I am so tired of people being able to have half of themselves hidden, and THEN START CAMPING. What the hell. Also I think it fucks with the hitboxes of their visible body, since I was playing as recon not too long ago and I was repeatedly hitting this guy in the head, and not even a hitmarker was to be seen. Come on.
They're not actually hidden - the other half of the body is outside the wall/whatever. You can shoot and do full damage to that. It's actually hilarious. It happens with crouching too but there aren't very many places where you can abuse that (since brick walls are thicker than what's sticking out, I guess), most notably on davamand peak tdm in the little hut outside the encampment, next to a small hill.
Haha, yeah, I like that, but many times they are proning into solid areas where there is no "other side," and it isn't actually possible to hit them =/. That is what bothers me. And I mean clipping through the containers of Norshahr Canals is pretty frustrating.
And @Rixxe, yeah I don't understand these kind of massive really common bugs that have an incredibly large effect on gameplay making it into the game. Maybe they had faith that the community wouldn't abuse them or something? ROFL
And yeah, I wish there was inter-round chat. If you didn't like it you could just hide it, and otherwise you can maybe plan with your team, or just banter as you said. It would be nice to give/get congratulations for playing well. It gets boring in between rounds =/ *attention span*
There are those things and 9002 other imminent and gamebreaking things that need fixing as well, some of which cannot really be fixed.
The chat thing very much so pisses me off to no end as well for something that's hardly even a game mechanic. It's just retarded design of a thing so simply it's pretty much impossible to fuck up. Yet they managed to screw it up so bad that even though they had to fix the chat overlay once, it's still terrible.
The entire process that goes into their QA or even the concepts of what works and what has worked in their previous games compared to now is just completely unfathomable. When you have several good concepts and mechanics that work well in your previous titles, you fucking take those with you without changing anything if nothing needs changing. Somehow they failed to do that with an enomous amount of things and they all ended up worse.
God knows, it's a new engine but that changes how effects and mechanics are coded into the game, not the parameters on which these are judged to be good and well functioning. Fk, I can get mad talking about this crap ^_^
On an unrelated note. I take it people noticed the hilarity that is their poll on battlelog?

Problem is, they are avoiding going only off of the existing battlefield audience from previous games for feedback on "what works and doesn't work". Since the BF series in the past is a bit more of a niche market than, say, the CoD series, I think DICE may have some trouble soliciting feedback from a niche audience, especially if they expect to pull dollars from the mainstream gaming crowd and a slice of the "Modern FPS" pie. What I'm saying is that they've done the BF series mostly the same the whole way through, but it hardly beats any records sales-wise, so they're adjusting their approach and starting from scratch. A new engine is the perfect opportunity for them to do that. Sure, a lot of the same standard BF elements are there, but don't let the 3 on the end of the name fool you; BF3 is meant to be different than previous titles. If the mainstream market wanted BF2 but with shiny new graphics, then DICE would have just migrated BF2 to a new engine. But the mainstream doesn't want that... only the existing BF fanbase wants that.
Also, bear in mind, we've got three DLCs coming this year, so plenty of windows open for changes to still come through.

It's a great game, despite its MANY flaws. What rank are you? What class do you play?

I'm glad, and saddened, that somebody else is as pissed at the chat system as I am. I never really played any previous games, so I can't compare through very much experience, but I've seen the other games. So much... cleaner, if you know what I mean. And yeah, it is so easy to get riled up on this bullshit.
Anyway, I have not seen the poll, what is it about?

