Hi stylish, where can I find the buildorder for the "siege expand" strat? What strat do you recommend for a beginner? Thx in advance

I haven't done a regular siege expand into 4 5 or 6factpush yet.
Flashbuild is one variant of siegeexpand.
I guess you could do the 5factbuild without building marines/vults in the beginning and just get ebay and siegemode and from there play it like the 5factbuild but with 6 facts instead.

I would reccomend using the 5factpush for beginners.
It's not the best strategy on top level, where 4fact or 6fact are usually better if you can really take advantage of the protoss timings, but its good enough for B- B+ ranks and definately good enough for any below that.
It gives you the oppertunity to be agressive in the start if you need to and it will also be pretty safe vs any sort of rush and its standard, transitions well into lategame and there isnt any hard counter to it.

Simply put, it will give you everything you need to work on as a D low/midlevel B+ player.

Hi stylish, thanks for all your work here. I have trained ur strategies for 2 weeks (first time playing terran im a protoss player since 3 years ago) and i started to win games XD, im 58-90 in iccup, but i feel improving and im happy, i believe this its the better strategy thread of tl.net.
Beat after beat i will become stronger.

If you have questions, read through the FAQ, watch the VODs and if you still don't get an answer I'd be happy to answer it here.

I hope that by checking this thread every once in a while and answer questions like I have been for 53 pages is a very useful reasource for you guys.
Alot of people write guides and give help which is great but I think its even better to follow through completely like this although it takes alot of work. All questions asked here might end up in the FAQ if I think its a valid question.

When I get my new computer I will have 1 month left to play then I'll leave for the summer and then I'm moving to a place where I'll probably won't have a computer for a while and when I do I don't think I'll still be able to play broodward. Infact I mean not to, sicne I will focus more on other stuff etc.
This thread was an opportunity for me to help as many as possible before I quit.
Would be sad to see some of the selfinvented strats go to waste Although most of them are copied from progamers.

On top of my head, EE Timing, roflstrategy and the partly the nukestrat.
The nukestrat was originally done by casy but my way is pretty different.
Most strategies has minor changes to make them better in my oppinion, such as the opening for a-yu-mi where you take your CC later etc, its explained in the buildvod i think.

I have some more that I might upload if I get the chance.

What's a good 1-base bio build? Kind of like the one Casy did in his latest games with 3rax + siege push?

I seldom use 1base bioplay.

Simply because its really hard to pull off.
Some alternatives though.

  • 2rax tankpush, in order to break the sunkens at zerg exp and take out the natural.
    Im not sure about the tech in detail but ill try to find out. Its something like gas after second suply etc.

  • 2rax fakebreak into drop.
    You tech to starport from 1 rax and make a second rax while teching.
    Your drop doesn't have the fastest droptiing but you fake a push with 2bats 2medics and about 10 marines t force hi making sunkens at his natural and you follow behind your troops with a drop, then do the elevator into zergs main.

  • 8rax into sunkenbreak. You make 8rax and make a bunkerrush and followup with fast academy 2rax sunkenbreak.

  • ROFLStrat. Check it out in the op.

  • Nukestrat. Check out freestyle game 3.

Stylish, do you have any 1-base fast ebay sunken bust build-orders? I've been playing around with a 11rax 12gas 13ebay etc. but I don't know how to optimize the build properly. The build order I've messed around on ling-proof wallable maps is something like... 11rax 12gas 13ebay, take 2 scvs off gas at 88 gas, start +1(Not sure if armor or weapons is better. Armor makes sunkens 3-hit marines, weapons makes you kill faster), then I cut all marines and cut SCVs(not making any more until the push) starting at about 18 supply, make 2 more barracks, start marines again, make an academy, keep making marines, research stim when academy is done and get 3 medics, move out with 3 medics and the marines(about 12), reinforcing with 1 more medic and 2 firebats, then maarines. the upgrade and the stimpack finish on the same second, around when you'll be at the Zerg base, that's around 5:55 I think.

So is this a viable build-order? Any other alternatives? I think the Zerg needs at least 4 sunkens to stop this, probably 5. I guess that if they're doing a 3-hatch mutas you can just build up mnm while getting marine range and then break him when it's done... I don't think less than 7 sunkens can stop that.

Asking this because I want to mess around with sunkenbusts and annoy people. ^_^

Argh I just wrote this long post and it got deleted due to me accidently clicking on the left side of the mouse which took me back one page T_T.

Anyway:

I can't say if thats a god build or not until ive tried it etc, but i will do that when i get my computer back.

Usually, when making an early break or a timingattack of that kind you want to abuse the opponents timings.
With this build, attacking at 5.55 is not really abusing his timings unless he goes for a 2hatch mutabuild.

I think I would rather wait for stim/range and 1attack and attack at 7minutes instead. There is a build on how to do that with I think 3rax, that nada did alot in the past and was quite successful.
However nowadays its much harder to play 1base terran mech than it was in the past but its still fun sometimes vs lesser players. If you're going to do it vs a better player you will need to fool him into trhinking your doing something else or that your taking an expansion or whatever.

