Team Liquid Power Rank Proves to be Accurate on Day 2
Unpredictability on Day 2 of WCS Global Finals
The second day of WCS Global Finals concluded with a bang, proving once again that no surprise is too big for BlizzCon.
In Group C, the foreigner hype train was picking up even more speed, with ShoWTimE's 2-0 result against Dear arguably providing the first upset of the day. On the flip side of the coin, in the most anti-upset ever seen in the history of the game, ByuN took down viOLet in such quick matches that even the One Man Army himself seemed perplexed. For a brief moment, viOLet seemed to bounce back, but he was eliminated from the tournament, going 1-2 against Dear in the Losers Match.
Group D was great news for Terran fans across the globe, as TY took down Nerchio. Miraculously the mantle of foreign hope was passed on to Elazer, who defeated the five-time premier champion Solar in what's surely to be one of the most memorable upsets of the tournament. Not willing to let go of his share, Nerchio then in turn went 2-1 against Solar in the Losers Match. In the end, both Polish Zerg players are still in the tournament, and Solar's run has ended.
Tomorrow, we'll continue the Round of 16 with all four Winners Matches. The winners will make it to the quarterfinals, while the losers will be relegated to the Decider Matches on Sunday, with one more chance to advance.
Really must suck to be a korean and play non-korean in a mirror zvz or pvp. 4-0 in non-korean favour for now. Really must suck to be a non-korean and play korean in a mirror. Koreans lead to 3-0.
Damn that TY vs Nerchio series. It was the only series I watched whole/without doing something else at the same time because I believe so much in this Polish dude and I like to see some solid players defend the foreign pride; I wasn't disappointed (although he lost but still, he's not out at all yet). GOGO NERCHIO!

I'm usually happy to see a Zerg die, but that series was so one-sided i almost felt bad for violet

Great job on gettysburg against TY. Your decision to semi tradebase/counter attack when he moved out with his massive tank/hellbat army was brilliant.
It really was the move that stopped the series being a 2:0 stomp. If TY hadn't retreated the game would have been over. People say it was poor decision making by TY (which is true) but it was impressive to see nerchio manage to take advantage of it. I don't think any other foreigner would be able to do that.
Games 1/3 were quite one sided, but Nerchio showed he's probably the most focused player in terms on never giving up and fighting as hard as he can (even of it wasn't enough to take TY). He wants the win here at blizzcon so badly. If he tries as hard as he can he should get to ro8 tomorrow. Hes the only foreigner thats almkst garanteed it.

Yeah, I'm happy about it because he deserved a break after getting groups of death both here and in Kespa Cup.

To be honest if Nerchio was in any group here other than maybe C it would be a death group haha
Of all the Koreans on stage, I think Solar was most affected by the loss of his team. His emotional connection to that environment came through in his intro video. While his opponents played well, Nerchio particularly, I think Solar at his peak would have prevailed.
Solar won my respect this year both with his performance and his quiet passion and work ethic. I hope he finds his way back to an environment that nurtures his growth.
Wouldn't be surprised to see more Koreans lose. Most of them recently had their lives turned upside down with so many teams closing down. Can't be good for their mental states.