It's not even that I'm talking about, because there you're completely correct. It's obviously meant to challenge the terribleness that is mainstream FPS games.
What I mean is that there were perfectly well developed mechanics for completely basic things such as grenade throwing, TV missiles, rocket launchers(in particular BF2 rockets/AT4 from bc2), vaulting vs. jumping? And many, many more glaringly obvious examples of where they did something right. Why the fuck were they not just directly transferred to the new game?
For that there's no excuse, the target audience has nothing to do with it. It's a simple matter of well designed game mechanics being scrapped in favor of insanely shit ones instead for no logical reason. Inexcusable.
Anyone else having this problem? It just started for me today. I try to enter a match, and it starts to load fine, but when it's time for me to get into the loadout screen, the "game" just turns invisible. In other words, while I'm still "in game," I will be seeing my firefox browser.
Why do 99% of recons camp a mile away from the objective on offense? It doesn't make sense...they don't even get more kills than the people who just charge in.
Hey guys just released my first montage and looking to create a 2nd in the near future seeing as this was my first attempt at any kind of video editing the next one should be way better but don't expect DDR Effects in the next one – not a fan of those
Took me a few weeks to capture and edit but here it is;

What fucking servers are you playing on where people cluster up like that, wtf
Anyway, pretty cool montage, a lot of very good clips in there. I think at the beginning you could have improved by getting rid of the 'linger shots'-- where you continued on a clip for a few seconds even though the action was over. Kind of threw me off, made me expect more but then it never came. But still quite awesome, you really like your C4 jeeps.
That being said, it's not particularly cool to create an account on TL just to show off your montage.
My AS VAL review (slogan: just spray, no need to pray XD):
Holy shit guys, ive been using the AS VAL this weekend. It was the first time since the patch that i used this gun extensively and its just amazing. Borderline OP for a all kit weapon IMHO. I first fooled around with it while i did some recoil tests in empty servers and realized that the VAL on singleshot is literally a laser. + Show Spoiler +
This is a picture of the impact area when i shot at a wall from about 80m away, i just tapped the mousebutton as fast as i could. No recoil correction or anything. I already saw in my AN94 tests that you can exchange spread increase for more recoil by burstfiring very fast instead of just holding down the trigger it works well with guns like the AN or AK because they have such a low initial recoil. With the AS VAL its even better, since it is the only gun that has a negative first shot recoil multiplier you can reduce recoil and spread by using this firing method. IMO that just crys for abuse :D. The problem is that the AS VAL has no burstfire mode and if you use it on singleshot you will lose a lot of RPM if your fingers arent fast enough to klick 15 times a second. But there is a slolution: Just tap the trigger as fast as you can in fullauto mode instead of just holding it down. The accuracy wont be as good as in semiauto mode but still much better than normal fullauto and you dont loose much RPM if any. After fooling arount with it for a while i realised that the accuracy was the best if you always burst two rounds. This is important, if a 3 round burst slips by every now and then, the accuracy will be remarkably worse because then you will start to feel some recoil and spread will start to build up. When bursting 2 rounds you will have no recoil and no significant spread increase until your magazine is empty. In CQC i usually just hold down the trigger normaly because it doesent really matter there. But if im moving while shooting, i will always prefer to tapfire because it helps with the really bad moving accuracy the AS VAL has. It takes a little practise to find the rythm but once you perfect this the AS VAL becomes a silenced lasercanon with almost 900RPM. Seriously up to atleast 75m i can drop a enemy with the VAL faster and almost as efficient as with the AN94. The reason for that is that is you can do extremely fast (intant) followup bursts since the recoil decreases so fast because there is not much recoil there to begin with. Overall i still prefer the AN94 just because the low muzzle velocity and therefore high bulletdrop of the VAL really make it a pain in the ass to hit moving targets at longrange. Also the bad moving accuracy will force you to stop before shooting too often for my taste, even when its minimized by tapfiring. Anyway, give this gun a try if you havent already. Have fun owning noobs and feel ashamed afterwards because it is so EZ it could be cheating (people will accuse you doing that anyway).

I actually tried that, i also tried to bind an alternate fire key on the keyboard (LMB+F) so i could tap them alternatively to be faster. But both didnt work out because the gun would start to jam with both methods. I couldnt even shoot as fast as i can with LMB only.
