Hey peeps! My name is Julia and I enjoy long walks on the beach, candle-light dinners, but above all, I am addicted to Starcraft 2.
I'm currently a high diamond-level Protoss player. I am 23 years old, play on the NA server, and am from Vancouver, BC (Canada). I am currently on the team CheckSix, and my epic sponsors include Duxter.com, TteSPORTS, PureTrak, and GamersUniform!
On my stream you're gonna find some good times. Occasionally I even play SC2! (kidding...) I solo and teams ladder, play customs, and I play with viewers too (sometimes monobattles, sometimes when I'm looking for a certain match-up to practice I'll look for people around my level from the stream!)
Most of all, my stream is fun! I play with a decent amount of high masters and GM players so you'll likely recognize my team mates. We get on skype and bm each other and I'm very interactive with my stream chat! ♥ you guys.
I stream often. Sometimes daily. I generally start around 8 or 9pm PST. I stream earlier in the day when I can, and I usually stream well into the night. I also go to college, the gym, and I have two part-time jobs so it's tough for me to narrow down an exact schedule (considering shifts and homework/exams, etc.) I normally update my facebook and twitter to keep the world updated about my streaming times though (just doin' my part for the greater good) ♥
Achievements GottaCon 2012 (Victoria, BC) placed in RO8 UBC Starcraft Cup placed in RO8 (code A)
P.S. To avoid your mind being blown later on, yes "Ailuj" is my name backwards. You're welcome.
P.P.S. Shout out to the awesomely generous people who've donated to my stream: + Show Spoiler +

I've checked out your stream quite afew times, but i didn't stay long cos none of those times were you ever doing what i.hoped to see - ladder games!! It'll be interesting to see how a female player fairs there. So yea, hope you'll include.more of that! Still great stream though don't get.me wrong
ps sorry for the random fullstops in between, typing on my s2 can be a bitch
julia is a pretty cool chick. once upon a time she raped me at tron cycles before i knew her and i hated her with a passion and will never play it with her again. but she also has an interest in my best online friend and i have severe objections because of my intense attraction to both her and him. i am conflicted and am not sure how i feel about this.
No offense but, it seems to me like you are trying to get attention, simply on the fact that you are a girl. Too many hearts, too many cute little shit, too much "HEY LOOK AT ME" - no wonder many people have a hard time coping with gamergirls. I mean, a guy could have the exact same skills, and the exact same entertainment value on his stream, but he would not get nowhere near the same views you do. Why is this? How is it fair?
Life isn't fair?? How am I supposed to answer that. Sorry for being female and loving the game. You're right I only do it to get attention (/sarcasm). And the hearts are just my thing, I've always used them. Sorry if they offend you... Would it bother you if a male used them? Would it matter? And "HEY LOOK AT ME" just happens to be my favourite saying so.................... You can't control me SON
How is saying that you can't "cope" with gamergirls fair, either? Lol..... I'm so sorry you have to deal with us ♥♥♥♥!!

I am not trying to control you.. DAUGHTER. I just thing it is annoying that, with no reasoning behind, you get views from being cutesy and girly. This is annoying because some (guy) who works as hard as you, getting a proper stream, would get a tenth of the views, simply because he is not a girl.
I am not blaming you, I would probably have done the same thing. My problem is that all these guys who watch you are getting so blinded by all of your girlyness and cute little hearts, that they suddenly stop thinking.
I am not the one who cannot cope with gamergirls, but I know that the discussion, about the attention girls are given within the gaming community, comes up now and then and many people are dissatified with the way girls are treated.

I won't deny girls get more viewers than guys on SC2, and ya it is kind of unfair. I guess it comes down to... If you had the choice between a diamond player with no camera who ignores their chat, and another diamond player with a camera who is very interactive with their chat, and is different (in my case being female), who would you watch? And I know that a lot of the guys who chill at my channel watch other streams as well as mine at the same time. Some streams you watch to learn, some you watch for fun, maybe some you'll get both. If people choose to watch my stream, or any stream, why should affect other people? Is it "dissatisfying" that people will watch HuK over MC (or vise versa)? I offer an alternative.

And leave my hearts out of it
If the stream was equal as i said, i would watch the one that would fulfill most of my requirements ,which would be different from time to time. It would not be based on the gender of the streamer. Again this is nothing personal, I just observed this since noone really answers on 99% of the threads in "user stream" but there were something special about this one. All you offer that most of the other streams do not is femality. Which I doubt is a word.

