The resolution acknowledged “the cry for justice of Palestinians, especially those living under oppressive military occupation for fifty years”; vowed to “oppose military occupation and seek a just peace in Israel and Palestine”; and urged “individuals and congregations to avoid the purchase of products associated with acts of violence or policies of military occupation, including items produced in [Israeli] settlements.”

As a result, she was told that no contract could be signed with her.
In response to being denied this job due to her political views, Koontz retained the American Civil Liberties Union, which sued the commissioner of education, asking a federal court to enjoin enforcement of the law on the grounds that denying Koontz a job due to her boycotting of Israel violates her First Amendment rights. Is calling a country run by Jews run by Jews a bannable offense?

Ofc. As everyone knows the Elders of Zion control the world's media in general and Teamliquid in particular, so they can't let comments like that slide.

Two things are at play here to consider:
1. When things go wrong, the common folk generally blame the people in the government. 2. Stereotypes can be harmful to people.
So, to weigh in on this, I don't think mentioning any ethnicity is necessarily something that should be censored in all cases, but using an ethnicity in a negative connotative manner and have it go unopposed can lead some regular users to believe that such discourse is okay. That means they may say things that create a unwelcoming environment. For example, if someone said "Fuck the French, their whole country is one big landfill." and it was just accepted as 'normal' in this community, some French people might wave it off as random internet stupidity, but others would go "Eh, I'm not going to post on this website. It's not worth my time if people can just insult me and my culture openly." It's like that with every kind of identity.
If someone says "Jews are running the government", what are they saying? It's usually not "Great job, Jewish people! Keep running our society in such a respectable manner!" but more along the lines of "Our problems are being caused by people in power, and those people are Jews." If we still lived in the Berenstein Bears universe, it would be quite likely that I'm just being overly-sensitive, but this is the Berenstain Bears universe where the Holocaust happened.
Now, I personally hate to bring up Hitler, Nazis, The Holocaust, because I think people do it way too often for non-related issues, like "Pepe The Frog is a symbol of Nazism" which really devalues the gravity of our unfortunate history. But in his speeches, Adolf Hitler was very specific about his belief that an "international clique of Jews" was pulling the strings and was responsible for the hardships Germany endured through the early 1930s. The reality is that antisemitism was huge before World War 2. Even in the US and Britain, it was socially acceptable to deride the Jewish people in a racist manner.
Today, there is a very large number of extremists on the internet who subscribe to and discuss very hateful anti-Jewish and anti-Muslim sentiments. I'm not going to give them a shout-out, so if you want to know where to find them, send me a PM or something. Just know they're out there, and there are a lot of them. I even know there are prominent members of the StarCraft community who have some of these beliefs, but don't ask me for their names, because we don't need to have a witchhunt. I don't want them to feel threatened, or anyone to feel threatened. I think Teamliquid wants to be a community where, if you love games, you can talk to other people who love games, no matter who you are. There are plenty of other platforms to discuss extreme political stuff.
I could be mistaken, but I just don't see a positive reason to go "Jews are running your government". Even if it's Israel. There's no damn reason to call such extreme attention to race.

To be honest, it's a bit strange where the line is drawn in TL. Someone called for the extermination of muslims and not get banned. Someone wrote that blacks are genetically more predisposed towards crime and not get banned. But heaven forbid if you jokingly say that USA is run by Jews, connected to an article detailing a bizarre law. That's a ban. It's very inconsistent.

I think if anything it is not bizzare enough as evidenced by the total death of this thread.

I'm betting that the situations you're talking about is (1) Mohdoo's realistic thoughts on the outcome of the Palestine/Israel event and (2) pretending xDaunt said something about Blacks that he did not.
Your controversy on TL (USPOL) is between loudmouths that wish something happened, and bend the truth as far as they can to make it look like it happened, and the true reality that it didn't happen. Ninazerg is right about the larger internet where you can find the real extremists on the right that stay unbanned.

I know you feel victimised by the US pol thread, but neither was written in US pol to my recollection. So I have no idea what are these loudmouths you are refering to something that did or didn't happen. I am only refering to a_flayer's post and his warning thereof.
In any case this is probably the wrong place for it I imagine. I'm not even sure if those posters even still post here anymore. Both are/were influential. If anybody wants to know, one was unreportable because he was a staff member and the other was a BW personality (tm) who actually got called out for it by a mod. In both cases it can be assumed a mod was aware.

From NBA drama to TL/nba drama wow! Don't worry JJ, just you do your thing, I love it.

Reason: I seriously cannot believe we are going through this again... Ugh... Fine... Lets' do this.
1. Why are you unnecessarily provoking JimmyJRaynor? It was out of the blue and completely uncalled for.
2. You don't like the way JJR posts and you disagree with the things he say. Okay, that's fine. You're allowed to have your own opinion. What you're not allowed to do however, is laugh at him while saying he is "mentally ill". That's going too far.
3. Every time we ban you, you PM us back with a long ass explanation of why you should be unbanned. Allow me to save you the trouble. Don't bother this time. We unbanned you and gave you second chances because we want users to change their posting habits. You haven't changed your posting habits. You're still trying to bait him him into a fight. So this time, just accept your ban.
4. The next time you needlessly provoke JJR and try to bait him, not only will your temp ban duration be longer, but you will be banned from posting in the NBA thread. I've looked at his past 40 posts, and not once has he said anything directly to you or tried to provoked you within those posts. So leave him alone and for the love of God, just ignore each other already...

Like Seeker said, if it doesn't get reported, there's a chance it might not get seen by moderation.
Keep in mind that I don't speak for Teamliquid or the Teamliquid moderators, though. Do I always agree with what they deem to be bannable offenses? No, I don't. Do I think there are some posts that should get banned but don't? 100% yes. But the question Ej posed was not about that. My reply was in reference to the specific nature of his question, and me giving a thoughtful reply of how I felt about the situation with antisemitism on the internet. Nowhere did I say that any comments disparaging any group of people was appropriate discourse. If someone said "Black people are more likely to commit crimes because it's in their DNA", of course I'd have something to say about that.
I can imagine that the US Politics thread is difficult to moderate because it is always possible to very subtle about presenting a potentially offensive thought or idea. It's difficult to judge the difference between a sincere question and a rhetorical question unless you know the speaker/writer and what their background is. For example, someone might say something along the lines of:
"I've read that many large cities in the United States that have large minority populations tend to have the highest poverty rates, highest crime rates, and rank worst in high school graduations, and I'm wondering why this might be."
A sincere person may be legitimately asking about this. Maybe they read something somewhere and weren't sure about it. Maybe they just want to get other peoples' thoughts on the matter in order to learn.
An ideologue may throw this out as a rhetorical question where they already have their preconceived answer in mind, and are trying to bait people from the opposing side of the political spectrum into having to deal with the statement. There are many reasons to do this, and I won't list them all, but it basically comes down to ego and 'winning arguments on the internet'.
The point is, it is easy to use language to create ambiguity about one's true intentions in order to shield themselves from potential criticism. Then, when called out on something, they can say "Well, you misunderstood what I was saying." This argument tactic is used so often that many times, I find myself having to clarify that I'm being sincere when having political discussions, and am not using some rhetorical device to imply something else.
