I like the idea of voting for your favorite streams/shows. Hopefully next year Sc2 Up & Coming will be listed/considered in the show category

People need to not take this too personally, this is the kind of thing where the most popular kid wins. In the current hierarchy of popularity Hearthstone > SC2. Trump gets 20,000 concurrent viewers when ever he streams, that's more than some SC2 tournaments pull in, so it's hardly surprising he's beating Day9 in the 'educational' category. In all fairness though I would vote for Trump anyway, his stream IS educational to watch if you need help in arena, and his constructed knowledge is good enough. He interacts with his fans a lot and he puts a lot of effort into editing his youtube vids to make them the most enjoyable experience possible.

Sure Day9's stuff is great, and it's pretty much impossible to find anything to hate about the guy (would explain why his fans are so aggressively loyal) but he has essentially been doing the same thing for the last 3 years with very little change to his format or style. I'm sure you could find several daily's that essentially give the same lesson but with different replays. Also there doesn't appear to be much preparation in his shows. I get that this suites his style and works best for him but it can hurt the quality of some episodes. He can be talking about something and just completely losses his trail of thought, ends up completely dropping the subject without tieing anything off (despite talking about it for 5 minutes) and moves on to a totally different topic.

Sure, when Trump has been doing the same thing over and over for three years then feel free to criticise away. But right now the novelty of Hearthstone is really working in his favour.

Surely you jest?

But if not, then here: Trump is one of the best players in Hearthstone, and when he streams he always analyses all his moves and possible options and their outcomes, explaining his thought process all the while to the viewers. He also answers chat questions every once in a while, especially those that ask for advice.

Not only is it an educational stream, but the viewers are educated by someone who is actually a top player.

The game's popularity certainly contributes a little bit to it, sure, but it's hard to deny his stream's usefulness.

Also, I have nothing with the guy, but there's a lot of people in this community, mostly lower levels, who seem to think Day9 is some pro god guru of StarCraft who has 10 accounts in GM or something and the knowledge of 50 Artosis, which is simply not true. He's a cool guy, he's a smart guy, he's on the analytical side for sure, but for god's sake get a grip.

That's my entire point, it's not his fault that a bunch of arsepundits latch onto his fandom and do act like morons under some misconstrued guise of 'defending' him. Same goes for Destiny, and every other major personality.

It's hard to compare someone who endorses and sometimes uses his fanbase with someone who proactively speaks out against fanboism and the stupidity of it, and never seeks to reap benefit from it even when he could (see all kinds of dumb internet drama) was my point. You make a fair one too, that some people just seem to attract stupid fans and there's little they can do about it, but let's be honest Destiny is the one who makes his place a breeding ground for those kinds of tryhard "trolly" edgy redditor kiddies who want to be a part of something.

Anyway this discussion serves little purpose and is most likely off-topic.

It would be rather a shame to see Day[9] lose in both the SC2 and HearthStone categories. I'd say it'd be more embarrassing to lose to Destiny for SC2 than Trump for HS, though.
Sure, Destiny streams more hours, but Day[9] has more viewers. Frankly, I don't watch Hearthstone, because I'd rather watch an 80-year-old woman playing bridge.

Not sure why you had to add the last part in there, but eh.

And no, it's no shame for Day[9] to lose to Trump in the educational stream category.

My way of pointing out that I don't watch Hearthstone and can only talk from the perspective of an SC2 viewer. I'm unable to say whether Day[9] or Trump is more awesome / educational of a stream for Hearthstone.

Either way, what I am saying is if Day[9] just auto-loses to Trump in HS, he deserves to win something for what he's done for the SC2 scene far more than Destiny needs a reward for consistently annoying us.

EDIT: I guess Destiny wins favourite SC2 streamer. I had no idea he was the scene's favourite. Guess I better watch what I say....

People should likely stop looking for social justice and for the "more deserving" party to win in constests like this. The only thing you can do is cast your vote and cheer for who you like. Complaining about other people you don't like getting more votes goes against the spirit of the whole event.

I disagree with that standpoint. It's like watching an election with 20% voter turnout unfold in an undesirable way and then being disappointed in the 80% of the population who didn't vote. Not only do you have a right to vote and watch the results, but you have the right to be appalled by the outcome and feel ashamed for the population to which you belong.

People don't look for social justice in an election or vote, or whatever you want to call it, but you do get what I'll call a measurement of the collective will of the society or community in question. If Destiny is this scene's "favourite stream" it speaks poorly for the scene, although he has made some personal growth in recent times...

I hadn't even heard of these polls until a Hearthstone player mentioned it on stream. I doubt most people knew about this. Of course it was in Destiny's best interest to inform his fans and have them vote for him, why wouldn't he, but it's pretty obvious very few people voted overall.

You're reading to much into this IMO. People should vote for who they like and hope they win. Looking for deeper meaning or the health is the scene in the results it's sort of meaningless. I don't think the music world is goj f to hell just because people like J. Beiber and I don't think they have shitty music tastes because they do.

That's cool and I get it. You're saying that things are lob-sided because he got a head start and the number of votes are low. So, they can either change, or get progressively more lob-sided as more votes are cast.

If the SC2 community genuinely loves Destiny, I'd like to see his victory spelled out with like 80,000 votes, rather than a thousand. The higher the number of voters, the more accurate the results, assuming no foul play.

Also, "Twitch will distribute a prize pool of approximately $45,000" to the winners of these 6 or 7 categories... It's not like the outcome of the "contest" is completely meaningless. The community is literally rewarding, with money, the people who win. If we don't love Destiny as a community and are just "letting him win", that paints a very trollish picture of what we are. I hope that explains my viewpoint a little better?

This is actually a fair point and I don't think many people are aware that there's money involved.

Most people who voted I'd assume never even got to read the thread, they were just given a link in streamchat like "hey vote pls kthx" :/ So that's a thing to consider.

Damn, I haven't logged into my blizz account in forever, so had to look up my password because Day9 must win! Besides voting for day9, I based my other votes on who I thought needed the money the most. Except for d3/wow. I abstained from voting in those cats since I know nothing about those streamers and didn't want to risk voting for a douchebag.

I have nothing against Destiny. I don't watch his stream. But I gotta say the SC2 community isn't representing itself well right now in the best SC2 stream category when I think of all the other names on there of people who invest 24/7 to sc2. I'm honestly disappointed. Do you guys want new comers to see SC2's best stream and have them go to Destiny first? If you feel he's the best SC2 can offer then cast that vote.

His stream was on when the polls opened.. His % of the lead is slowly diminishing, so I think it will end up being someone else.

You must overrate the sc2 community because you forget the sc2 community is the reason destiny rose to fame in the first place. The voting results are predictable and nothing new. The sc2 community loves players like destiny, idra, naniwa, etc. People like to rag on the lol/dota community, but the sc2 community is no shining example either really.

Of all the names on the list, Destiny is by far the most prolific and dedicated streamer. He has made it his main profession to stream. It's not a poll for "Most important SC2 personality", I hope people bear that in mind.

The snipealot channels pull Korean BW streams from Afreeca and restream them on Twitch. They're online almost all the time.

Also this was about most hours, not about content. And personally I'd argue that, restreams or not, the snipealot channels are some of the best content out there on Twitch.
