Detailed results and standings on Liquipedia Full bracket on ESL.eu
The WCS Europe online qualifiers came to an end with the Ladder Wildcard qualifier. Despite the qualifier having no regional restrictions and this having a number of notable Koreans like First and YoDa competing, six Europeans in mYi.ABomB, vega.VERDI, Mill.DieStar, hOpe , Liquid`Snute, and StakimaN managed to claim all of the qualifier spots.
Combined with the results from European qualifiers #1, #2, and #3, the full list of Challenger league players has been completed. You can see the full list of players on Liquipedia.
Each of the 24 players who make it through the qualifier will be matched up against one of 24 Premier League/Challenger players from the previous season in a single best-of-five series. The winner will qualify for the new Premier League season. The brackets or method of seeding have yet to be announced by Blizzard or ESL. A detailed description of the new WCS system can be found here.
YoDa beat an Italian player named Nogard in the RO128 but was knocked out by DIMAGA in the RO64.
Dragon had a bye in the RO128 and was knocked out by Bischu in the RO64
Patience beat a Bulgarian player named btmn in the RO128 and was knocked out by MaNa in the RO64
First had a bye in the RO128, beat a Polish player named pabe in the RO64 and was knocked out by DieStar in the RO32.
TAiLS had a bye in the RO128, beat White in the RO64 and was knocked out by Socke in the RO32.
So yeah, not only did not a single Korean qualify but none of them made it further than the RO32, and all of them were eliminated by foreigners. Weird.
God, I'm so sad fraer didn't make it, his bracket was very doable but I guess he still needs a bit more time to improve. Hopefully next season will be better and he won't stop playing because he didn't make WCS.
Congrats to everyone who made it in!

Here's a pretty long interview with ABomB if anyone's interested.
ABomb is already fairly known, he made a name for himself during Hots Beta hitting top of the grandmaster league and beating several known name. Glad to see he is back in good shape

Yeah, if you don't know ABomB, watch this game against Brat_OK from the HotS beta (from Husky's stream). It's worth watching even if you don't care about ABomB; it's a pretty awesome action packed game.

I think this is mainly due to the latency issues tbh. It seems that there is a huge delay on especially the EU server. Makes sense to me at least since the Koreans who are written here have quite an honorable reputation in the scene.

Probably true, but if you look at WCS EU 2013, plenty of Koreans made it into Premier without invites or anything. Kind of sad for First and YoDa in particular, they (apparently) left IM specifically to play in Europe even though they hadn't found a foreign team to join and now without even the chance to show their skills in WCS EU it might be hard for them to find one.
And europe holds? Diestar with some good looking TvP, not who i expected to see but still pretty awesome. And gl to ABomB, he was a fun toss to watch when HotS was in beta

Obviously latency plays a big part in KR vs EU matches, but it's still a bit of a weird decision to try and switch WCS regions from GSL to a region you have a terrible ping to.
And I'd say they still performed surprisingly badly, considering that players like Hyun have won countless online tournaments on the European server vs players who are considered similarly skilled or better than the ones the Koreans lost to today, or just look at Genius, duckdeok, etc. who made it in last year.

Patience had no lag, he was just unlucky to meet MaNa ^^
Kinda weird how the big names of Dimaga, Socke, Mana, Bischu knocked out the Koreans but couldn't advance. Only DieStar lived. Like the Koreans had deathtouch or something

Just to add to the list: Revenge lost to Snute in Ro16
I suppose all Koreans have had at least 200 wins worth of EU lag (except Revenge, who lives in Germany(?)), so that shouldn't have come as a surprise to anyone.

They learnt it from JYP. Refreshing/surprising to see all these new names. An Irish player though

Instead of wasting their time and opportunity they could go to qualify either NA or KR. I am sure it wasn't the first time when they played on EU therefore they knew exactly how/if lag could affect the game.

Yea and they didn't get very high up on ladder, they weren't trying their best, but still.

