With your mind set like that, you can focus 100% on the game, and not experience tilt. Great guy in general, made me more of a fan after his performance.

As you said they are elements of the game and believe or not they are crucial for the meta game to evolve by itself. If there was no way to punish greedy play this game would be so unbelievably boring when it comes to boX series. I agree that there's nothing wrong with "cheese" per se, but "some" strategies are very easy to execute and grant huge rewards, and it's kind of disrespectful to abuse them in such games. Sos seems like a really cool guy judging by his behavior on stage and interviews, but I just hate his gamestyle so much.

You also need to look about how good he plays right now, well with the way he talk and everything the fact he did win the tournament was not luck like some people or fans or other players would like to believe.... In my book the best player in sc2 currently = him or dear, they are both really close.

This is a game with 3 races in any situation one side will always have an easier time doing something. If Jaedong (and don't get me wrong I cheered for jaedong will all my heart throughout the entire event and I want nothing more than for him to finally win an event) was truly superior to sos he would have defended against every single cannon rush. There is so much more to starcraft than how hard a build is, the strategic mindgame battle is so much harder to do right than it is to execute any kind of build. And when 100k are on the line you will do what it takes to win, these guys are professional gamers and not unpaid volunteers who only do this to entertain us/evolve the meta.

There is a lot of risk in doing such things and if they get snuffed. You find yourself at a disadvantage. It's funny because it happened several times for sHy yet he still made it work. It isn't disrespectful at all. You guys have to get over it. A lot of people blame the Protoss players for doing what they do to win and it has to stop. It isn't their fault that Blizzard designed the game that way. Something tells me you aren't a big fan of Protoss in general and that is fine, but don't try to discredit them.

Focusing exclusively on the difficulty of mechanical execution ignores an entire mindgame/strategy aspect of the game, and that's where sOs is exceptional. He simply outthought Jaedong (and most of his other opponents). That sort of skill isn't as easy to demonstrate to a spectator as sick micro or something, but it absolutely is a skill that some players are better at than others. Hell, look at BoxeR for example. Did he win because his mechanics were just so much better than YellOw? Not really. In fact, most YellOw fans would argue (pretty convincingly I might add) that he had superior mechanics to Boxer, especially when it came to macro. But Boxer was brilliant at tricking and mindgaming his opponents, figuring out what they would expect and then doing exactly what he had to in order to fool and punish them. The fact of the matter is, Starcraft is a real time strategy game, not a real time APM demonstration. A player who devises a clever way to trick his opponent deserves to win every bit as much as someone who simply wins through superior mechanics. ![]()

My favorite thing about sOs is he'll never have to deal with being some "faceless korean" again. Every SC2 fan knows who he is and how good he is, and with his brilliant mindgames and positive attitude he's earned himself a lot of fans. The next time sOs is in a big match against a famous player, it won't be just "some nobody vs. a fan favorite", but rather two respected players with large fanbases going head to head.
