of the Weapon upgrades on both the warrior and scout, so had a Spear AND an Archer early game But lost the Spear to Barbs, sorry guys Found Mt. Fuji though!

Met this guy.
![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/r9gHv.jpg)
Wasn't Friendly yet to get 50g for Open Borders > Borrowed 90 gold for 4 gpt from him, got 25 from a Barb camp, + the 100 from the ruin + our regular gpt = Paper Maker
Met these people. Neutral indeed. After Calendar finished, sold Sugar for 214g and 1gpt. Invested 250 into these folks

Land isn't that great, 20 turn NC >.< Just got a worker from Liberty tree ---> Citizenship. Using him to build a hillside farm, so worth it imo. No culture ruin meant no Meritocracy yet

Beginning play presently. Streaming live at livestream.com/blazinghand
FINISHED! + Show Spoiler + Lost the archer.
Rushed Theocracy, the rushed Civil Service (part of ongoing Education Rush)
Got Meritocracy which I used for a Great Engineer who I used to rush Great Library (which rushed Theocracy).
Got the +Settler policy as well. Laid down a city and bought a monument in it. Built up some tiles with the lone worker.
Bought a Temple in the capital.
Finished Stonehenge. pulling in 20 policy per turn now.
Capital is spitting out settlers so we can claim some land. I sense tensions in our future with Persia, so we need to expo while we can >>
Screenshots will be up tomorrow.
VoD of the game: http://www.livestream.com/blazinghand/video?clipId=pla_d83d03b3-b142-4d53-8bc4-2895e7b57603

Turn 81. if you can do some wheeling and dealing, maybe buy a temple (or a paper maker) in the new city. Otherwise, keep on improving tiles and GET TO EDUCATION TECH. If you can do this, everything else should fall into place rather nicely.

Challenge accepted.
I'll play through them later this afternoon and post it up right after :D

Well I don't want to play if I'm just going to wreck everyone's fun because I don't know the first damn thing about how to play the game. It'd be like a bunch of Diamond players dragging a Bronze idiot in a 4v4. I'm having plenty of fun watching the game, so don't worry about me. Thanks for the invite

Great idea, wish I had the time to do this
