GM, as annoying as sand is being right now, I think ET seems the scummiest right now, so I would kill him, but it is really difficult to have an accurate read yet. | ||

1.) We randomly assign someone as Captain. Better chances of a Townie getting picked this way. 2.) All serious candidates get put on a list. If you are notoriously bad as a player and are known for fucking up the Town DO NOT EVEN APPLY. Lazy scumhunters and spammers especially. Screw the confirming people by PM stuff @ sandroba. We don't know your alignment and what you're doing comes off as role fishing. Whatever happened in past games is not relevant for this one. That goes for all you. Let's hurry up and get this captain vote done today. Don't spam up the thread either because I'll be damned if you idiots crash us into Planet Mafia on Day 1. | ||

First game playing in a long time :-) My thoughts: --Where I used to play (flashflashrevolution) PM and instant messaging was an integral part of the game. It quickly became policy there to have EVERYONE post ALL of their private conversations, with the exception of anything that would reveal town-damaging information. I propose we do the same here. If you talk to anyone, and nothing you talk about could endanger the town (ie, role claims, item claims, etc) then you should post every conversation you have. With high enough participation rate, this forces the scum to have to fake conversations with each other, which can lead to things sounding awkward and forced. Public sharing of these one-on-one conversations often becomes useful later in the game as well, as patterns emerge about who is talking to whom and who is NOT talking to whom. --This probably goes without saying, but one of the most useful things to do is to ask people who they are talking to, and who they have talked to. Then ask for copies of those conversations, if they don't contain sensitive information. Every now and then you get a scumslip this way when one scum says they are chatting with the other but the other claims to have never spoken to the one. Not very often but sometimes useful. --I have not been PMed yet by anyone. I don't know how sandroba is going around collecting info but I suppose it's not been player-wide. I suggest that he make it player-wide so that scum can't figure out who he's talked to, and therefore who he's gotten to claim already. --Captain policy: I suggest that whoever gets captain be sure to give enough warning to whomever is going to be lynched. If the player is town (as Ace pointed out, town is often lynched day one) that player should be given the opportunity to offload any items he has and/or roleclaim via pm or something in order to save himself if he thinks that's wise/necessary. --sandroba's actions are town to me. As acrofales (I think?) said, occam's razor would suggest that. He's sticking his neck out very far on day one, even going so far as to think up the anonymous roleclaim plan AND ask the host about it. I don't know his meta, but that kind of play seems unlikely to me to even occur to scum, plus it would be even dicier to try to pull it off (also have to consider how his scumteam would feel about him putting himself out there). If for some reason he's been doing this as scum, then I guess his plan is to play for a high-risk high-reward strat and have his scumteam bus him if it backfires. But again, less likely than town. --my skype is jason.e.pipkin . Feel free to chat. --question for the thread: how many scum do you think will end up running for captain? It depends of course on how many total people end up running, but I imagine any good scum team would only put out one, maybe two members, if any. How soon does everyone think a scum puts his hat in the running? Right off the bat? Do they wait awhile and see if the town is coalescing around someone first? I dunno what I would do as scum (would depend on meta I guess) but maybe the two strongest strategies are 1) putting up a scum candidate early or 2) not putting up a candidate at all (consider what GMarshal said - that if he had to pick a scum candidate day one he would probably pick one of the captain candidates). Thoughts? | ||

Isn't choosing sandroba: a) Just as good because he's been randomly assigned to either scum or town and b) Better because we know that he is good as town and bad as scum and so far is about as active as we could expect a town sandroba to be? | ||

I like the idea of posting PMs to be able to track who is talking to who. Currently the only person who has PM'ed me is Acrofales- and it was to inquire as to why I thought Sandroba was suspicious. I responded that I didn't like his role fishing. As for candidates, lets try to get a list together and get some commitement out of people! | ||

Im not good at reading jackal at all. His meta = as town hes useless to town during the early game and plays more actively at end game... when hes scum hes more active early game and lurks end game. however he can usually tell if im scum or town with minimal effort. after 28 years he has become immune to my bullshit. | ||

Be warned that nothing in it is synthesized. + Show Spoiler + Day one observations: Zentor is not scum with wherebugsgo - WBG goes out of his way to point out in Zentor's post a non-scumslip (Page 8) possible weak tie as coag remarks on it as well - so maybe coag is not with either, but coag's post is joke-y marvellosity also makes a weak joke here - does he do that if zentor is scum with him? Captain nominations - EchelonTee as a joke to lynch Ace Sandroba intially with "I'll kill whoever I feel like and you guys can thank me later" GMarshal because he actually hits scum day one Zentor with the promise of killing whomever the thread votes for RayzorFlash with a cute speech Acrofales with the weird janitor reference and pictures. Seems genuine - either well-faked or the two aren't scumbuddies Kurumi is doing a lot of pressing questions - calls sandro scum and ace town. Risknuke questions this stuff, risk and kurumi maybe not together. Coagulation keeps making joke posts. impossible to read. Kurumi claims sandro approached him but he did not claim to sandro. Everyone talks about Ace like he's the tasselfoot of this group. Strongest player guaranteed to get killed. Strongandbig makes posts that I think are scummy but he's probably town because my gut is always wrong on this shit. Marvellosity was not contacted by Sandro, asks to be. GMarshal has overcome his tentativeness about playing with PMs and chat. Also renews his campaign for captain (page 14) Acro calls out layabout for not posting much, and asks him about froggy. Do these connections mean anything? Or is he just behaving randomly? Zentor reiterates his transparency campaign. He's tried three-ish times now for mayor. I don't think he does that as scum Acro asks marvellosity in a joke to claim to him. Not sure he would do that if they were scumbuddies. MrZentor is not scumbuddies with GMarshal based on GM's pressure on him and that they're both running. Acro thinks sandro and GM are town. Marvellosity quotes maverick's post and says that it doesn't make sense. weak disconnection between them there.  Theres been a lot of good discussion going on with regards to transparency or secrecy for the captain... I think that whoever gets elected captain will be the one who has to make that call, really. I agree with what people have said that the captain needs to be able to make an executive decision if he thinks that none of the candidates that town votes for are scum, and there is another target whom he thinks is likely to be scum. While I agree that the captain should call his lynch in order to give people a chance to defend/wrap up their matters, I can also see scum exploiting that with fakeclaims etc... As I said before, I wouldn't mind being captain if you all think I'm trustworthy enough, but I have a history of making bad reads (pushed for a ton of bad mislynches in my first game, had the completely wrong reads in Arkham City too) and in retrospect it would probably be better if I were not captain. The person I'll vote for captain needs to be someone who generally has good reads, is someone I have a reasonably good town read on, and is also willing to listen to peoples opinions and think/post rationally with little spam and clear sensible points. So far all the people who are running have satisfied only one or two of these criteria... Except, that is, for GMarshal... GMarshal, in order to gain my vote you have to answer the following questions: - Who would you vote for if you had the same criteria as me? - Why would you lynch VayeshMoru instead of any of the 10 other people who haven't really contributed anything yet?? | ||
