P90X probably has you do more reps because you're only working with your body weight. It's just a way to make the work out harder.
3x5 has been determined optimal for lifting as heavy as you can while still maintaining good form and not over working yourself. And if you can lift 3x5x350, then you will lift 3x10x300 much easier, so increasing the total amount of weight you can lift will subsequently increase your endurance.

had another decent workout today. still improving on my main lifts/exercises despite eating less (or at least i'd like to think so) which is kinda weird.
with the bike messed up again i'm just going to do a modified version of tabata instead. maybe this change is what i need seeming as how i feel like i've plateaued as far as fat loss is concerned.

P90x is also more focused on general fitness than pure strength gains

Using Fitday.com is a real eye-opener. God, I hate the truth.

so since i hurt my shoulder and it ended up in a sling, I've still been trying to do cardio. The reason i'm posting is that my doctor said that the amount i was hang cleaning (175) was quite a lot. Is this true? I see people do around that weight quite often.

Not really.
Bodyweight clean/hang clean (if you're around that weight) is probably around near the end of beginner phase level.
Most people shoudl be able to make it up that far within a 6-12 months of solid lifting.

God, I hate the truth. just tried it and wow, you were right. and here i was thinking i had close to no carbs in my diet and then fitday.com tells me over half of my calories are from carbs WTF. even just one cup of white rice makes a huge diff it seems.
man it's so hard not eating rice esp since it's the staple food over here. oh well *sigh*

Nvm, Im making a new thread on this.

As I devour this large pizza and these hot wings, I reminisce on what it was like to have abs.
Fuck it, shit's delicious.

I'm getting the fitness program into gear again. Today was the sprint day on the erg machine and I ended up throwing in some squats, triceps, bicep, and back extension workouts. The center piece was the 8 x 500m row sprints on 3:30 seconds each. Ended up finishing each of the 500m at around 1:45.
So tired today though.
Oh after taking a break from workouts for about 3 months, I'm starting to see definition back in my abs again. Still about 7 lbs of fat above really excellent fitness level. Tomorrow will be my swimming program. Going to aim for 3 - 3.5 miles of intense training over an hour and half.

I haven't been active in this thread and I let myself get kind of out of shape. I stopped working out after my swim season ended (I GOT MVP!) but I started working out again today. I injured my wrist snowboarding so I can't really do push ups anymore.

Yeah super foods is a silly ideal. There is no miracle panacea.
As for workouts, I did my squats, abductors, lunges, and back extension weight training set and then did a 4x2000m erg session on 7:45/1:45
felling a lot better about it all recently. It feels good to be working hard again.

This is a fitness initiative not a mediated weight loss initiative.
