What were they even trying to accomplish? In a venue full of BW noobs maybe they’d get an ego boost from people buying their ‘insights’, but here?
I’ve seen plenty of bad players theorycrafting, hell I’ve done plenty myself! But I don’t think I’ve seen such dedication from a seeming non-player while everyone is saying they’re wrong.
FFE is bad and all the Protoss Hall of Famers are idiots, also rushing a Queen to infest the Terran’s second CC is totally viable. Lmao

Not the right place but I couldn’t find the relevant general website feedback thread, maybe that’s on me.
Can we just close the Stormgate thread at this point? It’s basically redundant given the state of the game, and increasingly being used to settle petty vendettas. Plus it might drive a bit more activity into some of the other RTS threads for the posting that isn’t terrible

My first discussion with him he died on the hill that the best meta for ZvT was rushing Queen to rush infest CC. He went on saying the pros didn’t do it because they were stuck in their habits.
Good times. If he was a troll, honestly he was kind of genius. If he was not then… well.

I don't think he was a troll, he had genuine conviction that he had it right because in his mind starcraft is a purely strategic game because all the top pros have perfect execution all the time and the concept of unit control/micro just doesn't exist.

But i mean, even then he would time and time and time again advocate for some weird unlikely strategies, and when confronted with the « there must be a reason no one ever does that » would say that the pros just didn’t have the imagination.
Very weird. I don’t have particular animosity towards the guy but I’m happy he’s gone, he was absolutely destroying the discussions he could enter.

One of my favorites was when he was making the claim that Protoss doesn't need upgrades in PvZ and when I asked him to explain why, he sourced a PvT game.

what if mtcn was actually an self learning ai program used on tl to see how well it could fool us. it learnt starcraft only through theory and flawed data and so gave us those chatgpt like responses; looks like theres something of substance there but really its a load of crap

As an outside observer, I viewed the lenient treatment as just an over-correction in light of a changing environment. As activity drops and the overall community shrinks, being overly ban-happy could be detrimental. Also, these guys haven't been flagrantly breaking rules which are death sentences, like racism and other such crap. They are just simultaneously arrogant and stupid, which isn't worthy of capital punishment but definitely is a persistent irritant and justifies a ban when it's so consistent. I think it's more that moderation was just too patient in the face of months/years of unwavering, abrasive idiocy, rather than a lack of moderator presence.
