The WCS Global Playoffs have finally started, setting up this years’ Grand Finale at BlizzCon on the first weekend of November.
Group A began with a flashback into the times of Korean domination, as Dark crushed PtitDrogo to claim his place in the Winners’ Match, and Stats triumphed over Snute to make the battle for the first spot in the next round an all-Korean affair. Left in the dust, the two Foreigners had to fight for survival, and delivered the biggest upset of the day: The underdog Drogo was able to defeat his Zerg opponent, making Snute the first contender to be eliminated from the Round of 16.
In Group B the Foreigner hope had better luck: Neeblet claimed victory over Patience, fulfilling the ever-growing expectations from fans worldwide in his abilities. In this groups’ Winners’ Match we’ll have a KeSPA Cup rematch, as Neeblet will meet Zest, who survived his clash with Zerg magician TRUE. Both of the groups’ underdogs now found themselves facing elimination and brought out their most action-packed strategies. In a close duel the Afreeca player was able to gain the edge and survive another day, while for TRUE the tournament unfortunately is done.
Tomorrow, the first matches of Groups C and D will be played out, the Winners' Matches will follow on Saturday and the Deciders will be broadcasted on Sunday.
These recaps aren't quite the gushing battle reports of old, but feel much more like modern sports journalism too. Can't really tell whether I like them compared to the old system, but definitely like having something to read after watching
im very sad for snute. the pressure on the players must be so high in these matches. i feeled like it got to snute a lot. gratulation to pitidrogo. he played well but i didnt like his strange post-game interview..
Neeb is again phenomenal in PvP. He abused Patience in those games especially on the 3rd map. I hope he keeps his form vs Zest and continue to be the god of the Protoss gods right now

I think so.
The game on Frost vs PetitDrogo was so weird ! He was ahead all game long, he searched the economical win with a trade of armies and a massive repop but he failed cause Archon still a good unit No hive play, no plan of transition, only lings banelings while he was on B12... I am still circumspect

Aww common, drop the salt shaker... There's nothing wrong with Archons, it was a terrible strategy. If having more stuff, even if its the wrong stuff always means you win it'll be ZvZ all day everyday. Without buggering up hard Zerg will be ahead economically. If it's viable to ling bane all through the game there's no future for PvZ. I suspect if he'd avoided charging in and teched up, maybe throw in some drops or nydus to trade instead of charging face first at the Archons he might have won it.
