Probably next game we should change the going-inactive thing to depend on a number of days rather than a number of moves. I based it on moves mostly because that was easier to keep track of, since I was already tracking votes, but with so many votes being unanimous, it turns into something of a vicious cycle, where each vote takes fewer moves to close and only the hyperactive stay active.
If anyone wants to officially go active again, just say so, though, and/or send in conditional votes if you're not sure you'll be around for the official voting period.

Interesting board qrs. My solution in spoiler (I assumed its blacks turn). + Show Spoiler +The problem is that I can only find solutions for mate in 3. So I guess I have missed something. 1... Qxf3 2. Qd1 Qxh1+ 3. Ng1 Qxg1++ 1... Qxf3 2. Ng1 Qf2+ 3. Kd1 Ne3++ All other moves for white is mate in 2 moves for black. Will be looking forward to the answer.

In the game itself, White resigned after the next move.)

Those are more or less the lines I'd found as well, but then I noticed + Show Spoiler [another move for White] +. That's the most challenging line. I played around with the pieces a little and thought it was probably still mate, but I hadn't nailed it down and it was definitely taking me a lot longer than 4 moves. However, the computer found a clever way to handle it.

Yeah, I was about to post that best play for white uses that move, however I only end up with mate in 5 moves. + Show Spoiler +1. ... Qxf3 2. e4 Ne3 threatens mate on c2 and g2 3. Nf2 Nxc2+ 4. Kf1 Bh3+ 5. Kg1 Qg2++

Your move keeps the noose tight and is best. You also found White's only defense. However, on the third move, Black has an improvement.

Doh! That queen looked too tasty with the double mate threat and I overlooked the shift. + Show Spoiler +after 3. ... Rf8 white has no answer to 4. ... Qxf2++ Any attempt to defend f2 just falls to continued mate threat on c2 or g2.

Discussion from your team can be found within the appropriate QuickTopic thread that was PM'ed to you by qrs. And I would not be so quick to dismiss 18...d4...

I'm a novice player following along for fun, and voting with the majority on black to help speed the game along. I hope I'm not giving away too much information, but - d4 was initially suggested so I voted thinking that was the obvious move. Since then many players have suggested alternatives, so I'd hoping to withdraw my initial vote until the experts on my team settle on their decision.

Two days into the vote, and only three votes cast. This is a turn of events!
Current state of the vote looks like this:![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/7P1QS.png) If the vote closed now, 18...d4 would win, as the most recent of the tied moves to hold an outright lead.
As usual, with the weekend coming around, I may not check TL as often as usual, so there may be a delay before I update the OP. In any case, as ever, vote closes at the time listed in the OP, unless a single move garners half of the active voters before that time or unless, when the deadline is reached, a majority of this turn's voters choose to take a 1-day extension.

I think we might want to use some extra time on this move...

Well, I'm going to vote for an extension of another day then.
But just in case that doesn't go through, I'm also going to vote a move, which I may change if we do vote for more time.
18. ... Qe7

Actually, I'm going to change my vote now. Still for an extension though.
