Dreamhack Tours: Player Guide
by TeamLiquid ESPORTS
Serral
Recent Achievements: Ro.16 in WCS
Title Win Effect: Hopefully he'll show a good serral-mony
Bomb Out Effect(?): N/A
What would Wax say: You're not elfi
For a while now, Serral has been seen as one of the rising talents of the EU scene. The departure of most of the West’s Korean contingent saw space open up at the big boy table for the zerg, and his appearance at WCS finals weekend last month represented his best finish yet in Starcraft 2. Much like many of Europe’s finest, Serral is somewhat of a regular at Dreamhack, with this being his 9th appearance. As ever with Dreamhack, progress through the group stages should be relatively simple for the seeded players. He’ll have plenty of reason to fear GuMiho—there are few better at meching it happen in the late game scenarios of TvZ—but should have no such difficulties with the dreamers drafted in from the initial stage, and his thoughts should be more focussed on a run through the playoffs. Serral’s story has been of constant, steady improvement. In his first four premier tournaments, he placed in the top 64. In the next six, the top 32; and finally he reached his first top 16 last season in WCS. It’s going to be tough, but he’s got what it takes to push on further.
TRUE
Recent Achievements: Top 4 at Gfinity Spring Masters II
Title Win Effect: Most people except Wax are shocked.
Bomb Out Effect(?): N/A
What would Wax say: The finest of hipster Zergs
Last summer, TRUE was one of the most exciting zergs in Korea. Things had started to click in Proleague—a three kill of SKT, with wins over soO, Classic and Rain; a career high top 4 finish in GSL, and a burgeoning catalogue of wonky and deliciously entertaining games. Since then, though, it’s been much more of a mixed bag. While he has failed in all four individual league qualifiers so far in 2015, his switch in allegiance from Jin Air to Dead Pixels has led to a noticeable shift in priorities. After years in KeSPA, TRUE’s new found freedom has allowed him to tour the international circuit of late, with a spate of appearances at IEMs and Dreamhacks. While he’s still yet to pick up a win, he’s come pretty close—two Round of 4 spots at Dreamhack Moscow and the recent Gfinity Spring Masters, alongside a very disappointing runners up spot at the foreigner-only Gamers Assembly last month. He might no longer be the next big thing, but that doesn’t make him any less dangerous here.
ForGG
Recent Achievements: 2014 Dreamhack Winter Win, 2015 WCS Season 1 RO8.
Title Win Effect: Ah Shit
Bomb Out Effect: Ah Shit
What Would Wax Say: See you in 6 years for your next title win!
If you where to look at ForGG's performance from the prism of his Dreamhack victory, then the last 5 months have been littered with disappointment. He went out in the RO8 of IEM San Jose, lost in disappointing fashion in IEM Taipei's group stage, failed to qualify for Fragbite Masters 2015 Season 4 and lost to Polt in the RO8 of WCS Season 1. However if you look at it from the perspective of his last few years performance, then his results have actually been expected and predictable. ForGG has now shown over the years that he is a very strong and witty player. His mechanical strength and a lifetime of gaming experience give him a baseline of skill that is simply too hard for lesser players to overcome, thus he always makes it pretty deep into a tournament. However, bar his two lifetime exceptions he has lacked that special something needed to win big tournaments. A close analysis of this Dreamhack shows it has a strong Korean presence with rather even distribution of races. So it stands to reason that ForGG could make another deep run only to die at some point to the first strong Korean to oppose him. However you never really know with players like ForGG, if the bracket luck goes his way maybe he can perform another miracle.