So when Destiny (who I respect and enjoy as a person) wasn't as good of a player as he is now was streaming and getting tons of hits because of his personality it was ok, but when a genuinely enjoyable girl streams it's borderline offensive? I don't think she has no delusions about her skill or why people watch her, but she entertains the stream and has fun with it. No need to hate, bro.

Here is a video of a blind guy vs Slayers Boxer. The original video was taken off youtube, but you get the idea. Pretty entertaining right?
If you actually thought about what I wrote, you'd realize my argument is not that she deserves credit because she's a girl. She deserves credit because she is entertaining, which I mentioned in three of my four sentences... Anyways... haters gonna hate. Whatever.
I think I should teach my gf how to play bronze level SCII, make a stream on TL and profit. It's actually a brilliant business model, props to you for that, Julia.
I came across one of your vods by accident and surprised to see a girl gaming starcraft 2. Honestly Starcraft 2 is so demanding that even geeks fear Starcraft 2 so i sat down and prepared to see many errors playing, but you play on Master level . Your understanding of the game, your builds, micro and macro is excellent. Its way beyond my level thats for sure.
Did someone teach you ? Or you just practiced alot ? Anyways good luck with your stream , i am MOST impressed. Shared your stream with some of my friends as well.

OK, here is the deal. I don't know Julia too well so I don't know if she's trying to get attention or sth but from what I see on stream she's not trying to do it in any obvious way so... ye
Hearts and "cute little shit" are commonly used by a lot of people in community and not exclusively by girls who want attention. Like HuK, day9, there is lot of that "cute little shit" on tournaments. I don't get this hey look at me thing. Webcam maybe? Many streamers are using that these days. Behaviour? If you are trying to say that she is behaving like - "HEY LOOK AT ME" person then I doubt you've ever seen\known someone like that.
And ofc a girl is getting more attention in gamers community than a guy. It was, is and probably will be this way since most of this community are guys. + she's pretty so more attention...
When I turned her stream on I didn't even know she was a girl. Then I thought: Hey, she's cute, let's see how she plays. And you know what? She's quite good (I think better than me :D) an the stream was entertaining, so that's why I keep watching it. I hope () it was thought process of most wievership...
Also there is no reason to hate on girls getting attention in this community. Actually I think they need even more attention, so their girly friends and girls unfamiliar with sc2 will see that it's also for them, that it's fun and maybe thanks to this in couple of years we won't be in a situation where the only girls at tournaments and events are hostesses :D
So stop hating on them, stop trolling them because seeing chat on Julia's stream makes me sad. Unless you actually like the situation from above :S
EDIT: Just to clarify: I'm a guy and I'm not trying to get any attention here, despite using few smiles in this post. In case if someone was confused :DDD
Would you really watch a blind guy play starcraft? It might be funny for a minute purely because he would suck so bad.
Would you really watch girl playing sc2 just because she's a girl? I won't. There are other streaming girls and I don't watch them.
Destiny has the skill and the entertainment value.
He wasn't good at start of his streaming. I'm sure cute carpets helped him to get attention...

