It finally arrived. Been needing a new mouse for a while now. I have been using the old microsoft optical wheel for 5-6 years, and just lately the right button of the mouse broke.

Here are some quick pics I snapped. not good quality, took it with my iphone.

Packing is really nice. Feel of the mouse is absolutely AMAZING. I haven't tried much other high end gaming mice but I have tried razer naga and razer deathadder. this one feels the best out of all of them imo. I love the larger buttons and my grip feels perfect on it.
mouse is also pretty light and i love the matte feel to the overall mouse, very high quality.

I haven't played a legit game with it yet, but I did go into a custom for a few mins to test out the mouse pointer speed, see if it skips and what not. also to see if the apm lighting works and if my macro worked.

mouse speed and everything is perfect, i have no problems with it so far. apm lighting is really sick even though i doubt ill be looking at my mouse. you can change the colours from like 0-50 apm as one colour, then 50-100 etc. you can also change the normal lights. as you can see from the last pic, the normal lights are blue, but i changed it to white to match the keyboard lights from my macbookpro.

my macro didnt work though i probably input it wrong. i was trying to make 1 of my side buttons as a shift key, so i can hold it then do right click and que up actions. anyone know how to make it like that?

i will play more actual ladder games later on and post up another quick summary of what the mouse is like.

One thing to note though is that when I do lift my mouse and put it back, the cursor does move/skip a little. Also packaging is retarded took me fucking forever to open the packaging with the instruction manuals. razer packing has always been nice, but this time it was way too hard for me to open it, i had no idea how and i accidently ripped a chuck off the box that contained the manual, oh well. and finally this is nit picking but i dont see a point in a 7 feet cord. i have a razer headset and the cord always pisses me off cause its so long.

polling rate is how frequent the cursor is updated. The standard is 125 times a second (125 hz) but recently it has been commen to use 500 hz. 1000 is usually overkill. x y sensitivity is sens indepedantly set on the x and y axis

There have been reports of occasional computer slowdowns, though I myself have a pretty old crappy PC but never noticed anything bad from 1000 Hz USB polling rate. So it may not do harm, but it doesn't do much good either, it only gets you 1 ms compared to 500 Hz. The big improvement is going from 125 Hz to 500 Hz (6 ms improvement).

played a couple of team ladder games. no problems at all. very smooth, precise and slick cursor movements. some people say the lights are gimicky, but they actually work, and its just a nice little bonus to have if you do want to get a sense of your general apm

AutoHotKey is a good free program to re-map buttons, such as shift key to mouse buttons, in case it's confusing or impossible to do it with razer's software.

Can you test the liftoff distance? Just lift the mouse up and measure approximately how far from the surface the mouse is when it stops tracking, and what surface you're using.

Thanks for the review btw =)

yeah this mouse is failed with razer tweaked sensor, there is classic "razer high end" mouse problems, cursor moving when u click and all this things which u can find in mamba and other "razer high end"(tm) mouse=)
That is interesting, at logitech there can be a same sensor control as at new razer, but there is no these problems, while in razer they already are implied.

very happy hasn't made pre order of the spectre, and has bought g9x one month ago.

the philips twin eye laser... about its z-axis issue, i didn't know the cursor moves that much. but i love that the buttons need so low pressure to click.

and thanks for sharing your experience Oscatron

nope. if the mouse is designed to run at that polling rate, it will work fine. it only does harm if you overclock a mouse that wasn't meant to handle it, like an intellimouse 3.0 or something.

cool review. i'm still happy with my salmosa so i won't be switching, but i'm glad that the mouse isn't shit quality. usually when razer is designing something around a gimmick it ends up being kinda bad.

no 1000 is definitely better than 500, that other guy is just butt-hurt because he has a 500 polling rate on his mouse

you won't notice the difference from 500 to 1000 anyway. Many people state 1000 may affect weaker computers.