Bunny
Recent Achievements: 2015 WCS Season 1 RO4
Title Win Effect: Saves 2015
Bomb Out Effect: Everyone wonders if he was Lucifron all along
What Would Wax Say: accurate name
Bunny is still stuck in that purgatory between good and championship winning good. That horrible spot of close but just no cigar. Several weeks ago he had his best run yet in a Premier tournament, going through a veritable gauntlet of strong opponents before barely being stopped by Polt. Soon after he secured his spot for the second season of WCS, and then he went to Gfinity where he defeated both MC and Patience in rather impressive fashion before bombing out to TRUE. In many ways Bunny embodies his name in its every aspect, he shows incredible play time after time against some of the best in the world, he goes toe to toe with them and wins, but at some point he just runs out of juice. However Bunny is steadily improving, at some point he'll be able to hold enough of a charge to make it all the way. However it is doubtful if this will be the tournament for that to happen. While there are many foreigners for Bunny to bully around there are also 18 fearsome Koreans in attendance, including the mighty and flamboyant PartinG. Bunny's best chance will be to conserve his energy in the group stage and then go ham in the playoff and pray that he can last until the end and that he gets a bracket with fewer Koreans.
GuMiho
Recent Achievements: IEM San Jose RO8, NSSL RO16, GSL S1 RO32, GSL S2 RO16
Title Win Effect: The entire ex-FXO team cry in happiness
Bomb Out Effect: N/A
What Would Wax Say: GuMiGod
The past few months have been phenomenal for GuMiho. After leaving CJ Entus the Nine Tailed Fox transformed his incredible team league prowess into online cup domination. I don't think its physically possible to sign up for each and every one of them, but GuMiho certainly did his best, playing in and winning so many Leifeng and OlimoLeagues, breaking several records and raising the bar that HyuN had set as far as online cups go. However for a while what eluded him were individual league successes. Recently though GuMiho transmuted his online success into the offline domain, he started by dominating his group at IEM San Jose, and then narrowly losing to JaeDong 3-2 in the RO8, he continued doing well, qualifying for the first seasons of both GSL and NSSL and making RO32 and RO16 respectively. While GuMiho failed to make it in the S2SL, he did manage a RO16 right now in the GSL. And better still the combo of GuMiho and Choya have finally been reunited. Last time they were together GuMiho made a RO4 of GSL, only losing to the eventual champion, DRG, and FXO went on two win GSTL twice, mostly off the back of GuMiho's brilliant finals performance. It's hard to say what immediate impact Choya has had on GuMiho's performance, but people should be on their guard none the less.
San
Recent Achievements: A few Korean lan qualifications
Title Win Effect: San goes on a date with Taeja
Bomb Out Effect: N/A
What Would Wax say: Give us Sangate or give us death!
San used to be well-respected. San used to be a top contender for weekend tournaments as well as individual leagues. He experienced considerable success with a repertoire of abusive followups to his notorious only-successful-at-LANs Sangate. He was proficient in PvP and flexible enough in PvT to manage players who were arguably better than he was. San used to be consistently in the talks for top 5 Protoss in the world.
Now, it's pretty hard to find redeeming qualities about San. His most impressive results recently are a 2-0 win over Symbol and a 3-2 over HerO. And frankly, those aren't really impressive at all. He received stomps in PvZ from players he once might have been able to beat. He struggles against both good and mediocre Protosses. He's hardly played any Terrans, but the results he has are inauspicious.
However, it's also pretty hard to remember who San is ("san" means "mountain). For a part of 2011, some considered him the second best Protoss behind MC. He hit a massive slump and wasn't relevant again until the latter part of 2013, where he reached new heights in his career. Maybe now he's sliding down the foothills, never to recover again. But what is a mountain without both its valleys and its peaks?
FanTaSy
Recent Achievements: ro8 IEM WC, ro8 Kespa Cup
Title Win Effect: Fuck Yea, that's awesome
Bomb Out Effect: N/A
What Would Wax say: Some BW reference no one would understand except the most hardcore of BW fans
If your last recollection of FanTaSy's form is of his performances for SKT in Proleague, you're probably wondering right now, is this real life? Is this just the new FanTaSy? The improvements he has made aren't as surprising as many might make them out to be, though. His play suffered from a relatively uniform set of flaws, and he's tightened those up with slightly better macro, slightly more effective harassment that takes away from his macro, and overall heightened game sense. Additionally, he has enjoyed great freedom to be as greedy as his heart desires, as few opponents have attempted to punish that severely. Coming off what he claims was the best set of games in his career, topping his GSL group over soO and Rogue with both mech and bio, equally solid, and a laudable showing at KeSPA Cup with a win against Zest and narrow loss to Dark, FanTaSy is undoubtedly in his greatest shape since the twilight of Brood War. If his playstyles prove to be more broad-based than what we've already seen, the Dead Pixels Terran should be a front-runner to take it all.
