Nooooooooooo! Well.... I'll just tell the story, then.

We lost 2 sets of rax and the enemy was fountain camping us while killing our Ancient. The enemy Lifestealer drops all his items in front of the fountain including Midas, Abyssal Blade, Desolator, and who knows what else (he was loaded) in front of the fountain and allchats "to help you come back." As they're killing our Ancient we decide to give it one last go and successfully teamwipe them with the Ancient at 200 HP. Our teamwork, farming, and communication up until this point was frankly lacking.

Then, facing defeat, our team decides to band together for the hell of it, just to see if we can prevent our Ancient from dying in the next attack. We repel them again. Big plays from our Centaur and Tidehunter and lucky PA crits from myself keep us in the game a little bit longer. We eventually take Roshan and start contemplating going on the offensive. One critical battle wipes the enemy team, leaving only me (PA) and Zarplex (DK) standing. Without enemy buyback, we rush their mid T3, skip their rax, tackle the T4s, then manage to destroy the Ancient before any enemy rezzes.

If true (why wouldn't it be), we need to find a way to watch this game. It sounds perfect. Is there anything better than a pompous lifestealer getting his comeuppance?

Get into a pubmatch and the following happens:

1) No brazilians
2) No russians
3) Everyone speaks english
4) Everyone has a mic to chat
5) Everyone plays their role effectively

Happened to me last night, a rare but special match.

So I meet up with my best friend since childhood, which I haven't seen in two years and recently returned from abroad. He needs to stay a couple of days in town so we decide that it would be awesome if crashes over for good time sakes. We take lunch at this chic turkish restaurant during my work break. I see the waitress, tell him I think she's cute. Than he suddenly tells her what I said and proceeds to do the best wingman/setup I ever witness.

After both my and her work end, we pick her up, hit a couple of drinks and come back all three at my apartment where we light a joint and chill. He leaves us alone, and I proceed to what it turned to be one of my best love making sessions I ever lived.

She falls asleep, and me and him move to kitchen table with our laptops. We started to play Dota. We got crushed in each and every game. About 12 of them. 12 painful games of trying to do your best, sometimes failing, sometimes doing it but for nothing ,since we lost them all. I felt frustration, rage and later tiredness but we kept playing game after game telling ourselves one more, we win and go to sleep. We never did win. And I never went to sleep.

Instead I went directly to work after taking a quick shover. He played one more, alone, fast win, fast sleep.

Now I'm at work tired as hell after trying to win a dota game all night.
But in the end... It does not matter, I got laid.

i played naga siren once and it was a really rough early game ... and i didnt rack up too many kills .. but the astonishing part was i was abusing illusion ang microing them like crazy .. thanks to starcraft skill requirment really helped .. every single time the opponent would stun/ss everytime they wasted countless skill on my illusion they met my illusion ang i would just send them consecutively and everywhere .. later in the game they started ignoring me even though it was the real hero i was sending .. and i would just use my ss everytime .. since we can set during a engagement we eventually won the game

Played a game as Shadow Shaman yesterday. Bought wards and stacked creeps and pulled the safelane and everything. Right before we try to push up the ramp to their mid tier 3, Drow pings me and says "Best support I've ever seen in DotA."
I felt so proud we got the tower and won a big teamfight after too. Easy win from there

Just played a wonderful solo queue. First guy randoms Lycan, second guy picks Zeus, third guy picks Lone Druid, then a Dragon Knight, then I take Jakiro. This comp, I'm thinking, is already miles ahead of most solo queues. Then the Lone Druid gives up first blood. I'm a little concerned, but he proceeds to get a triple kill on a gank. So, wow. Our team knows our objectives, we trade kills while pushing towers, I have wards everywhere, I managed to stack ancients four times to get cleaned up by DK, and we promptly win. Thanks, guys!

Man, what a difference when your supports actually KNOW how to play support. Picked Luna to be the hard carry of the team as 3/4 just randomed. Team was DK, Veno, Nyx, and ES. This Veno man.. had to commend him. Very early in the game he started ancient stacking for me, as DK was too busy ganking. Warded like a boss too. Knew when to place offensive and defensive wards. Didn't get to carry much though as the ES, DK and Nyx gank train was too much for the other team.
I know where my towel is.

this is one of the best games ive ever had, whole team held shit down while my play was kinda sub par early on. I was LD on mid i lost my bear twice giving thier mid axe 600 extra gold, even though i was crushing him in the cs department. A couple of successful fights down bottom and them holding them off lets me get some tower kills, and assert our map control. Amazing warding and counter warding going on, even though we lose rosh twice for free cause we are not in position to contest it. There amazing warding let me farm myself back in the game, and the amazing ults of lich set up fights so damn well.so i could do my right click thing. Shadow shamans split push and fucking ult traps really turned teamfights and gave me even more room to farm. and rubick had some baller ass baits when he used his ghost scepter. to bait out fights so lich could get a good ult one of the few games where we won 24-37 just from smart positioning, avoiding fights, and winning the big team fight when it counts.

