Ascension to Aiur, Odyssey & Sequencer looks decent - hope they will also work in practice
Blood Boil looks tricky (2 entrances to the main)
Defenders Landing simply put looks bad.

Overall quite nice mappool - I hope for good games on those maps

Whoever voted for/decided that Defender's Landing should be in the mappool is in need of some extensive psychological care. I don't see how you could put together a single argument that'll defend this disaster of a map.

I am really excited they are going to experiment with the resources of the maps, that is really cool and brave! I like that step a lot.
Defender's Landing is indeed looking weird, but there are vetos of course.

Looking forward to trying them out.

It's funny, people here are misevaluating Blood Boil badly. I'm not a huge fan of the map, but people are acting like it's going to be this aggression-fest because it has a main backdoor. In practice it actually had macro games where Toss was going up to carriers and wrecking people. I think the 3rd that toss was taking had a gas taken away since then to balance this, but the point remains that it won't be this super aggressive map simply because of a main backdoor - you have to look at the entire map not just one feature. The map is large and it takes a long time to get to that backdoor.

I hate the changes rolled out to Blood Boil. The entire map looks the same now, and it's not even good. Why they feel the need to make changes like this without saying anything to the mapmaker confounds me.

yeah ive played all these maps a lot
my biggest concern is that i havent met anyone who doesnt experience an FPS drop on bloodboil LE and for some players its huge. (150 -> 50)

edit: defenders landing would be better if the natural made any kind of sense. even like 10% "yeah i see why they did that" but its actually so fucking confusing. i look at the natural and i just think wow this is the natural of two different maps combined into 1

dont know why blizzard is so rock fckin hard for maps that arent possible to wall in reasonably in pvz or tvp on the natural. nothing exciting about losing to ling/adept runbies. just telegraphs "we dont want terran or protoss to attack until they take a third base," which is boring. this map will have a really disgusting high z/p winrate, it will be forgotten in 2 months as a result.

It is a nice tittle, i just wanted you to say that, .. at least it is a clear cut title to entice people to post

we need more threads / outlet about community and blizzard maps that are or would become ladder maps,
good on you to do one.
The tittle made me smile that's all, "did your map pass the mapmaker's test"? is how i read it i guess
and that's fine, i wish it were so
every map would have to be in its thread and all mapmakers (to keep their active mapmaker card active) would post one post and then edit it if warranted, but all would be present..
then each OP would link to "best/worst" about the map from "every mapmaker..
mmm that would be good...
disclaimer:any one person thinking about how maps are made can be a "mapmaker", it is better if you make / made some yourself but not a prerequisite to voice stuff about a map.

then we could have a COMMUNITY melee maps WE want on tl
not a competition to get in
a competition to have a decent pool!

At least it's blocked by rocks further down behind the backdoor expansion, and that can be blocked off further with a rock tower.

I personally hate when a map dictates strategy. Maps should ENABLE players to play a variety of ways instead of forcing them to play how the mapmaker intended.