Sacsri
Recent Achievements: 2015 OlimoLeague March Finals
Title Win Effect: Not much to think about
Bomb Out Effect: Even less than that
What Would Wax Say: He went the way of HerO (the second best one)
A year ago, Sacsri looked like he had potential. His Dreamhack Valencia win didn’t shoot him to the top of the recruiting list (vanquishing one of the weakest lineups ever never does), but it did considerably raise his stock. At that point no one knew his ceiling which made it easy to throw suppositions around. If he couldn’t be the next Nestea or DRG, he could adequately grow to the niche once occupied by the likes of Symbol or Sniper. As it turned out he couldn’t even rise to the latter. Right now Sacsri stands as another mildly notable opponent not worth mentioning in the championship race.
Snute
Recent achievements: Ro8 WCS S1
Title Win Effect: Saves 2015
Bomb Out Effect: Everyone blames SH
What Would Wax Say: He is funnier in real life
Since his first appearance at DH Open: Stockholm back in 2012, Snute is a regular face at DreamHack events. However, much has changed since his debut performance. At the beginning he was regarded as a promising up-and-coming player, but after a while he started to rise in ranks and now forms the crème de la crème of foreign scene. This was also reflected in his DreamHack achievements that steadily improved and finally culminated in 2014 with a Ro8 and a Ro16 finish. Though his favorite unit, Swarm Host, has been recently revamped, this does not seem to affect Snute's performance that much as he was able to take series against both top Korean and foreign players, notably against PartinG at the recent DingIT Round Robin Invitational and his teammate Bunny. In light of this, he seems more than prepared to make a splash at the upcoming DreamHack, even though it is pretty stacked with notable Koreans. If at any point on his road he starts to feel rusty, he may want to change his keyboard and mouse for a Dance Dance Revolution pad and he should be good to go.
MarineKing
Recent achievement: 2nd place Hot6ix Cup
Title Win Effect: Everyone forgets Matchfixing
Bomb Out Effect: Everyone mocks him
What Would Wax Say: Like Marinelord, but can't look at a minimap.
It seems somewhat redundant to state what a legend MarineKing once was and a little sad to say that he has fallen off quite a bit from his former glory. After a tough 2014, 2015 started promising for the MVP Terran, though he still remains more of a hit-or-miss player. His Proleague record of 3 – 11 is nothing to write home about and though he reached Ro32 of GSL in Season 1, which is a decent result in itself, he failed to repeat his performance in Season 2, falling to Patience in Code A. Even so, MarineKing has proven that his hits can still pack a hard punch. During the Hot6ix Cup, he breezed through the ranks of some of the mightiest warriors of Aiur, including herO, PartinG and Zest, to reach the finals. Though he was unable to best sOs, a 2nd place at a premier Korean tournament is still a worthy achievement. All in all, on his best day, MarineKing can create an upset and fight for the highest places at the upcoming DreamHack event. A word of advice before the tournament: if a blob on the minimap is of a different hue than your CC, kill it with fire!
PartinG
Recent achievement: 2nd place GSL Season 1
Title Win Effect: Gets to marry Harstem
Bomb Out Effect: Gets to be consoled by Harstem
What Would Wax Say: Not even Top 15 in S2SL or Kespa Cup, you want to be top 15 all time?
