When I play TvZ on iCCup, 9/10 times the zerg goes 9 pool into fast gas and does some kind of 3 hatch all-in speed ling build. I usually try to start by FEing (9 minute push strat) to work on my mid/late game but I end up getting overwhelmed by a group of lings before I can get my CC up. I tried going 2 barrack into fast academy and when i tried to move out with 10 marines 2 firebat and 2 medics, they would just run around the whole map with like 20 lings and when I attack the sunken line they would just get me from behind. Do you have any advice on how to play vs these all-in speed ling zergs? (This is the only build i see on iCCup atm level D -_-) Thanks Stylish | ||

When facing 9pool speed into fast lair or expansion you have to switch build. One good way to "counter" it is to place a refinary and an academy upon the first barrack is finnished. From here make marines, add a second barrack and a suplydepot. Block ramp with 3 scvs and 2/3 marines until you get your firebats out, if you do it properly you will get 3 marines from your first factory and then a medic and when the academy finnishes you will be able to make 1 bat from each barrack. Use 3marines 2bats 1medic and move out. This will sometimes kill the zerg completely, specially if you see that he's trying to take an expansion and sometimes you can bring all your scvs aswell like in the roflstrategy. Make sure to make another 2 firebats after the initial first if the zerg decides to make a backstab and also if you break his sunkens and have firebats reinforcing his lings wont be able to kill you. 1 Fac Seige expand. Get about 3-4 into quick dropship/upgrades. Using 4 vul for the first drop and then tanks and such as the next drop. While doing build just getting those quick upgrades and build up tank count while taking a 3rd. I dono if the quick dropship is worth it or not, I belive its not a bad idea since most toss take a quick 3rd to counter a fe terran, so there def is not the greatest at that time. | ||

I'm assuming when you say "get about 3-4", you mean factories? Anyway, what you're describing is basically a strategy where you get fast upgrades and taking a fast third while you're harassing the opponent, with dropships and vultures, while you're massing u and waiting for a upgrade timing and a push. This is basically the flashstrategy. I've made a VOD of it. In this "flash bo" you will actually get the dropship on 2 factories(starting to build 2 more). So the answer is: Yes, its good to use the starport to your advantage, since you need it anyway for upgrades you might aswell use it for dropship harass. Note that its most effective if you harass on the ground with vultures and drop at the same time. You can also move vultures on the ground and tanks in the dropships to make a tank + minefield somewhere on the map with great mobility. ZzZzang: Yeah that game was epic. To naugrims defense, its a few months old. But the strategy is actually very doable vs any 3hatch muta opening, specially if you can deny him scouting the none-existing expansion!:D | ||

Yes, early starport can be good aswell. The reason why flashes build is so good is that he times the starport with the upgrades for maximal efficiency. If you want to get a starport earlier and harassing him it will be abit harder to take your third fast, but if you can still be safe its doable. However, usually its better to either get the starport really early on 1 base and go for like a dropship strat, or to get the port at about 65-75 suply. But sometimes you can screw the timings and change things. What you will accomplish with faster harass is a defending protoss rather than an attacking protoss, so you can get your third up safe. In the flashbuild, the first preassure is made by the 4 vultures on the ground, this will also give you mapcontrol. You could do this with a dropship aswell, but it will be slightly slower and abit more risky. | ||

Zerg_Sasuke: 2Hatch lurk (not muta) is the best way to counter it, but if you 2hatch the terran won't usually a-yu-mi since its a build vs 3hatch zerg. If you're already on 3 hatch the best way is probably to get 5 sunkens before making the mutalisks. Your mutalisks will be delayed but you will be safe and can harass him when he's out with his units. Terran has cut quite a few scvs to get to the perfect timing and from here its pretty much even. You can't really hard counter it if you've already placed a spire on 3hatch. SiegeTankHero: I'll look into it, there is a buildvod. I might need to reupload it. AttackZerg: Would be glad to but atm I cannot play at all. I'll hopefully get the new computer soon and then I can play. However I've been away from starcraft for over a month now, I might be the one in need of practice^^ | ||
