It really seems like the "best" players have their run for about a year to 2 years max, then they become a no-name in the scene again.
GG, SC2.
It's been fun.

That's nice? cmon, focus on MKP's retirement and not your SCII retirement lol

Lack of social aspect in the community. The experience of SC2 is very cold, even for the beginner. You play a ladder match, and you get bad mannered or mocked for being of lesser skill. You leave ladder game, thats it. There is minimal interaction between casual gamers. The channel sytem and BNET 2.0 is comical to say the least. So the casual gamer gets frustrated with a game that is harder to pick up as opposed to others, as a community during ladder games we are for the most part disrespectful toward them (calling them noobs ect.), and they are left with a channel/bnet system that does not promote social activity. And we are really asking why SC2 is losing some popularity?

Casual gamers are what gives a game its popularity, they are responsible for high views, and ultimately responsible for more tournaments with higher prizes. Casual gamers want to buy the same mouse or keyboard that Jaedong has or MKP has, casual gamers are the ones who make up the bulk of twitch.tv views, casual gamers make up the bulk of audiences at tournaments around the world. What do we do as a community? We bad mouth them for their lesser amount of skill, we charge them 100 dollars an hour for lessons, we give them a BNET system with a laughable social integration, we charge them HD subscriptions to watch GOM.TV in a decent quality, and we ban them on TeamLiquid for making a post that might be slightly misinformed or having an opinion that is unpopular. Then we sit here and ask why this game is losing popularity? We treat people like trash for the MOST part. Stop claiming we are a community and starting ACTING like we are a community.

If I am temp banned for expressing my feelings in a mature and constructive way, it only speaks to what I'm trying to communicate here.

Don't know why he was banned.. he's stating facts.

MKP is a huge loss...... Just for example... If doublelift ever left League for another game. Doublelift is the most popular player in NA... one of the most popular players in the world bar none... and he has not won anything LOL. He's my fav player just like MKP.

I watched his last SC 2 match, when he lost the game that he should of won after a failed rush. MKP will always be SC2 even if he does great things in League to me....

It's well known that if you say "im going to get banned for this but..." (martyring) then you get banned.

Good move for MarineKing. He should find more success and gain more popularity in there, I feel. There's also more money for him even though I'm not sure how soon he would be ready for top competition. Optimus Prime is an extremely young team so it seems like he will be their oldest member. IMO they're not going to be competitive until after maybe a year or two, after their talent has had the time to mature a little. I'm not sure if that's the best team he could join, but of course it's Prime's as well so it makes perfect sense. Optimus Prime is a ridiculous teamname as well, in a good way.

Hopefully he will actually make an appearance / splash in LoL, numerous SC2 progamers have switched to LoL and haven't made any sort of an impact in there at all.

No comment following the original has done anything to disprove or even argue the actual statement that League has a ton of fan service within its female cast of characters. You preferring that 'aesthetic' to monsters, or there being some characters that aren't sexualized as a primary feature, are not exclusive to the game having more of it than DotA. QoP is a dominatrix, and the other female heroes have some pretty sizable chests, but it kind of ends there, I don't see how this is a discussion?

Most fantasy games all have the same design philosophy when it comes to female heroic characters. Fairly large breasts, thin waists, and/or skimpy armor/clothing. Neither Dota 2 nor League is an exception to that, nor is anything Blizzard makes, for that matter (WoW in particular). And no, it's not just QoP that's extremely revealing. Take a look at Venge, whom everyone seems to have forgotten about. Entire chest, midriff, and thighs areas are showing. Anyway, I don't think either side is innocent in this case. If you look at Drow vs Ashe, they have almost the same figure, outfit, and amount of skin showing. It doesn't matter which game has numerically more "sexualized" female characters, when it's pretty apparent that the design philosophy is similar in both. Riot, in recent releases, has at least tried to get away from this a little more. Jinx has a very small frame and very flat chest, and is meant to be attractive due to her crazy personality rather than sexy body.

LMFAO Grief much lately? hereticfurby plays the game for the pro players he like. If there was no professional scene for any video games out there, he'd probably be playing sports to no end because, well, there's no eSports for him to follow.

While I agree that it seems like he plays the game for the pro players he likes, I'm talking more about the 'quitting SCII' posts. Way too many of them in this thread. It takes away from the main point which was MKP's move to LoL which is what the discussion should be about imo. Ya, I can understand being upset about his move since personally, I've seen his games since he was known as Boxer and always loved his micro . Anyways, derailing this thread.

Wishing MKP best of luck in LoL. I'm sure his micro skills will come to good use there.

I don't know why people who write decent rants attempt to ruin it by calling out to mods that temp banning said rant is ok/useless/doesnt matter/im expressing my view and some facts here.

Because more often than not people with just slightly controversial views are already banned regardless of a presence of an attempt to martyr. Pleading to mods are always Not Very Effective.

Time to rewatch GSL 2010-2012 . Good luck MKP, you are the true Optimus Prime, given how the team was probably funded by your winnings.

Which anti-competitive practices are you talking about?

He probably refers to the fact that i.e. tournament can't run LoL and any other MOBA and Riot was trying to enforce such rule on teams (so either you have LoL team or Dota2 team but not both). I think Scooters from EG made this information highly implicated at least.

Which was proved to be false to begin with, sicne at the time of Dignitas/EG statements, teams like M5, iG, WE and Rox.Kis all had LoL/Dota2 divisions coexisting

That's hardly the proof. Riot could have started this practice at the time to force teams to drop Dota2 squad but there is no hard proof for that, just rumors. People just like to jump into conclusions when they are already biased.
