I don't understand why they feel the need to buff medivacs every time players get good at defending drops. That was the excuse for the speed boost, so now we've gotten used to that, they are going to buff it some more. After players can handle the twice-buffed medivac, maybe they'll buff it again?

That kind of balancing doesn't make sense to me. The unit was fine 6 months ago, but now is crap? That doesn't add up. Maybe players need to get better at performing drops. I'd rather see a buff somewhere else.

I'm going to be real here.

The best medivac play was done by MMA and Gumiho in WoL. Since then it has never improved. Each time they improve that unit it lowers the skill ceiling of dropping.

Make units more microable, so the better players are the ones who are strengthened. The race should not be stronger just by the players doing the same things they did before the patch. Applies to all races. Only better players benefit.

SC2 needs more player vs player interactions.

I actually don't hate these changes. Medivac drops are a key differentiator of playstyles between Terran and the other races which these days isn't very prominent--Protoss warp prism harass is at least as effective as medivac harass, especially in the lategame. I don't think we need to keep buffing mech. Not everything in SC2 needs to be based around turtling and deathballs. For that reason I favor buffing mines as a way to deal with banelings over buffing tanks. Once Terran does better against Z and P there will be more Terrans, more TvTs, and tanks will see more usage.

Heck at this point rather than making some kind of change to mine radius, why not just revert both the vP mine buff and the year-old mine nerf?

I think the idea of reverting the stim research time buff is the best idea anyone's had... medivac and widow mine buffs would only serve to make everyone cry OP again, and would make TvT worse, as well. I mean, come on, turbovacs are already fast enough, they don't need to instantly unload on top of that. God, imagine widow mine/hellbat drops with those medivacs, not to mention stimmed marines... that would be terrible. Terrible terrible damage, in fact. Almost as stupid as Oracle harass.

A stim research time buff would serve as a counter to early Protoss and Zerg aggression, would possibly allow Terran to force Zerg and Protoss to be less greedy, and would overall narrow the gap in economy and tech in TvX matchups, which is where the real problem is. Unless you wanna give Terran a safety net unit like the queen and MSC, then all three races can't hurt each other early.

Terran still needs some real love late game, and better medivacs doesn't make thors/tanks/bcs/ravens/ghosts any more useful.

The widow mine buff would revert TvZ to where it was, but everyone was already complaining about TvZ being stale before, I don't see how buffing mines would make the game any better. Would it maybe fix winrates? Yes, maybe. Would it improve SC2's entertainment value? No. It's better than doing nothing, but there are better options available.

"Terran is going through hard times" is not a reason to support any BS patch Blizz suggests. If one thing is certain, if history says ONE THING, it's that Blizzard's balance team has absolutely no idea what they're doing, and any idea that originates from them should be considered suspect.

Blink is the biggest issue to medivacs. Maybe you can't attack medivacs after blink for 1sec would be a good thing I think.

Back in my day Creator had to defend hellions, medivac drops and bio run bys without a MsC core.

Strike cannons were beyond dumb. A stun lock damage ability that killed most units in the game. It might as well have said, removed this unit from the game with a single click. The Thor can get other buffs that isn't that trash.

I would agree with you excerpt for Maru. There's never been better Medivac play than what he showed in some of his recent TvPs, picking up and dropping marauders behind colossi in the middle of a battle, etc. I've seen similar tricks from other top Korean Terrans like Polt and TY. Those kinds of tricks were jsut not possible in WoL before the afterburners were added. Whether that is "good" or "bad" is another question.

I'm not sure how mines will help it TvP except in some cheesy worker kills or when protoss removed his hands from the keyboard and a-moved army in to the mine field without observer. But it will hit hard on zerg with it's low hp units and lack of range.

That's what spawn broodling did, but yes, I agree on second thought it was a bad suggestion.