I'm 100% they would be trying their best to try and qualify for this tournament. Now there is nothing they can do/play in for a while to make some money or try to anyway.
I also think lag is a pretty petty excuse. They had to be high on ladder to enter the wildcard tournament no? Plus they needed 200 wins. Which makes their experience playing on that server that much greater.. They were fully aware of the conditions and still wanted to play in EU. I'd rather congratulate the europeans who won and made it in the tournament than make excuses for why they won. They played well and good jobs guys!
Teams represented in WCS Europe, P means Premier League, C means Challenger League. In blue, the teams that have at least one player in Premier League :
4 players Fnatic (0P, 4C) Millenium (0P, 4C)
3 players Acer (2P, 1C) Mousesports (1P, 2C), 4 if you count LucifroN Dignitas (1P, 2C) mYinsanity (1P, 2C)

You do recall YoDa won the IEM World Championship in 2013 (beating Mvp and PartinG among others) and First went to the semifinals of the WCS Season 2 Global Finals? They're maybe not top 10 in the world at their race but they're both very strong.

playing on eu, it was expected ^^ it wasnt the SUPERCLASS koreans and this high tier guys are all not as good that the lag can be overthrown by them. only yoda is good enough for it but he had dimaga as enemy, who is a zvt beast
POOOOR SOCKE ! is it right that he lost every 4 tournaments 1-2 in the quaters or semis ?

well they had to win 200 games in 9 days to make this qualifier, so they knew how bad it is ^^

First is not a B team korean. B team koreans do not do things like get to Global Finals, defeat Polt twice and also beat aLive. They most certainly do not make Fantasy look like a silly idiot with their plays. They also do not tend to appear on TL power ranks.

All of the top Koreans trying to qualify except for YoDa were Protoss too (First, Patience, TAiLS) so somehow I doubt it. And YoDa did not lose to a Protoss.

Lol never fails for someone to bring in the protoss excuse. Looking at who qualified so far, I'd say Protoss so far has been represented the least. 1 out of the 6 in the ladder wildcard. So nice try.
And everyone just hating on the Koreans who got knocked out just because they are Koreans is pretty shallow. They are players trying to make a living just like everybody else.
But anyways, good luck to the qualifiers hope they do well in challenger, and hope the Koreans stick around who didn't make it and have some better luck next time!

I'm not being intentionally hateful or anything, I just assume that since First and Yoda are overall better players than the Europeans, it is possible that their opponents decided to beat them with cheese and not macro play. Adding that the Koreans played from KR, cheesing could very well have a stronger shot against them.
And in my opinion Protoss has always had the best cheese/all-ins and in at least pvt the current maps favor blink plays a lot.

DieStar beat First in 2 macro games and lost the game where he went for a SCV pull vs. Storm. Dimaga beat Yoda in macro games. Mana vs. Patience was a PvP and lag wasnt even an excuse. Revenge is in Germany, and he couldnt even get top8 EPS. Socke vs. Tails was PvP aswell.

What pro retires after losing one match?! None worth rooting/going all mushy for.
That being said, I think there is one issue here that might be a bit overlooked and that is that the 200 wins required works two ways, and this is the ingenious part about it. Firstly, the 200 win + wild card qualifier were created as soft lock, limiting the invading hordes going to EU/AM, whoever the hordes may be. So in the first wild card qualifier in WCS EU there were 6 slots for grabs, and interestingly enough, exactly 6 Koreans participated, not 5 not 7, but 6. (Surely someone must pick this obvious conspiracy to take over the EU scene that was thwarted). Now, there has been a bit of discussion about whether or not YoDa et all took these 200 wins requirement seriously or simply tried to cut corners and do it as quickly as possible with cheese and so forth. Time can very well have been a constraint that pushed players to get the 200 wins over and done with asap. Overconfidence might have been another, who can tell?
Secondly, and this might have been overlooked a bit, the 200 wins requirement provides not just a chance for the local heroes to get to know the invading horde's play style and learn a trick or two, but it is also provides an opportunity for the invading horde to get to know the play style of the EU players as well. The thing is, if you want to compete against EU players with lag and all that jazz, sure, practicing in Korea is likely superior, but not knowing the opponents and not knowing/caring what they might be up to is a huge handicap I'd say. With that said, I hope that all those serious about switching to EU become regular on the EU ladder, for their own sake as much as for the EU ladder's sake.
And again, huge congrats to all those that qualified for WCS EU challenger, the 4 qualifiers were all awesome to follow! To those that didn't make it this time, hang in there, get 200+ wins and at least I will look forward to a new round of intense qualifiers for season 2!
