It looks like from the ep 9 preview they are just rehashing the game from the first episode too. The Genius has always done this, it's really not new. Most of season 1's games were based on Liar Game's challenges or a real world game and all of the deathmatches are found in real life in some form.

+ Show Spoiler + I thought that was a really cool game except that people didn't play it very well. Boxer nuking the rehearsal was a good idea. Junghyun's suggestion of not getting in anybody's way except Sangmin's was solid. The part about drawing lots was too rigid but they could've easily played it out more flexibly, essentially draining Sangmin's garnets and token of immortality. But Boxer played the main game too greedy, particularly how he played with Jiwon. Junghyun had an interesting idea with taking all of the remaining blocks, but revealed his strategy too soon and played it too stubborn -- he should've passed on that -13. Really miss Jinho!

Atleast be thankful that we don't have that S1 Ep.1+2 Death Match anymore, now that was some godawful shit. and very very few deathmatches are based on skill anymore. yeah yeah. Ep. 7+8 were both individual skill based games, how do I know that, cuz they appeared already in S1, so they must have been individual skill based games. Ep6. Deathmatch was stupid. Laserchess was individual skill based. Hap, Gyul was skill based. Sun Moon Star was not. Neither was the one from Ep.1 So, in eight episodes we had 4 individual skill based Deathmatches, two of those in the last two episodes. We are in the SC2 forum here, embrace the new.

Since the jiwon/hongchul/yoyoung/sangmin thingie is slowly dismantling + Show Spoiler + There are only so many of them left anyway. Only BoxeR is not in the league. Junghyun used to be more neutral but now inclined towards Sangmin as a old-wise-man ally. Yooyoung and Jiwon are no longer of use to Sangmin. I think there is no harm adapting from existing board games, or even rehashing or updating games that had been played before, as some are flexible enough to be played differently. The players are the ones who make or break the outcome, not the game mechanics per se. The ideal way of how The Genius should play out is for the players to show ingenuity by finding loopholes or circumventing the rules without violating the seemingly 'fixed' rules. YellOw is a master at such, esp evident in Open Pass (detected the special design on the cards), 5 vs 5 (created own circumstances with guests), Sun Moon Star (deduced what chips had been selected based the height of the stack of the leftover chips; later disguised the height of chip stacks by mixing them up, successfully fooling Sangmin), Seat Exchange (5-straight in reverse direction) and the 7 Commandments (infinite red chips-wild cards idea). + Show Spoiler + I had wished for BoxeR to display even just 1% of that brilliance esp in Ep8, but his execution was beyond poor, and the fault his to begin with the moment he intercepted Jiwon's number.

+ Show Spoiler + If I understand the rules of the Main match correctly, I think Boxer had a decent idea, but he didn't execute it properly. I thought that what he should do, if he actually didn't mind going to the deathmatch, and wanted to burn the token of immortality, was that once Sangmin took any number, and then as long as one of his allies, like Hongchul, hadn't taken any numbers yet, Boxer could do the same thing he did to nuke the rehearsal, and just eat all the remaining numbers, then the person with no numbers would finish first and Boxer would be able to pick Sangmin for the Deathmatch and force the use of the token?

I agree that everyone should be doing the samething too, otherwise Sangmin pretty much gets a free ticket to the final. But Boxer (and pretty much everyone else) executed the plan very poorly.

Election Game is a combination of the Downsizing Game and Steal a Chair, Prosperity/Famine is similar to Contraband, Zombie game is a direct copy of the Pandemic game with some elements removed, etc. etc.

+ Show Spoiler + On the very first round of the game, Sangmin passed the first number, so he only has a +8 score from his remaining chips. Then Boxer (or Jiwon) could have immediately nuked the game, and Hongchul would still have +9 and win, Boxer is last and could pick Sangmin. Mission accomplished, right?? Edit: Had Sangmin and Jiwon's names wrong.

I think he means Sangmin and Jiwon, but yeah, I think that would have worked, and it's more guaranteed than what I was thinking too ![]()

Ah, I see Sangmin and Sangho mixed up. Could not reconize whether is BoxeR or Yellow. Anyway, I think BoxeR is half-hearted on executing the plan to destroy Sangmin. I think he will only do it, when he noe for certain he cant win it or something. . . So he nv nuke himself or something . .

Jiwon who was the person next to SangMin should've eaten all and Jooyoung girl, who was right before SangMin, they should've ensured the win. This way they won't lose unnecessary chips getting it all the way round. All the chips Jiwon would've gathered he could then give Jooyoung. Still not a high level game though.

some thoughts i'll spoiler them just in case + Show Spoiler + s1 was really good. finding the way to break the game and get a near 100% winrate. love that. with s2 it's always a bit difference because people go in prepared. i don't think some comments i've read elsewhere are that true. the games needed alliance type stuff many times to rig for the 100% winrate strats so that's no different. what is different is some of the players. this season had a few too many people that were simple entertainers rather than people that actually play the game to get that 100% winrate. i was never that worried about this but a few episodes all the shenanigans did make it so the game players didn't have enough time to fix the 100% winrate stuff. that's fair and part of the game i guess. but it's dangerous. it definitely doesn't fit this show and the few times it goes to far can make an episode a lot less enjoyable. and then episode 8. we are left with certain people and they just made horrible decisions. truly bad. EDIT: maybe im confusing this with episode 7, anyway just read it as some of the episodes of season 2 and it will fit) this really has to change and if there is a 3rd season they shouldn't get these joker players. for them it's a legit strat to block others from figuring out the game but that just doesn't fit the whole idea behind the show. the only person that still in that truly plays to win is sangmin. i'll still watch this season and i'm hoping from next episode people will take the more serious approach. they kinda hinted that it would be a more peaceful environment and they would be able to play like that. i'm really hoping that happens. i have my favorites but most of all i care about it being a fun experience. and for me the fun comes from finding the way to break the game properly and getting that 100% winrate. i'm okay with certain favorites dropping out. most of the time they simply made mistakes they shouldn't have.