Not everyone watches a starcraft (or any type) stream purely for educational value. If that were the case (and the mentally vapid like yourself didn't exist) then the majority of the largely popular streamers would not be as such. However the beautiful thing about being human is we are all different, have different interests, talents, entertainment values, intellectual capacities, etc. Get a fucking clue, there is a reason behind her viewers. It's quite obvious in fact but I'll even give you a hint; it has to do with more than her looks and web cam. Sure, that's the initial attraction for a lot of people, but I guarantee it's not what keeps people coming back from day to day.
Moreover, why the fuck are you complaining? Seriously? Criticize the hot chick for playing and streaming sc2 because she's hot and "is seeking attention?" Yeah dude, life would really suck if more attractive, social, down to earth nerd chicks played starcraft 2. Fuck that would be so lame if we could all hold conversations over the topic of our nerdy addiction with women we're actually attracted to. Yeah, would be so rough.
Lastly... "I am not the one who cannot cope with gamergirls" yet... you've posted how many replies trying to defend yourself and your accusations? Hmm.....
Anyway, Julia is awesome. The stream is a lot of fun, you viewers are awesome and provide for quite an entertaining time with all of the questions (even the trolls). Julia is a true nerd, and if you can get past the initial shock of her appearance you will see it quite easily. Although... obviously for some that is harder than others. She's also pretty good at the game too.
TBH, I understand where maggy0 is coming from. I've run into far too many "gamer girls", the kind that perpetuate the attention-whoring stereotype. The girls who simply state (in words or otherwise) "hey, I HAS BOOBZ", and immediately enthrall the hordes of nerds around, as they try to figure out how to reload in COD or w/e. My first thought upon seeing this thread (which was before any responses had been posted) was of a similar sentiment: "great, just what we need, another one".
That said, despite my predispositions, I knew to hold my tongue. I do not know julia, nor have I seen the stream, and so I do not have the information to actually make that assessment known in anywhere beyond my own mind. IDK, maybe she is totally chill and knows WTF she's doing (let's hope), or maybe she's just another one pushing the stereotype. It's up to the viewer to decide, but don't come all up in this shit being a tard without giving her a chance.
Oh, and some of you tards really need to think before posting.

I am a 15 year old male experiencing many biological changes to my body. I have watched your stream for awhile and would like to notify the people here that it is not just some girl trying to get attention via sketchy methods (wearing little to no clothing, eating oddly shaped food, dropping items on the floor only to be picked up). She is like all of us except she has no Y chromosome. She is also learning the game still and I believe one of the elements that needs the most work is her Macro.
In the end, her stream is a fun place to be for various reasons and people should come and see it for themselves. If it isn't your cup of tea, then just leave. But please leave a statement about how buff you are in the stream chat. Please stop being so negative about her streaming or else I will come at u bro mad.

Stream is entertaining sometimes. The players on skype though are more annoying and don't really help your viewer count. They just seem desperate for female attention... seen plenty of that using ventrilo way back and its quite unbearable.
Sorry you don't love my Skype dudes, they're my friends... I don't think they're really looking for my attention o__o I'll keep that in mind though & try to do more 1v1s, before I get on Skype with anyone <3 thanks!
julia's friends are hilaaarious sometimes =p just watching julia would be freaky. i know some of you guys dont have girlfriends or never been near girls, but i do agree i would love to see some more 1v1 action. it would be nice to see a balance between solo and team games.
Hit you on the ladder one day as "JUSTICE" -Noticed you're playing vs Losira on blue stream at MLG. Lol. Good luck! (:
EDIT: Haha, nice games. You should be proud of yourself for not immediately trying to cheese. That's what I did when I hit pro players at my MLG and I regret it now. But now you have some games you can go back to in the future and look at and remember.
Being able to face Losira on the MLG stage must have been pretty fun.
I'm really curious about your hand movement shown on the stream. A lot of back and forth from the left to the right of the keyboard. Was that all for arrow key usage?

Too many hearts, too many cute little shit, too much "HEY LOOK AT ME" - no wonder many people have a hard time coping with gamergirls. I mean, a guy could have the exact same skills, and the exact same entertainment value on his stream, but he would not get nowhere near the same views you do. Why is this? How is it fair?
On October 26 2011 19:40 maggy0 wrote: I am not trying to control you..
I am not the one who cannot cope with gamergirls, but I know that the discussion, about the attention girls are given within the gaming community, comes up now and then and many people are dissatified with the way girls are treated.
rofl, i've just seen this moron.
how the hell can you say "same entertainment value" if someone takes more viewers? that means it's not the same entertainment value. They can be same on same skill level but not entertainment value. Streaming isn't just related to someone's skill. It takes a lot more factors. In gaming sometimes girls are just more entertaining than guys because you can see noob guys everywhere so they aren't fun at all. On the other hand, I like to see girls trying to get better in starcraft.
If you think that's unfair etc I just don't know what world you're living in :/
gogo julia

Good on you getting to play vs LosirA at MLG! Good sportsmanship shown by you both! ---- I searched to come here to post my short message of support… Didn't want to get lost in the MLG Providence LR thread with the mass of babblings from X/defective-X (ie, Y, missing a leg) chromosome juveniles. :\ There's a few mature posts there, but majory made me upset. :b Enjoy the weekend, congratz.
THANKS EVERYONE!!! I really appreciate all the support. Getting up on stage there might have been the scariest thing in my life lolol :D so happy to have the opportunity though! LOVE <3
Argh, I can't believe I missed Julia on stage at MLG! I'm disappointed in myself as a fan and as a human being - I will seek a small amount of redemption by watching the VODs as soon as they come out. Sounds like you did us proud, Julia, way to represent! :D

