I've also tried fullscreening and what not and it still didn't work. I've got the same settings as the video, (only changed the resolution) so... what gives? For a lot of people it helps to check the "File Output" (whether you want to or not) and try again - it seems there's a bug i Dxtory for some people - maybe write the author about it.

Thank you for this guide.
I've wanted to be able to record or stream games. XSplit just making my comp load so now I'm using Dxtory + XSplit. Shame I cant record in good quality with graphics settings on SC2 over Medium tho. Im used to playing on Ultra settings
Here is a game I recorded and put on YouTube: youtube.com/watch?v=fnYhFB7ieDM

Is it purely the bit-rate that can affect this or something else? Should i increase bitrate? I thought 700 would be enough. Yeah, it's mostly the bitrate, but also the "preset", "quality" and to some degree the SC2 graphics settings you use (the lower, the simpler and thus easier to compress without blur occuring)

Thanks again mate, if you play Zerg i can perhaps help you in return Adjusting bitrate by 50 kbit/s is unfortunately not going to give you any clearly visible change . It's all tied together, but personally I think preset is the most underestimated quality adjustment - however it really demands a powerful CPU to go beyond "default" (aka "veryfast").
The best thing you could do is simply set the bitrate as high as it allows without lag* and then adjust quality/preset while monitoring your CPU usage and streaming a replay with 200/200 armies.
*This will become so much easier in one of the next XSplit updates, when the "bandwidth test" feature gets introduced.

In the meantime, perhaps you could do me one last favor and watch this recording from today, skip it to some action and let me know what you think of the visibility in fullscreen? Is it watchable to you? http://www.twitch.tv/dtoxstarcraft/b/299563678 I guess it's subjective - I wouldn't mind watching it, but the blurring is pretty bad - especially (and naturally) when you move the screen from one place to another quickly. Is the VOD from after the tweaking?

One question: Does the XSplit premium gamesource feature remove the chopiness at all / as well as dxtory? Anyone tested this?
|
Dxtory is significantly better at it. I see no performance gains with game source vs screen capture.

lol, my memory seems to be a bit outdated TT
|
Yeah I can also only stream when File output is on T_T

Thanks for spreading the word about Dxtory, and you're right. Using xSplit for capture brings my i7 system to a crawl. ~20-40fps. With this I'm losing about 15 frames total for all the games I've tried.
My upload is a little bit better than yours, but I'm not able to replicate your quality. xSplit just blurs and pixelates the screen so much when there's any movement. Tried lowering and increasing the VBV Buffer with little to no improvement.
Any recommendations? I get 0.6MB to San Francisco via SpeedTest.net results

Fixed the problem of not recording(or only when File output is on) by downgrading to 1.0.8, the download's on the site.

How do you think an AMD Phenom II X4 980 Black Edition would stream?
I have 50mbs download, 1mb upload.

I'll repeat my request for Nepsilon to copy/paste some of the nice-to-know-things (like bugs, tips, fixes) into the OP - would save a lot of time for readers of the guide as well as those who help answer questions