Of the players that left the ranks of SK Telecom T1 for (presumably) greener foreign pastures during the exodus in September 2014, PartinG arguably fares the best. He is one of the hottest Protosses currently on the scene with the results to back it up. Apart from qualifying for the main part of every premier Korean tournament this year, he can boast with a semifinal finish at IEM Taipei, where he was bested by Life. His most flamboyant recent achievement though is the 2nd place at GSL Season 1. Reaching the finals, PartinG looked like he could go the distance, but was unfortunately again stopped by Life who denied him a GSL title in a very close series. However, those high place finishes do not fully satisfy a player of PartinG’s caliber who is still striving for one thing in 2015: a championship title. Recently, the Big Boy was visibly frustrated for being denied the seat at the table of 15 greatest SC2 players. An additional salt to the wound was his performance at KeSPA Cup, where he was knocked out in the first round by yet another Zerg, his former SK teammate Soulkey. DreamHack is now his chance for both attaining a championship title and proving his worth to anyone who may still think he does not belong at the very top.
Dayshi
Recent achievement: n/a
Title Win Effect: France gets drunk for a week
Bomb Out Effect: Dayshi gets drunk for a week
What Would Wax Say: N/A
Once a promising French Terran, Dayshi has not produced any results to speak of recently. We have not seen him at any online cups in 2015 and his WCS performances were cut short already in the qualifiers. In Season 2, he fell both times at the hands of a Terran player losing once to DeMusliM and once to his teammate MarineLord, confirming that TvT remains his weakest matchup in HoTS. Dayshi is a regular face at DreamHack events and he can boast some solid results, especially from 2013 when he reached two Ro16. For the first time, the caravan will now stop in his home country and he will be able to perform in front of home crowd which should give him an extra boost. In light of his recent results though, it is difficult to envision Dayshi repeating his best DreamHack achievements. While he should advance from group stage 1 with relative ease, he will need to show more than he has till now if he hopes to break past the second round. A prayer to avoid a Terran opponent will also help immensely.
MC
Recent achievement: GSL Season 1 Ro16
Title Win Effect: Mo money, less problems
Bomb Out Effect: N/A
What Would Wax Say: Never ever count out MC
With the change of WCS system for 2015, MC was forced to return to Korea, where he once dominated by reaching GSL finals three times and winning 2 GSL titles. At the start of the year, the BossToss looked like he did not lose his flare after the extended stay in Europe as he swiftly reached Ro16 of GSL. Sadly for him, Season 2 does not look as promising. Instead of looking up at his fellow koreigner MMA, he followed in the footsteps of Taeja, failing to qualify for SSSL Season 2 and dropping out of Code A, narrowly losing to Trust. Maybe a return to the European soil will do good for MC. Historically, MC has done well at DreamHacks: out of 6 appearances, he has reached 3 quarterfinals and 1 final, placing second at last year’s DreamHack in Valencia. This time, it is Tours he needs to conquer. Placed in the group with MarineLorD, he is expected to reach the playoffs. The real question is how far he can go from there.
Heart
Recent achievement: 2nd place WCS America Season 3
Title Win Effect: TotalBiscuit stops his self-imposed exile to gloat over everyone
Bomb Out Effect: TotalBiscuit stops his self-imposed exile to flame everyone
What Would Wax Say: Please 1-1-1, please D:
Today’s standards regarding good results make it extremely difficult to determine a player’s actual skill level based on a single individual league. Most players have multiple regular sources of offline games where they can prove their reliability in addition to their raw skill. Heart’s raw skill in WCS America towards the end of last year seemed excellent, and while basing Heart’s ability entirely on two performances was clearly unreasonable, it didn’t seem too unlikely that he could make an impact upon his return to Korea. Instead, he defeated Revival and a weakened DRG to qualify for Code S before losing to every notable player he met in either Starleague. This may not be a huge problem for Heart—only six players in this Dreamhack have outperformed him in the GSL recently—but these losses made Heart look far worse in comparison. This brings into question whether Heart’s two strong performances in North America were a peak in performance rather than a sign of eventual improvement, an issue that will likely be resolved by this tournament one way or another.