You did a great job hiding it, you didn't look scared at all. Good luck in the losers bracket, i wish you best of luck that you make it all the way through. I'm afraid you'll need it, lots of big names out there. But hey, the fiercer the foe, the more fame to gain!
gj repping female sc2 players on screen. most people probably couldn't handle the nerves.
one question though, why were you always switching your left hand from the left side of the keyboard to the ride side of the keyboard? were you using the arrow keys or 8-9-0 hotkeys? just curious.

Was wondering the same thing, seemed the left hand was going for the numpad time and again...I had never seen this, what do you use it for ?

looks like vulture control (with the arrows) very BWish! gl in the loser bracket Mz Ailuj
Very Nice effort Julia! With dedicated practice and a team like xSix you can be really good girl. Also to the people who are bashing her for getting attention (just because she is a female programer), Guys you need to understand that even though SC2 is not a physical game, you have to admit that playing video games is something which attracts more male audience than female...and so for a lady to hookup to gaming and be decently good (and then get better with practice) is really good for the sc2 scene. every girl should be credited and given encouragement to get better.(Atleast she had the balls to compete at MLG, how many of you have done that).
Sign me up for her fan club.I liked the way she played...period...! Julia Fighting!! And there aint no shame losing to Losira!!!

I second this. Good luck against Destiny today! Followed your stream, looking forward to seeing more play
Vancouver gamers FIGHTING!! Watched those matches against Losira, that cannon attempt on his natural SO would have worked if you had placed one just a bit further back out of his vision. O well GG.
I like how your facebook page has you referred as a "fictional character"

she uses the arrow keys to move her camera around.
Hey Julia, I saw your run on MLG. I must say, you look a lot like my ex-girlfriend. You're gorgeous too!
Might I suggest making your hotkeys closer together? ^^ You played well out there, makes me happy to see pretty girls compete with the pimply boys. Nice run, you definitely got some exposure with that game versus destiny :D
EWWW haha. That one made me chuckle

god damn it, You had no business being on the mainstage. If I wanted to watch shit I'd watch my cat in the litter box or incontrol. The only reason you were up there was because you were a girl. They wanted to be like hey look a girl that plays sc2!! in hopes that more girls would watch. Like your stream its just to be a attention whore, destiny is a attention whore, but now he makes money at it. To gain attention is the only reason you would stream, can't think of other reasons. skill was obviously not a reason.

i feel the same way about your post. it has no business being on tl.net, let alone a fan club.

srsly..people hating like this is so tragic. So what if she's a girl? So what if she's getting more viewers than a man in the same position would do? world is not fair and we all take advantage of it's unfairnesses in different ways, don't we?
but that's actually not why I was posting - just wanted to say that I loved seeing you on MLG and I'm also watching your stream alot, a girl taking some place in the gaming world, not caring about these haters and kinda saying "fuck off" to them is really inspiring to other girls gaming seems like alot of girls don't have the guts to show everyone what they've got, it's sad. keep it up, see you on stream!
lol well men often get more money just for being men so I see no problem with women getting some benefits aswell.
Also esport only could benefit from more women picking it up. if just a few girls saw her on the main stage they might get motivated to try for themself or tell friends who will check it out next time etc.
How can it ever be bad? its like the olympics. Most people who compete are just plain bad but its just the spirit of the sports that makes it so epic. Everybody have a chance to be in the spotligth.
Great interview! If MLG decides to go to Vancouver it would have to be people like yourself who advertise and love the Western SC community. Hopefully I can catch your stream sometime!

I will definitely check out her streams. SC2 needs to diversify its player pool, and I'd like to see a girl SC2 pro kicking ass.
OH my god! I couldn't do it without pausing. I actually kinda stopped playing after I'd spent hours crafting sims after people I knew and designing them a huge lavish house (with cheats), and then I would get bored and start over with a new family Haha. Wow. Sims. So long. Anyway, on topic. Well done for getting main stage at MLG, it was nice to see women competing alongside men. Hopefully the next few MLGs will have more women competing and I hope you served to inspire them. That is all.

