If I remember correclty Destiny have done Brutal chievos before and it wasn't that easy, I guess he still remembers. Alos he's good
I imagine France should be able to take this unless Lilbow is busy practicing for Starcraft III. | KadaverBB is my fairy ban mother.

? sorry I hear risk of diabetes and blood pressure raises from sleep deprivation, but I'm not a doctor or any kind of authority on it. id like to know how this works though: "that standard pretty much every time-constrained competition would be unethical."

Destiny won because he didn't sleep and streamed like 30+ hours straight on the second day. He also had the smart approach where he did the missions on brutal first. Other streamers started playing on hard to get the mission achievements in one go and then replayed them on brutal.

Here's the link to destiny's vod, assuming it's allowed to post links. That's the link to day one.

risk of developing high blood pressure might rise over time from extended periods of sleep deprivation, key words being risk, might, over time and extended periods.
you made it sound like you know that having 1 instance of extended sleepless period has a real chance of causing permanent damage, like brain-damage or something, which is absolutely untrue, what happened hear, basically skipping one night of sleep, has no chance of causing "permanent damage" to anyone, so get off your ethical high ground.
There was nothing unethical about the challenge, as in countless cases in life, there was a goal to achieve, and an incentive to be the first to achieve it. Some people chose to pull an all-nighter, which is commendable and kudos to them for the dedication.

And getting back to the other part of ur original post, there s no embarrassment for "the scene", there was a small number of streamers (no progamers), who were invited to do the challenge. Winter (2nd) said he never finished the achievements before this, im sure Neuro (3rd) dindt either, so by what standard is it embarrassing, and for whom, that Destiny took it, I have no idea.

Okay so I gooled this: www.popsci.com, because I was sure I had read something like that before. It's not the same article that I read before but talks about the same study I think. I didn't say anything about brain damage so I'm not sure what you're talking about there.

I guess it's pretty subjective what's embarrassing, I just find it funny that a guy who haven't touched the game in ages could win this challenge. Obviously it's not the same as winning actual tourney against pro players.

After he completed brutal he played on normal for the "8h achievement". I think to start on normal (for that 8h achievement) then brutal would be the fastest way.

The health impacts and risks of extended sleep deprivation and marathon gaming sessions (inadequate break times etc) are significant and well established

The best approach would definitely be playing through on brutal with the speedrun route, getting all the achievements and making a save before the Char missions. If you know what you're doing, that should clock in at less than 8 hours so you don't have to play everything twice. In fact, you can probably fit some more missions into that time frame to get better upgrades and make certain missions easier, especially The Dig where orbitals are extremely useful if you're gonna clear all enemies which is the fastest way to beat the mission, achievements or not.

After that, you'd load from the save before Char and go through the remaining 10 missions on brutal with achievements.
It's possible on every missions to get all achievements on brutal (even if a couple are a bit tricky) and I'm pretty sure it's always worth it to do that except maybe the kill all enemies achievement on Zeratul 2.

Hurry Up: It's Raid Night (10) Complete the Wings of Liberty campaign under 8 hours of total played mission time on Normal difficulty.

I really thought you have to play it on Normal difficulty only.

It's the same wording as every other achievement that mentions a difficulty, it should just mean normal or higher.

I couldnt watch all that much, but I think it was definitely a mistake trying to force achievements on brutal, its probably where Neuro went wrong. Sure, it s possible on paper, if u re very well prepared in advance, but as we saw most participants werent very well prepared for the campaign, so it hasnt worked out for them.

The speed-run Achievement really messes with your mind, but it can be rushed really really fast, i ve done it yesterday, nowhere near 8 hours are necessary, i think i clocked in about 5 and it was a far throw from ideal run, so i guess it can be done in around 4 hours, if u do everything perfectly and use all the cheese strats, then it s probably less then 4.
Im pretty sure there was at least 1 mission where neuro for example spent 3 hours at the least, so by that standard, it s not so crazy