Huk
Recent Achievements:
Title Win Effect: Fly out of the stadium on a Zamboni that is pulled by flying mooses. Fans still complain about Gateway All-ins.
Bomb Out Effect: Fans flame Huk for making a gateway.
What would Wax say: Huk has been surprisingly mature after his losses. BOOO Where is the hatred, the drama the flames?
After a very close match against Stardust in the challenger league of WCS, Huk takes his This will be especially important as this will be one of the few lans in the upcoming months he can attend to now that his chances of going to WCS have been eliminated. Perhaps the most interesting thing about Huk's entry into this tournament is that we really haven't seen much of him in international competition because of his early exits in WCS so we can see how he stacks up against the rest of the world.
Rain
Recent Achievements: Missing his Shoutcraft match
Title Win Effect: Be forgiven for missing his Shoutcraft match
Bomb Out Effect(?): Be sent to mYi Jail for losing and missing his Shoutcraft match
What would Wax say: One of the most technical and defensive Protoss the world has seen.
Ever since Rain has left Kespa, the question on everyone's mind is, "Can he still stay a Top tier player." The answer so far has been an emphatic no. He has yet to recreate the results he showed on his tenure as SKT's ace in PL and has yet to hit a Top 4 in any Premier tournament in 2015. However Rain's biggest obstacle may not be practice environment or leaving Kespa, but Fantasy. Fantasy has seemingly become Rain's demon in 2015 eliminating him in Kespa Cup Qualifiers, IEM WC and the Copenhagen games. If there is any match you should be hoping for this weekend, it should be Rain vs Fantasy.
Lilbow
Recent Achievements: Qualifying for Premier WCS
Title Win Effect: Will be adopted as ToD's son and Stephano's heri.
Bomb Out Effect(?): N/A
What would Wax say: Does Wax even know Lilbow?
After ToD's retirement, the battle for best French Protoss has been between PtitDrogo and Lilbow. Just in terms of pure results, Lilbow has to be said to be ahead as he has qualified for both seasons of WCS and is currently in WCS Premier. But once you look at their domestic results, it becomes more muddied. Lilbow beat PtitDrogo at Gamers Assembly 2015, but PtitDrogo placed higher in Underdog Seasons 16 and beat Lilbow at Envy Games City. For France, Lilbow will be one of their main players they will be pinning their hopes on to bring a large result home.
Harstem
Recent Achievements: Extending the Year of Harstem
Title Win Effect: Creates the millennium of Harstem
Bomber Out Effect: Harstem's year will be put on hold for a week.
What would Wax say: His in game skills are good, but not quite as good as his PR skills.
The best story I know about Harstem is that one time he paid for coaching lessons from the best cannon rusher on EU ladder. In that one hour he learned the best way to cannon rush on every map and cut out hours of personal experimenting. The second best story I know about Harstem is that he helped Scarlett master the Hitman build which was what she used to eliminate DRG from MLG. The third best story I know about Harstem is that he predcited Snute's builds and usedhis knowledge to beat Snute in WCS last year.
All told, Harstem seems to be a realist. He doesn't have a large ego like the greats, but because of that he is quite willing to take knowledge and skill from anywhere he can get it and is just as willing to dole it out. That combined with his work ethic and friendliness has made him a staple among the best EU players and one of the more dangerous EU players you can meet in a tournament.
Patience
Recent Achievements: Qualifications into the hardest Korean Leagues
Title Win Effect: Everyone falls over in shock
Bomb Out Effect(?): N/A
What would Wax say: Remember the time he beat Jaedong and Naniwa at DH Winter 2013?
Ignoring his run in 2013 at DH Winter, Patience has probably been in the best form of his entire career in 2015. He hasn't made any major results, but he has been able to make something of himself at qualifiers and online results. His best run so far has been his IEM WC qualifier run where he beat: Keen, Cure, Gumiho, soO, Dark. Yet there are two big questions for Patience. First, can he bring his skill to the lan environment? And second, how long will this skill last? Last time he had made a run in 2013, he quickly dropped off again and never got close to that form again for nearly an year.