Just watching a stream and I heard someone say they go to Northern Virginia Community College. Who is that? I'm in the Nova area, it'd be cool to meet up with them if they're interested.
I saw her play in MLG and i must say she just has a few kinks to work out and she is pretty knowledgeable of the game :DDDD u got urself another follower on ur stream <3 <3 <3

That's probably Mike, Julia's friend and manager person dude for CheckSix. He lives in Bearfax, Virginia.
If you need any practice partners hit me up, ORdeR.217. I'm Terran, also mid/high diamond trying to make masters and I definitely need some Protoss partners near my level. Also played in a couple MLG's, and they're awesome!

Well I'm just in town for thanksgiving break, I'm in Sterling, right next to Great Falls. Where are the DC meetups? It'd be sweet to go to those over winter break.
Proposed rules for our Julia Game on Wednesday night, starting about 8pm PST:
1 SHOT .. every time: - she flips her hair - she isn't making workers (rule stops after 70 workers, but nothing before) - she wins a game - she does not play a commercial after a game - a new song comes on - someone recognizes her on the ladder
2 SHOTS .. every time: - she gets supply blocked - she loses a game - she actually remembers to play a commercial after a game - the new song is dubstep - a nexus has full energy. (if she has 2 nexii with full energy, you're taking 4 shots) - it is blatantly obvious that someone is streamcheating against her - she gets proxy hatch'd - she loses a game to proxy hatch
Additional suggestions/additions are definitely welcome. =D
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND: For health and safety issues, if you choose to partake, please try to keep yourself alive. We know it won't be easy knowing Julia. Julia and Mods assume no responsibility for damage to health and safety from partaking in our game.
After watching her play with destiny last night, at this point i don't think it is possible to play this drinking game for more then a hour. After doing some basic math you could be easily 20+ shots deep and dead lolol. Very funnny though <3
If she gets supply blocked, take an additional shot for every pylon she warps in simultaneously (she warps in 3, you down 1 for the supply block, and 2 more for the extra pylons).
This one could get ugly if she gets into a situation where she loses several pylons at once, lol.
(edit: willing to accept revisions, as I suck at making these rules. much better at following them! haha)

this is a good one, perhaps TOO good.. I'm worried for people's safety LOL
take a shot for every progamer (definition may very to some but people like Destiny, iNcontroL, etc.) that joins the chat and for every game played with Julia
@Tear388 thank you so much, I've been working on being baller night and day. So glad you noticed ♥ @IceBurg, of course you can play!! :D @zaihtaM Lol, sorry broski ^^ older women are very sophisticated so I don't blame you
Got your stream on speed dial in my browser - also judging by the rules so far, Ill have alcohol poisoning in no time Also - can someone subscribe to your stream like I can with Destinys stream?
I noticed you listen to a lot of top 40 with a mix of dubstep here and there, have you by chance heard of Klaypex? (YouTube: Klaypex … SoundCloud: (Klaypex)
Mostly Dubstep, but his E.T. Remix is sick (this coming from someone who despises pop music with a burning passion.)
Every time Brendaaan spams Facebook/Twitter/PayPal/Team Liquid...take a shot. Every time Menkt (Adrian) mentions a paper...take a shot. [Mono Battles] Every time Ailuj gets Phoenix/Broodlord...take a shot.
Every time Mike does a voice take a shot. Every time Adrian does his Asian voice take a shot. Two if he does it to Destiny. Every time everyone is dropped from a Monobattles game take a shot.
Really enjoying the lessons with Incontrol, Julia. I'm at about your level (on the verge of Masters, protoss) and felt like I learned a lot in under an hour. I was already following the stream but if you bring more of this stuff in the future, it'll easily be one of my first stops while on TL. Thanks for streaming! <3
aw i feel so special seeing my name on the donators list even though it was only 1$. thanks for the amazing stream Julia! ps. i'd totally donate more but being a poor highschool kid without a job atm, it's hard times for money with me... but hey, at least it's my last year in highschool!
Apparently I played you earlier on Tal Darim ZvP I didn't notice. Someone had to tell me when I played another ladder game after lol o.o I'm just kinda "amazed" at how I got to play with an SC2 personality. Proof -> I made a TL account just to post this >.<