If you still want to attack at 5.55 you should follow up with making alot of bats with rallypoint. At 5.55 his only resort after being sunkenbusted is making masslings from 3 hatch and using drones. If you keep a constant stream of bats to his base you will nullify this. The same way flash did vs jaedong on troy if you remember.

Anyway I will try this build and give better input afterwords. However my computer isn't back yet and hopefully I'll get it today but its likely that I won't get it until monday. I will look it up and also find out the build nada used before next weekend anyway.

The idea behind it was to get the +1 right before even a 2-hatch muta... I think 2-hatch has no way to afford the 5 sunkens necessary. As for a 3-hatch muta, my plan indeed is to move out later, probably after range is done, and attack then. I haven't tested the timings with this, though, and my execution isn't exactly perfect... Just trying to find a nice sunkenbust build and this it the best one I've found so far.

Ok, it seems like a nice start if details are perfected. I dont actually know the exact suply of terran when zerg adds fast gas for a 2hatchbuild. But it would be great if you could actually build the refinary after you scout that he's taking fast gas or not to adapt a break vs 3hatch or 2hatch without getting too much gas if he did a 3hatchbuild.

I think if you place gas on 13 or later you have time to adapt if you see him making a slow gas, since most zergs doing 2hatch ads gas and pool at the same time or gas even before pool.

Gas on 13 would mean that the timing of your upgrades would come slightly after 6:00 but the zergs units mutalisks wont be gathered yet so he needs to sunken up anyway.

If you dont scout him on the first try though you will sometimes get too much gas if you see him doing a late gas, but can just switch to the fantasystrat or some mech strat.

One more thing, you need to add a second SCV on gas for a while after you start the first round of medics. And when you first move out with 3 medics you can add a 4th barracks. But yeah, I have to figure out some stuff for 3-hatch mutalisks, but it should work for that as well, if modified slightly. Maybe an even earlier 4th barracks... gotta play with this.

I was wondering why you don't have builds for 2 factory openings without fast expansions. I played alot back in 2004 and TvP was based solely around 2 factory openings or 1 fac 1 port. Is this not as viable anymore in favor of other openings or because Protoss has soft/hard counters against it?

Hihihihi, I've nearly perfected all your strategies(except A-yu-Min), practice each and one of them from 5 to 10 times a week,but i still LOSE, I admit my win ratio has is a lot better, and I feel i've improved quite a bit.
For some reason, I can't stay up in C-, i really don't know what this could be, as far as i am concerned I have decent Mechanics, 220+ apm, Macro is fairly good, I keep my minerals at 500-700, obviously sometimes they go to 1k, but nothing that can't be fixed, and still I end up losing on my Mid-Late games.
F.E. I do 5 fact Timing push, I achieve to hurt his economy, and kill enough goons to take my 3rd expansion safely, but for some reason I end up losing the next battle, leaving me on a very weak position, and making my 3rd really vulnerable, after this, Protoss destroys my 3rd and I end up losing the game.
Do you have any Ideas what my problem could be?, In my opinion, it could be my Micro or my Placement. Maybe you could share how'd you breached the C-,C,C+ barriers.

PS: My Writing sucks, so if you don't understand anything please ask. :D

Hi. I belive I can partly answer that. Sry if u guys dont mind I would share my point of view. I used to play a 2 fact opening as in the old days. It was easier then to win on a solid based rush. You could beat toss even if he didn't fe. But now it's diffrent. They're got better micro and build orders of the game. But nowadays it's even tough to beat a feing toss. Seems almost harder to beat when they 14 nexus.

So if u don't manage to do some real dmg to ur opponet ur pretty much behind most of the time. Not to mention all the space there is to micro on.

This whole game has turnd out as a "macro-based-rush-for -the-next expo"-game. Also the nowadays maps favours fe more than any rush. Fe is so safe, no matter what toss do ur not behind, unless he' bulldog you, ur atleast even wih him. They rather counter your expo with double expoing than attacking ur fe. It's a good choice, since it's rather hard to time a good push against it.
Having Fe:d you'r way better off in terms of mid and late game. Even if u fails a push u still got a chance to get back into the game and isn't as far behind as a failing 2 fac would be. Some maps are so big and wide open it rly requiers u to have a large army to set up an containing.

2 fac opening is nothing but an all- in anymore. An outdatet strategy. Not saying it's not doable.
But Fe> owns 2 fac in most factors.

Do you think you could possibly do something about TvT, or even write something about it? There is just about no documentary about TvT whatsoever, and I only barely know some build orders up to like 30 supply, but after that I'm completely lost. I can't find anything about academy/armory/engineering bay timings, when to expand, amount of machine shops, factories and so on, so it really is quite difficult to pick it up when all you have is DaZe's outdated and quite incomplete guide.

Even if you're only B- I'm sure that's way more than enough for something general about it, just to get somewhat started. Thank you for your time..