Mana
Recent Achievements: ro16/ro32 WCS
Title Win Effect: Starts the Year of Liquid
Bomb Out Effect(?): N/A
What would Wax say: He knows the secrets of Protoss, winning off 2 base.
Mana is one of the players that has had trouble transitioning from WoL to HotS. Much like Leenock, Creator, and Ryung, something about the changes to the game have fundamentally hurt the way he has approached the game. And while the team switch to Liquid improved his performances, he was never quite able to reach the peak form he had in 2012. Yet in 2015, his form and results have both been on the rise and it may signal a possible revival of Mana to take his place as one of the greats of the foreign world.
Welmu
Recent Achievements: WCS qualifications
Title Win Effect: Kills elfi to take his spot as God
Bomb Out Effect: You have failed elfi
What would Wax say: Don't embarrass elfi.
Welmu has been tone of the most consistent players in the foreign scene and has easily been one of its best Protosses for the entirety of HotS. Yet he seems to have difficulty once it gets to the knock out stages implying that he has some kind of mental barrier once he gets to playoffs or that his style is just more suited to the faster more chaotic group stage rounds. Either way, he is one of the foreigners you can kind of expect to make it past the group stages, even in a Korean filled field like this.
MMA
Recent Achievements: Ro4 GSL
Title Win Effect: Everyone is happy.
Bomb Out Effect(?): ???
What would Wax say: I like MMA too much to mock him :[
While MMA got to the ro4 in GSL, no one really knows exactly what he is good at. Especially since he has neither qualified for the other Korean leagues and he isn't participating in PL. But at this point he's gotten to that point where you just don't count him out so despite not really seeing any games from him, I'm predicting MMA to be one of the contenders to take the entire thing.
Marinelord
Recent Achievements:WCS qualification
Title Win Effect: Gets to party with Stephano
Bomb Out Effect(?): N/A
What would Wax say: Better than his Korean counterpart, Marineking
Marinelord has been an up and coming French Terran player for some time. While he's done well in online and domestic events, he has yet to really make an impact on the international scene. With DH being in his home country, this could turn into a Cinderella story if he can put on a performance of a life time.
Xenocider
Recent Achievements: Qualified for WCS
Title Win Effect: Gets to steal Harstem from Parting
Bomb Out Effect(?): Parting steals Harstem from him
What would Wax say: Maybe he can play a Liquid player so we can finally have a Liquid-EG rivalry again
New talent is never born. It is self-made. Some like Taeja and Life were made in the mass online ESV weeklies. Others were born in domestic touaments like EPS or the TeSL. In Xenocider's case, he was forced to ladder for years. In America there have been little to no chances to walk yourself up steadily. The only choice is to ladder as much as you can until eventually you get to the point you can break through and make the leap from online player to a lan player. For Xenocider, this will be his first international Premier lan (does WCG count?) and an important step into his development as a player.
uThermal
Recent Achievements: qualified for WCS
Title Win Effect: Gathers the crowd to make a live scv parade back to the Netherlands where he makes a solid gold 11/11 in front of his home
Bomb Out Effect(?): N/A
What would Wax say: Give me the 11/11
Among the Netherland SC2 players, uThermal has been one of the more consistent. He doesn't peak at extreme heights like Ret or Grubby has at times, but he has neither failed. As far as I can tell, uThermal has always played to his level. Expect a lot of 11/11s to come from his games.
Scarlett
Recent Achievements: Came back to SC2
Title Win Effect: Canadians bear hug her and her to never leave again
Bomb Out Effect(?): Canadians bear hug her and beg her to never leave again
What would Wax say: I liked her natural hair better.
At this point in Scarlett's career, it should be clear that she is on her way out. Not in terms of talent or skill, but in terms of her interest in the game. She has always cited wanting to retire soon (all the way in 2013), but has stuck around both for her fans and for herself. And while I believe she could still easily be a top foreigner player if she wanted to be, her interests lay elsewhere. And honestly, that's fine. Whether or not she decides to stay with the game or leave it she has given us some of the greatest moments in SC2 history and that's all we can ask for.