my most memorable game is playing as spectre, with a team of supports (CM, 2other supports, 1 leaver ) against a team of gankers (bounty hunter, bloodseeker, lina, 2 others i forget)

we were 0-12 for the first 20 minutes, we lost t1 and t2 rax on offlane and mid lane, had 1 leaver (because we were losing), the remainder of my team wanted to leave because they thought it was over, but i told them we could still win because i was free farming the entire time, and they stayed, although we were losing in kills, in towers, in levels and was playing 4v5. i told my team to camp the tower until i had my items and just dont feed anymore, and they listened

i had safelane and undisturbed farm and by 22 minutes completed phase boots, vanguard and radiance just as they were pushing up our mid t3, i joined the battle and they used all their skills on me, but i team wiped them with about 100 hp left.

the remainder of the game was my team farming the jungles and one lane (on my orders) while i was 1v5ing the enemy team and solo pushing two lanes, by the time i had heart, diffiusal and butterfly i had pushed two of their lanes to the rax (by this time their heroes also had enough farm so that they are able to kill me if they all target me). i got killed twice, bought back the second time, at this point my support teammates had farmed up enough items and joined the final push

I have a friend who's completely new to the game (I'm fairly new myself, though I'm familiar with the controls) who primarily plays support. Even though we're both pretty low-level, we have an 80% winrate over a solid number of games, when I'm much lower with every other playing partner I have, even the high-level ones who join and pubstomp. It's pretty awesome playing with him, even if I have to teach him things at times, because he doesn't get upset and is never puffed up about his own skill. He just plays the game, even if it isn't always perfect, and communicates with me through the whole affair. I think that's worthy of this thread, even if it isn't just one moment.

When a DotA match is looking like a loss for your team, no one wants to accept personal responsibility for the loss. This usually leads to the conversation between your team devolving into a blame/flame-fest.

However, I won the DotA lottery once. We threw a huge lead away and were in the process of being throned, and something amazing happened guys... My team mates (all strangers) began to discuss our loss. I joined in as well, and everyone objectively (OBJECTIVELY!!?!?) talked about what we could have done instead to win the game. I was so fucking shocked that I instantly commended everyone, and even better, a few of us queued up for several games afterwards and now I have a couple of really good DotA buddies.

Good times

This was a really long time ago (about a month) but we had two leavers but our other 3 didn't leave and we ended up winning~ I was literally just blinking into camps screaming the crap out of creeps to get the extra farm.... We almost lost in the middle of the game because they were getting good teamfights but we pulled it off at the end after getting a few rax~

It's astonishing that there are so many brag posts here in a thread made to compliment those players who actually support the team above themselves.

Basically, support players.

DotA is so full of people who think the only fun to be had is to pick a carry and expect to have the game go their own way. Then, in the rare occasion that happens they feel vindicated and convince themselves that they're great players and that when things don't go their way, it's because of their allies.

I have a recommendation for everyone: play support/offlane more often.

I forced myself to play these roles extensively due to the constant carry picks in pubs. I learned Wisp, Rubick, Shadow Demon, Windrunner, Treant Protector, Clockwerk, Jakiro etc and mastered stacking and pulling. It amazes me how when I play with people who have 200+ wins, I still have to teach people how to stack and pull as a support.

The truth is, there is a lot of fun to be had from playing support and you actually have a larger say on the game than if you play carry - think about warding, roaming, ganking, stacking and pulling, denying etc and you have a lot of responsibilities other than simply finding farm.

As a support, I get a lot of pleasure from keeping my team alive and giving my life if necessary for the sake of assisting the teamfights. A lot of players here seem very thankful but too few talk of their own experiences in helping others.

Anyway, getting back on to the true topic, meeting a fellow support in a game and having them time their disruption, shallow grave, stuns etc perfectly is amazing. Also having the lane and map awareness to ward and only support the carry when necessary (thus allowing full exp gain) is amazing to see. Seeing the creep camp being stacked at 0:53 is incredibly rare but always great to behold.

Yep I feel as a support player, I make things happen. I ward (no one EVER wards in pubs it seems) and I set up most ganks, I direct the flow of our situation and tell people when to group up or push and etc, and if they listen then its always a win or super close. I can't stand playing carry; sitting by yourself just farming away for 30 minutes is boring as hell. I rather be making plays at 10 minutes. Even as a 5 role with CM or Jakiro, I often initate and while I may die, it usually ends up a 1 for 3/4 trade.

I had a game yesterday that started terrible; forget the exact lineup but basically we went down 4-20 in the first 30 minutes with only one tier 2 tower left vs them having all towers up, but they had no "hard" carry except Slardar or TA while we had a Gyro. With good warding and coordinating we managed to pick off Slardar multiple times alone, and clean up the rest of their team one by one, this happened 3 times allowing us to push bot and mid to their tier 3s.. They even got rosh twice, and we still managed to disable slardar enough (me with euls) to clean up the rest then take him on 5v1. Its just nice when a game starts so bad and everyones complaining at eachother for sucking in their lanes, and you take command as a support and coordinate a win out of it. The power of warding and fitting your team needs, not just picking an afk carry like everyone else in pub.
