Bottle seems good on mid phoenix dunno
I watched a good (5.5K?) phoenix play a 1v1 lane skilling 1-1-4-1 and just lasering his opponent at every opportunity (note that his opponent was a slark so melee range, limited escape, no stun/silence and not terribly vulnerable to fire spirits). Now it was offlane but the build was clearly due to the 1v1 nature of the lane. He got a few solo kills cuz laser is 270 dmg + 36% of MAX hp aka around a 65+% nuke to ur average hero at level 7.
however i'm sure thats obscenely situational since ur average mid hero is likely to have an escape, position well enough to be not laser vulnerable, be able to just nuke you down, or some combination of the 3. just a funny phoenix build that was very effective that I saw.

Someone suggested Glimmer Cape for Magnus; felt that was alright.

I don't see where it really fits in the progression of arcanes, blink, force, refresher (bkb when needed post blink).
The problem is glimmercape locks you out of refresher basically entirely because even with manaboots + force you cant use it and double RP consistently until you have a LOT of points into stats (like level 23ish). Shadowblade is actually quite a bit better for the much lower mana cost and ability to keep your initiation unpredictable for long periods of time (you still blink in but blinking from invis is much more powerful than blinking from vision). Obviously it lacks the team utility though and it's stats don't synergize that well with the pure-casting magnus build that I suggested above.
Alternately I guess you can build glimmer then disassemble for shadowblade at some point.

Glimmer is a suitable stopgap item if you're getting Shiva's, since Shiva's gives you a big chunk of mana anyway and the complementary nature of the two items (Glimmer protects against magic, Shiva's protects against physical) work decently together.
Deciding whether Shiva's is more appropriate to get first than Refresher in a given game is a different question entirely, and if your default item choice is Refresher, Glimmer is situational at best.

yes, I w as thiking glimmer as situational.

The Bounty Hunter guide doesn't have Orb of Venom?
|
Quick question - I was looking at the Sven guide and wondered if the Extension items, or all items in general, are listed in order of acquisition (from left to right)? Cuz I feel like Moon Shard isn't the first extension item for Sven which is why I was curious.
|
Its not in order of acquisition. The items are game dependent, you probably shouldnt be getting all of them in any given game. I don't think torte has a system in mind for extension items.

They were originally, but now they're ordered by cost.
Extension is choice, Core is by order.

Does bounty hunter ever NOT want an Orb of Venom sometime before level 8?

The hero invariably fills his early game item slots. Stick/Wand, PMS upgrade, Aquila, casual Bracer (or on the way to Drums), Null on the way to Dagon, Bottle, Urn, etc. Not to mention that support BH might be carrying one or both ward types or Dust. There's a lot of early game items that all fight for those early game slots and OoV isn't such a clear winner that it always trumps the others, especially since most of the others either build into bigger items or stay good for longer (and unlike carries who get it, he's never going to get Skadi, so you're always going to sell it, not stash it for later).
That said, the guide in general is woefully inadequate in this department.

Bounty Hunter guide is pretty tight, but it can fit 2-3 items more.
