The stereotype is that Destiny caters to trollish and antagonistic people, `fans' who get off attacking (even ddos'ing) other people (including Destiny himself). Furthermore, that his fans are loud and unrefined, unlike the more pleasant and articulate sc2 community members. (On that note, you might want to look into spelling guides.)

I say Basil, give the young ruffian what he deserves. Good show! Why, I myself might box his ears if the need arises. Hear, hear! Fancy a drop of port and a game of bridge in the drawing room my good man?

In my opinion, generalizing a players fan base like that is on the same level of what you accuse his stream viewers of doing. This is the industry of video games, is it not? You should reasonably expect trolling, ddos, etc., within most popular streams. Destiny and his website offer fans a chance to let off steam in a less-strictly moderated chat. I wish people would not be so obtuse on the situation. I can't tell if it is jealousy, or if people are still mad for past events. Can't we all just get along?

Just from reading that you seem to fit the stereotype of an elitist little prig who has an overwhelming superiority complex when it comes to “your expert knowledge on SC2 streamers”. Whoop-de-fucking-shit. Also I find it hilarious that you’d stoop to the lowest form for internet douchebagery and attempt to tarnish someone because they misspelt a word. If you are going to do that (probably because your arguments are baseless and you need as much misdirection as possible) you may want to think about drastically improving your grammar my dear. One would think English isn't your first language ![]() I don’t watch Destiny’s stream that often (this is valid for SC2 in general, I've enjoyed watching a lot more Hearthstone as of late) but when I do it’s highly enjoyable. It’s quite refreshing to watch someone playing videogames who doesn’t have to bask in the “nerdy awkwardness” in order to fit some weird archetype everyone has about the ‘progamer’ scene. I also love that his humour is dryer than the sun, perhaps the only other personality that comes close to him is Incontrol. All those qualities also make him great guests on Skype talk shows and he always sets up a great talking point. Very refreshing as opposed to most guests who just sit there with the look in their eyes that says they can’t wait for the show to be over so they can go back to being alone in a room (nothing necessarily bad with that, some people are introverts, they just don’t make good guests on shows that focus on a debate). You mention how his fans are a blight on the scene, I’m sure he does attract his fair share of weirdo’s. Not really his fault, every major personally has them, don’t get me started on the Totalbiscuit “fanbois” or the DeMuslim Zealots who take any and every opportunity to go over to Idra’s stream and tell him what a terrible person he is. Or the trolls who snipe Trump just so they can play a Paladin and spam “well met” over and over (was a little funny first two or three times, the next 50 or so it loses its charm). The big sense of irony here is that in this quote stream there are two people who instantly rip on a guy and talk about the “stereotypes” of his fans when it turns out he’s not even involved with any of it (yes, totally possible that he is a troll, the point still stands that you both had a premeditated image that every fan of Destiny is the same). When you talk about "more pleasant and articulate sc2 community members" I bet you see yourself as a fan of those more 'proper' and 'refined' people and are therefore a better type of 'sort'. In my country there are thousands of people who claim that Big Brother is a blight on modern media and should be taken off the air. They then talk for hours about the last episode of The Apprentice. It's the same fucking show, just marketed for a different sort of people. At the end of the day we're still two people who get their kicks from sitting down and watching someone else play a videogame. I'll let you in on a little secret, you're nothing special, you're still just a guy sat behind a computer.

But if not, then here: Trump is one of the best players in Hearthstone, and when he streams he always analyses all his moves and possible options and their outcomes, explaining his thought process all the while to the viewers. He also answers chat questions every once in a while, especially those that ask for advice. Not only is it an educational stream, but the viewers are educated by someone who is actually a top player. The game's popularity certainly contributes a little bit to it, sure, but it's hard to deny his stream's usefulness. Also, I have nothing with the guy, but there's a lot of people in this community, mostly lower levels, who seem to think Day9 is some pro god guru of StarCraft who has 10 accounts in GM or something and the knowledge of 50 Artosis, which is simply not true. He's a cool guy, he's a smart guy, he's on the analytical side for sure, but for god's sake get a grip. You make a fair one too, that some people just seem to attract stupid fans and there's little they can do about it, but let's be honest Destiny is the one who makes his place a breeding ground for those kinds of tryhard "trolly" edgy redditor kiddies who want to be a part of something. Anyway this discussion serves little purpose and is most likely off-topic.

I'd say it'd be more embarrassing to lose to Destiny for SC2 than Trump for HS, though. Sure, Destiny streams more hours, but Day[9] has more viewers. Frankly, I don't watch Hearthstone, because I'd rather watch an 80-year-old woman playing bridge.
