This and the normal archon mode sounds cool. I just hope standard of gameplay actually rises because of this

Could be fun for the occasional event. I'd watch.

Do they have to archon the casting too? Like.. both of them talk into one mic.

After watching 1v1 for nearly 5 years and the rare 2v2 tourney, I'm bored... I want to see something new. Haters keep the hate to yourselves. There are more than enough 1v1 tourneys to go around and there always will be as long as the game lives.
Whoever said, "don't throw serious money at this" LOL, fuck off dude. What a selfish thing to say.

this is awesome, will for sure revive starcraft

Stop hating every change, and stop talking shit about the game constantly. Just look at the viewer numbers to the right - CS:GO has 100k and it's just a random weekday league. The big reasons for that is that it's easy to follow a team over a player, the community is more supportive(sorry guys), and it's a team game. Also betting skins, but, meh.
i may not have read every post in this thread but i didn't see anyone "shitting" on this, only people (including myself) raising concerns about whether archon mode is fun to watch or has a quality observer setup for spectating. i'm not going to fawn over something i don't find interesting or exciting to artificially inflate some conception of community support. frankly i don't give about how this community compares to that of other games i don't watch, i'm posting honest feedback and honest opinions

2 progamers probably play worse than 1 in archon mode because they are more annoying to each other than they help. So the only thing it does is reducing the skill gap between the teams compared to the single players. So hype.

I hate everything new and interesting because I fear change, if it were up to me we'd only ever play on 1 map, therefore archon mode tournaments will only lead to the downfall of starcraft and subsequently, humanity as a whole.

I can't wait to see people who are fans of one member of an Archon and not the other blame every mistake the team makes on the player they don't like.
|
There's a lot of opportunity for commentators to insert a narrative in such matches.
|
We might need archon observers tho

On top of the unit selection, it'd be cool to have the screen of each player on the minimap, so you can see how one players screen hovers over the bases and the other players screen are over the army. And how all four screens converge over the large battles. Actually that'd be neat in one in one observing as well.

I completely agree with you. Perhaps a colour coding for each player would be good just so the audience can distinguish who is the one in control doing what. I agree with previous posts in that the game design atm is quite 'unbalanced' and there's a lot of flaws in the new units that will no doubt be abused by pro-gamers. Nonetheless, I'm sure the event will be incredibly fun. (Even if there won't be many protoss making it to the later stages of the tournament) Besides, it's a good way for the pro-gamers to connect with the fans and to basically muck up with the new units.
BW had selection circles of a player's color around units, even though the units were of a team's color. Here's a SC2 version:
http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/sc2-maps/167387-team-melee
You can see red marines with different color selection circles around them, indicating who's the controller.

lets see..."BW posts"..."i want 2vs2 league posts"..."i dont care but i support red bull posts"..."this will be dumb posts"..." i dont like lotv design posts"
well from my point of view i am excited to see this in action. Although it will be even more harder to keep up with all the action on the map for observers.

I really like the idea, hope they go through with it
