So what happened? Basically, I was owning hard because of my freefarm, but lich was being shut down so hard by bounty hunter that teamfights became a joke since obviously everyone else had picked carries and had no farm compared to me and the opposing lycan/bounty hunter. Even though I could 1v3, we just couldn't win, the others died so frickin fast, I was able to more or less single push down 3 rax... but by that time, their team had killed most of my teammates and went for insta GG by attacking throne before I could go back.
Now my friend was a bit pissed, but we decided to play again. This time, I invited a guy with 100+ wins from a chat and we got in. The difference in quality of the game was insane (because of the 100wins guy pulling up the MMR i assume). I played leshrac, my friend played sandking. My friend went solo top (i had to babysit a PA) and did amazing. We won the game with like 40-15 or something, it was a hardstomp and it was NOT because of the 100+ wins guy, as someone might assume, everyone in our team did great. Funny part? Opponent team had a bounty hunter, who made almost zero impact on the game even though he got several kills early.
Summary: Playing at just a slightly better MMR level than "shittiest shit of shit" makes the game a hundred times more fun and really lets you leverage your abilities. That's a bold summary based off a sample of 2 games.
Sorry, maybe I was unclear. My friend has only played those 2 games, but I've played more. Before the MMR reset, I played in mid skill.

If you are against DS I can understand, but the enemy essentially leaves you alone when you are on safe lane, 30 minutes of essentially free farm should be at leat one big item.
And yeah, I play VS a fair bit, and if your carry sucks, you can steal their farm, go carry VS and actually do pretty well. Her aura + howl + decent items makes for decent damage output.

Edit: FFS WHY ARE PUBS SO GODDAMN RETARDED. You just saw your teammate get killed in the jungle, so you could just assume that enemy heroes are there, but no, better rage at the lack of ss as they rotate to your lane.

I think people must just go exort invoker so it's easier to last hit, cuz sun strike is really not effective in pubs. Makes games so hard when you have heroes like that that just suck in the situations that mostly arise in pubs.

There was no MMR reset, only the skill categorization markers changed. If the old markers used to be 0-2000 Low, 2001-4000 Medium, 4001+ High, then the new ones would be 0-4000 Normal, 4001-5000 High, 5001+ Very High (to use example values). Or if they're done by percentages then instead of like 33.3/33.3/33.3 now they're 80/16/4 or something like that.

I am playing SO fucking bad right now, holy shit. Was mid against TA on invoker. Have free kill if I just chase him down with cold snap. Over shoot with my mouse, miss 1 auto attack opportunity. Over shoot again, miss another auto attack opportunity. Completely fucking miss my tornado. By now I'm under their tower because I was so confident (and I should have been), but now refraction is back up and I die. FUCKING GREAT.
Similar things happen all game long, worst game I've played in fucking weeks. I disgust myself.

All in all the worst team I've had in, like, ever. Brood was good, SK was flaming me for doing the things he asked me to do, Kunkka...nope, and Zeus, well I guess I can't really fault him, but he wasn't good either.
Apparently (that was the team consensus, because it was clearly my fault we lost) you're supposed to rush pipe on DK not build dps. Because they deal enough damage...yeah right. I saw that "enough damage".
Edit: next game - yeah, sure Luna on solo suicide lane why not

Biggest idiot AM yesterday...I was leshrac and babysitting him in safe lane and give him freefarm. He builds treads, stout shield and the next item he gets is a javelin.
Me: AM please tell me you're not going a basher first.

What the fuck? He and his buddy DS spend the rest of the game blaming the loss on me for missing my stuns...lol. Apparently at the end of the game he said "lol of the day: basher is a bad item". LOL. Somehow I don't even think these idiots know that split earth has a casting delay. Honestly I don't think there's anything I hate more on this planet than people who are wrong yet think they are right.

i was playing with AK (tler woop) and i played antimage laned with a tiny who was mad because he wanted to safe lane with his luna friend, instead of putting luna with our 1 support hero like i suggested and forced (by going top with tiny). So tiny threw me consistently into the enemy team where i would get double stunned and barely get out because of blink, he then threw me as i was salving up after his last toss, lost the salve and died, then he mocked me for dying ect ect ect. when i got my miraculous 20 minute battlefury. i say miraculous because even though it's a poor time, having a tiny toss me out of the way so he can get last hits and killing me with it making it impossible to farm well, anyway after i get battlefury i'm told by the teamed up friends "LOL AM got battlefury noob, no basher LOLOLOL" and harrassed me all game. i ended up with 600 gold/minute then it happens i go in killed 3 people got out ran back into my base because i couldn't handle the fed carry + dragon knight on my own with 1/5 life. and what am i greeted with? a tiny who ran up and threw me back into them right after i blink, and i die, no buyback because i had to buy out my items in order to avoid losing fights to the heavily fed enemy team we lose the game right there. That game made me sad.

I dont know what the fuck happened when I got dc'd from the game but my internet is still alive. Got a farmed AM winning a very close 55min game then all of a sudden I can't reconnect. Even after restarting dota2 the reconnect button disappeared. Disappointed.

Typically, if you try to reconnect after a server crash it'll give an error message. Then you reboot the game and it will be as if it never existed.