TLO
Recent Achievements: WCS ro8
Title Win Effect: Will beg fans to stop saying he is creative. Everyone says he is so creative.
Bomb Out Effect(?): So creative.
What would Wax say: So creative.
TLO has had a pretty interesting career. In terms of success, he's had his best success in two time periods: 2011 and 2013. Both coincided with the release of WoL and Hots respectively. In many ways the chaotic mess of the early meta jut naturally suits TLO's styles and game thinking. Outside of those times though, TLO has been fairly consistent in terms of results and has consistently tried to find his own answers to SC2. Strangely, he seems to be on the rise in 2015, perhaps signalling some kind of break through in his game. This coming DH and WCS will tell us if that is the case.
Bly
Recent Achievements: WCS qualification
Title Win Effect: Blyonfire
Bomb Out Effect(?):Blyonice
What would Wax say: Blyonice
Bly has always played a strange unorthodox style with his Zerg that seems to favor more roaches in the style of TSL. He's also done his best in online tournaments. The question here is if Bly is on fire enough to play better than he has all year and make something happen at a lan.
Hydra
Recent Achievements: WCS 2nd, Gfinity 2nd
Title Win Effect: Gets out of the claws of the curse of Kong
Bomb Out Effect(?):At least he won't be a Kong
What would Wax say: Hail Hydra
While it is too early to say, Hydra is starting to show all the symptons of a Kong. He got swept by Polt after having a decisive lead in the bo7 seriesin WCS FInals. He played amazing at Gfinity until he got to the finals where he lost to Solar (A player who got another of his wins off of beating a different Kong)
And finally he has taken on the Pro Tourist persona of Jaedong, another fellow Kong (Pro Tourist - Jaedong got this nickname in 2015 when he wasn't playing in as many tournaments and would post pictures of his travels occasionally on Twitter. - http://www.reddit.com/r/starcraft/comments/34xbvb/a_few_korean_progamer_nicknames/)
Leenock
Recent Achievements: Ro8 SSL
Title Win Effect: Sent back to Taiwan in glory
Bomb Out Effect(?): Sent back to Taiwan in shame
What would Wax say: Leenock'd and Loaded.
After having an amazing early year in 2015 in both Proleague and SSL, Leenock has since cooled down. In many ways, Leenock's career has been one of rises and long periods of dormancy. With Leenock falling out of SSL and losing his star power in Proleague, Leenock looks to DH to show that his timein 2015 isn't over yet.
Hyun
Recent Achievements: Ro8 IEM Taipei
Title Win Effect: Hyun ceremony, hopefully involving alcohol
Bomb Out Effect(?): N/A
What would Wax say: Give us more Roaches!
In a complete reversal of his entire career, Hyun has been taking a much more reserved pace in his 2015 schedule. Of course this could also be due to less international lans in 2015 compared to 2013 and 2014. Hyun right now is a big question mark. In his interview at Gfnity he said he was in great condition. Despite that he fell out of the tournament fairly early, but that could have just been one bad day. DH will be the real test to see what kind of player Hyun is in 2015.
Petraeus
Recent Achievements: WCS Premier qualification
Title Win Effect: All of SEA party for a month
Bomb Out Effect(?): N/A
What would Wax say: A hipster foreigner pick.
Despite being isolated, SEA has always produced a handful of globally competitive players. In the early days, the nly player that could afford to leave and compete was Moonglade. But once WCS was instituted however, SEA finally got a chance to finally make it out and show the world exactly what they were made of. Currently the three biggest recipients of this boon have been Iaguz, Pig and now Petraeus. Petraeus has been hyped by his peers as one of the great ladder players of EU and one of the hardest working players in the entire scene. With enough lan experience, many expect Petraeus to eventually become one of the great foreign hopes.
