I mean, think about it - Who, Starcraft wise, is on GEM already? MC, Scarlett, Tasteless, Artosis, Bomber, MVP (Already), Leenock, Moonglade, Nestea, WhiteRa.
Now where do they go from here? I'm guessing "Pick up not top talent, but players with brand equity" is a big thing for them.
All these players have that in spades. HUGE brand equity that can be turned into sponsor cash. And since GEM are agents, not sponsors themselves, they can leverage individual sponsorships and don't have to worry about competing sponsors since each player's portfolio can expand seperately.

How does a under preforming Terran make sense to go to one of the best SC2 teams in the world?? It makes more sense for Marine King to leave Korea and try his luck overseas, he is past his prime, and not doing well in Korea at all...

Isn't his proleague record above 50% and he's in either position one or one of the last meaning he's going up vs the aces of other top teams? How does that say underperforming? Sure he's not some god of SC2 winning everything anymore but he holds his own comfortably.

Carrying prime along with Creator does not look like underperforming to me, though I agree that he's unstable. That's implied in being MKP though, maybe a team change will change that?

Well it's basically the elephant in the room drama all over again, but this time it's really happening

He is doing terrible, Code B, not able to do anything but get a few minor wins in proleague, he is not what SKT1 needs. Marine King would do far better overseas and able to make more money than he would in Korea. His coach said that's his goal anyway, I would love to see Marine King over seas, he has tons of fans here to.

Wasn't he the best terran in PL this season? Doing better than the terrans in the so called best teams .

Who, MKP? He was fourth at best, after Bbyong, Flash and TY, even fifth, after Cure. And i forgot about Maru, so sixth.

Well, let's be honest, MKP was trying his ass off to carry Prime, but even winning bunch of ace matches isn't enough sometimes.

Do you have a source for this? I am kinda curious to see the prize money available in the sc2 scene over the years.
No I do not have a source. Perhaps I spoke out of turn. But at the very least, we can agree the competition is much more fierce with the addition of KESPA teams.
We see that there is no shortage of skilled free agents, making it a buyer's market. Teams can drive the money down they are willing to offer a player. Or they can even disband the team entirely and bring in a whole new roster.
But yeah, I would be curious too. Much less MLG involvment, NASL, IPL gone. May be 1 or 2 less GSLs per year, though higher prize pool per tournament. I don't think WCS makes up for that, unfortunately.
I feel a little sick reading that. First MVP leaves IM, then DRG leaves MVP, now MarineKing leaves PRIME? Well at least he's not retiring from SC2 again right?

so for the premier Tournaments there isnt really a huge decrease I cant say for the Major or minor tournaments. But all in all the money is still getting shoveled down sc2s throat.
