"Wants to defend," can't select anything - help?

KirkPete 3 Posts August 20 2018 20:31 GMT #1 I don't know how it happens, but every once in a while I accidentally hit some combination of keys that disables gameplay entirely. I try to select anything and I get a beeping sound and a message "wants to defend." The only way I've been able to get rid of it is to forfeit the game and relaunch SC. How does this happen, and how can I fix it without surrendering?

PiGStarcraft Australia987 Posts August 20 2018 20:37 GMT #2 sounds like one of your modifiers on your keyboard is getting jammed, probably shift. Hit pause break on your keyboard to pause game and then open a word document and smash your shift key (ctrl and alt too just incase its them) until it starts behaving as normal again

Pretty sure this is an alt-tab bug. yeah, i'm not the OP but this has only ever happened to me while i'm trying to be fancy tabbing in and out of a game while it's loading, which is extra frustrating because i have to tab out and back in before making my first worker, which makes the game feel like a waste already. does pressing alt fix it? i'll have to try that next time

tRaiNeDpLaYa1 1 Post August 20 2018 20:56 GMT #5 this happens to me when I alt tab sometimes and SC game starts and I don't alt tab back in, usually just alt+ tab ->select sc2 as main window fixes this

deacon.frost Czech Republic12129 Posts August 20 2018 22:19 GMT #6 if it's the alt tab bug - I play without alt-tab(disabled in settings I believe, I set it up when WoL came out how shoudl I remember) and I go out via windows key(can be disabled too). This is probably the reason I disabled it the long time ago(in a galaxy far far away)
