But MC and Jaedong retired all but in name already.
I'm thinking the same way.

I'm sure he'll do well. Coaching is mostly about getting players on the same line, getting them to work together, practice right, deal with stress etc. MC has more than enough pro gaming experience to know how to tackle these issues. Plus, he's the Bosstoss so nobody will speak against him :D. He can also sing his players to sleep the night before a tournament so they are well rested.

'So there, you force field the enemy minions, so you can save yours. Then you micro around, blink from the bushes and focus fire. Just don't lose any unit and you will be fine'
gl hf MC. Hope to see you at HSC and some other places nonetheless!

Hey, if we can see things like that again, gogo MC :D
Not much you can do now in SC2 unless you move to China or EU. I suspect the scene will get smaller and smaller, so it's pretty reasonable to move on to other games/things.

The only pathetic thing about this news is how petty and toxic the teamliquid community's reaction has been in this thread... Min Chul is a grown man and eventually everyone has to move on from the Esports dream and find real jobs that can sustain an adult life style. Even for someone as financially successful as MC, this is great news that means he gets to continue to work and contribute in the industry he loves. Good for him and I'll be cheering for him even if I personally don't care for the game he's working in currently.

It's been like that for long time now, I think Day9 stopping doing SC2 related stuff was the first instance for the true colors of the community to show. I don't remember similar thing happening when Husky started to move away from the game. And it's not TL, it's this community as a whole, stupidity is even more rampant on sc2 subreddit, can't say much for battle.net forums.
And by the way MC publicly said some time ago that he was giving money to his mother, so his earnings is not really the bank account balance he has. Correct me if I'm wrong though, but I'm pretty sure of that

I see your point. I do believe a big reason Day9 and Husky didn't get much grief is because there was no announcement. Just kind of slowly faded away into other things.
And it's not all that toxic. Its the internet, and unfortunately the toxic people stick out like a sore thumb. Most of the posts here are just sad to see MC go and wish him luck.

Every morning opening TL is a sting now.
|
I didn't know he played league, so good for him i guess.
|
ah, that's why foreigners are able to beat them now.
even when they were playing proleague last year.
|
Best of wishes to MC and Jaedong!!! Was a pleasure watching them play!
|
If he can transfer his killer instincts to his pupils, it doesnt matter which game they play
|
Cool to see he is able to transition to another game as a coach =)
|
at least he found a way to stay actively in esport, props to him
hope he finds success as a coach
|
While I'm bummed that we may not see him competing in SC2 again now, I at least appreciate him sticking around this year for a few more leagues when he was already on the verge of retirement. I hope he shows up in the scene from time to time. His personality is still a treasure.

I'm also happy he will atleast stay in esports

This starts to feel like how the end of bw felt.

it's already begun to collapse. RIP SC2.
I partially blame the new WCS system

Didn't SC2 was rip when they reduced number of proleague teams for 2016? Wasn't that the pinnacle of ded gaem back then? slightly /s
