You have to decide individually by testing or letting others test and read their reviews. The more professional and comprehensive, the better. Besides the data and facts there are also personal preferences. For example the MX switches. Some people prefer blacks, others browns and other blues. There are even more switches. Keyboard with USB or without? With LED or without? With audio I/O or without? etc There is no better. There are just features, people want or don't want. Let me give you my requirements: MX blacks, LED, non-US layout (maybe USB & audio but not really important) Neither Razer, nor Steelseries has such a keyboard. There will be the Mionix Zibal 60 soon. I'll wait for some minor reviews but most likely get that thing as it fits my requirements. tldr: There is no best. You have to decide individually for yourself (with every product) and not just go for a companies name.

I use products from both companies and they are both really good however. SteelSeries build quality is second to none, the 7G keyboard which I have is literally one of my most prized possessions. The 7G is a beast, it weighs a tonne and looks the part, typing on it will ruin every other keyboard you will ever type on though. Fair warning, its awesome to type on and has made me want to type faster and faster just to hear the wonderful clicks of the keys hitting home to produce that chatterful melody!

Cherry Blues are more tactile than Blacks, and are better for RTS gaming. Blacks make for stiffer keyboards (require much more force to press), and are better for FPS If you want to stray away from both these brands (recommended), go for Das, Filcos, or Zowies. Das have 2 versions (click and silent). Clicks use Blues, and silents use Browns. Browns require even less pressure to press down than Blues, but don't sound. Das also has the Ultimate S, which is extremely badass (it doesn't have letters printed on it). Filcos also use Browns, and I believe Zowies vary (the ones I saw used Browns). IMO, get the Das (Ultimate or not obv depends on your fimiliarity with a keyboard), they are extremely solid, and I have yet to find any problems with my current one (S). Good Luck!

And how do you define "much more force"? Twice as much? Three times as much force... Statements like these make my blood boil... I was about to order a SteelSeries 7G, but seeing this comment, without any form of source/proof makes for a much thougher desition, seeing as I already own a Das Silent Ultimate which you are directly comparing it too. Needless to say, I'm non the wiser after reading your post, even if you tried to convey some sort of point, without backing it up in any way, shape or form...
On July 03 2011 03:08 stormchaser wrote: Steelseries for one reason: doesn't have flashy lights that make the keyboard cost twice as much and make it look like a kids toy.
Steelseries Zboard - $69.99 Razer BlackWidow BlackWidow - $79.99 As for the second set of keyboards, those are the most expensive of each, so can't really count those since keyboards out there cost 300 bucks if you get ergonomical ones. Hell I'm sure you could find a keyboard more expensive than some people's cars. As well as that razer still has flashy lights. Don't try to tell me they don't because you won't be able to say much in that argument.

Besides this embodiment of kids toy, this keyboard seems to have rubber domes and no mechanical switches. So nothing to compare there. edit: Oh, and the LED are a pretty nice feature. It's just light. No toy. I have light at my bed, light at my ceiling and light at my keyboard keys (don't have a Razer keyboard). Depending on where I need light, I just use it there. I don't switch on the ceiling light if it's dark and I use the PC. I just use the light from the keyboard etc. No toy. Just light.

Hey... i feel like you might have taken my post a little person sorry if you did i was just trying to clear up your misinformation. The ZBoard as far as i know and as far as i could find on the Steelseries website does NOT have mechanical switches so i'm not quite sure why you would make the comparison. Also the BlackWidow (normal) has one "flashy light" which is just their logo underneath the space bar and it can be turned off quite easily.

Unless you count the light for numlock etc as a flashy light. Myself I use the Razer Blackwidow (non-ultimate) and I am extremely satisfied, took only a little while to get used to it. Because the layout, angle of keys etc. Was a lot different than my previous keyboard (some logitech junk)

Poll: What company produces the best mechanical Keyboard? a) More useless flashing lights than a Japanese episode of Dragonball Z b) The only thing known to man to have a shittier Build Quality than Razer c) das. d) Filco. e) Certainly not razer or steelseries. A better question is "Which Company's Product Will Fall Apart Slower?" or "I am Trying to Raise a Table Leg by Approximately 2 Inches, Which Company's Keyboard Should I use For This Task?" or even "I Listen Exclusively To Pretty Lights and Useless Extra Buttons, Which Company's Keyboards Have The Most Tacked on Useless Shit?" edit: not a fan of Razer since I got absolutely buttfucked by their "Customer Service" which is an odd fucking name for "Spawn of Satan" As for Steelseries, between me and 4 friends we have had: 2 keyboards, 3 headsets, 2 Xai Mice, and even a fucking mousepad fall apart on us. Customer Service was merely retarded as opposed to actively trying to destroy my dreams.

Doesnt take long to find all the problems Blackwidow has on the net, sticky keys, keybreaking, stupid macro keys, shifted F keys. Only problem with SS 6gv2 or the 7G is that you may not be used to the black switch however atleast theres no quality issues. I only use my black widow for the audio extension got it sitting behind the screen..to be soon replaced with a cable
