All you die-hard BW guys advocating unit select caps and removing autocast don't get it- If you do that, you will kill what little chance Starbow has of becoming more than a little niche game.

You've got your limelight this week- Don't spoil it by becoming rabid fanboys and alienating your potential player base.

If you just want the same small and ever dwindling fanbase BW has had outside of Korea, then yes, please continue adding UI impediments to discourage players and artificially raise the skill ceiling.

Honestly as great as BW is I think the mod plays a bit too much like it already. Going down the BW route of crippling the UI will just further pigeonhole the mod down that road.

Just because BW did things one way doesn't mean its the only way to do things. Its amazing how many people can't seem to grasp this idea.

Just going to chime in. It's quite fun so far and pretty entertaining to watch. I really enjoyed sc2bw and 6mineral 1 high yield gas maps as well. Only thing annoying me right now is inability to find games quickly. I basically settle for anyone who answers me in chat and don't get the best games there. Perhaps a loading screen that links to a website where people can find matches? Even if the game is extremely fun, if I can't find games I'll turn away quickly. It happened just recently for me when I started laddering on iccup again. Finding games even at the lowest level took several minutes of spamming. I stopped looking after a week.
edit: ya just now waiting 15minutes kind of sucks. T.T.

No one disputes that SC2 has a high skill ceiling. The problem people have is with the play style of no rush 3 base deathball vs deathball that's more often than not over after 1 fight. It's a different style of game.

Then how about this, ok remove all tier1 units and see what happens.

Why? What does that have to do with what that other guy said? He said the problem (one of the problems) is no rush 3 base deathball vs deathball. How would removing tier 1 units remedy that?

If you remove the tier 1 bread and butter units, (with some balancing,) you would probably have a more open ended outcome. Right now they only place Starbow is heading is to a slower more boring sc2. Im just throwing out suggestions, people have tried low bases, why not try no tier 1? There would be 1/5th the game ending cheese and players could expand earlier.

Really enjoying watching Starbow when it's available.

I feel like the Stalker is a bit redundant. Any thoughts on eliminating the Stalker and giving Dragoons a late game blink? Or is that too crazy . . .


Also agree that autocast should remain as it is. The game is already going to reflect better skill compared to SC2 by an enormous margin. No reason to take things too far and alienate people.

Limited unit selection is pointless to bring up, considering it's not possible in the sc2 editor. We can discuss the merits of smartcast without having to deal with scare tactics about completely reverting to bw ui, please.

no way smartcast needs to be off. Its one of the few improvements in sc2 that needs to stay!

And they make it into an extension mod, it could be played on every melee map ever released for SC2. Could be good too :D

Well conceptually, If you create something and constantly tell people that it is as good as it will get or at the very least must remain the way it is, meanwhile someone with limited time and resources is able to take the thing you created and make it so that people actually like it. It might very well inspire feelings of inadequacy. Does that help you understand?
