Showtime is very good but not Stats-level. Nerchio is very good but not Dark-level. Foreigners have some really strong players, players that can beat most Koreans even, but nobody that can actually take on Korea's finest.
Stats lost to Harstem 0-2 in Katowice and lost to Nerchio in qualifiers to Katowice. He is definitely within reach of at least 10 foreigners. Dark - probably the best SC2 player right now, there is no example to give here, still given more opportunities he will be taken out. Generally the gap is closing and by each passing month the chances will improve.
Few games won against a player who plays a lot in every tournament says nothing, find me a foreigner can beat Inno 3-2, beat Byun 3-1, beat Dark 3-1 and take 3 games against TY in bo7 when it matters. By saying on the same level with Stats, that player must be capable of advancing to semi or final of big tournaments like Blizzcon, GSL, IEM.

This will happen, and I think it can happen pretty soon, too. The problem is once it happens, people will always find excuses as to why Korean A lost to Foreigner B.
Btw: It's not too long ago we had a foreigner win Kespa Cup in Korea, surrounded by Korea's finest. But I guess there are ways to "explain" that too.
That being said - Why can't we for once just be super happy that WCS Austin is happening soon and try to have a thread that does not end up on this mega worn out topic (which I am partaking in myself atm..doh! ). In my opinion StarCraft2 is in a better state than in a while, and 2017 looks to be excellent in terms of tournaments - both regional and global.

ALIVE GMAE!!!
Really great to see DH still having sc2, and giving the forgeiner scene some price money. I mean Korea has got the best year since 2013 With 3x GSL saisons 2x SSL saisons with Premier and Challanger and at least 2x VSL with Solo and Team league. And then the Pricepool of the WCS is also really great + the 400k WESG we allready got. I mean TY got in 2 months more prize money save then any other sc2 player got in one year. So all those dead game cry boys loosing all there stupid arguments. And even the weekly and montly cups like go4, Corsair or Shoutcarft have a big prize money. 2017 feels like a dream for me as sc2 fan.

Hey guys, just wanted to check and see if I did this right. I signed up for Austin, but I'm not really sure of the process. Will all open-sign up games take place there or are will there be a prior process? When we go to the tournament, what equipment do we bring (i.e.: nothing, just mouse and keyboard, whole setup, etc.)? I know these are rookie questions, but I'm never tried a tournament so I was just curious what advice y'all might have.
